Guess the dicks have figured out which biological sex that makes most household shopping decisions.

I seem to remember that those of us who departed Ocado over billboard gate, asked for our lifetime spend with them. For quite a few of us, it was north of £20,000. It may be worth those leaving now to do the same.

I think Ocado has agreed some wording which they are trotting out to everyone who asks them about this, eg see page 1 of this thread (Daily Mail story) and the MSN/Evening Standard piece below.

Ocado apologises to Mumsnet after it said forum had ‘hateful political views’

Yep - still sounds like the "dog ate my homework" to me
And anyway that was presumably a tweet from a contractor on X to Julie Blindel. So until one of the Board make a formal comment, we should reserve judgment.
Not convinced so far

Edited to add - am I old fashioned in expecting that an apology would come directly to me from someone, and not to a third party on X?

Is Justine going to apologise to mumsnetters for banning posters like LangCleg and Posie Parker (Kelly Jay Keen)? For splintering the FWR board to appease feminists who don't understand what a woman is? For introducing talk guidelines for this board that had women twisting themselves into pretzels to have a discussion without being banned?

Did you see Justine’s message on the Thanks Mumsnet thread?

Worth a read. Especially from the only known victim of swatting in the UK.

I would be more impressed if they had the courage of their convictions, such as they are.

No skin in this game, we haven’t used them since the divorce fiasco several years ago.

what does this mean, divorce fiasco, who are they divorced from?

Yes. Where was the apology for the things I mentioned above?

Edited

You are right. I have just checked the website of Ocado Group. Nothing relevant in the news section and a search of the site using the word Mumsnet comes up with nothing. They are treating the issue as a minor irritation to be swatted away.

I don't think many of us realised exactly what Justine was up against.

We should be grateful that she stood by her convictions despite everything.

ItisntOver · 19/04/2025 14:53

Where in my enquiry did I say that they existed?

I was looking to understand your general grounds.

The various news reports have, I think, just lifted their content on this from Justine’s post and the ‘apology’ on Twitter which has been picked up and discussed on MN.

Thanks for the info on Lloyd’s @senua and @Mirabai. I’ve banked with them for 35 years. No more, who the hell do they think they are. This woman will be taking her business elsewhere on Tuesday, they can get in the bin. I will certainly tell them why.

Next question, can anyone recommend any alternative UK banks that aren’t misogynistic arseholes? Barclays clearly not an option!

We moved from Lloyds to Nationwide this year after many years.
As we had a current account with 2 direct debits, we were entitled to £100 transfer -
make sure you open a savings account so that you will be entitled to any pay out,
as just this month we had a £50 bonus. They also supply cheque books, its civilised, efficient, excellent telephone banking and customer services.

Arran2024 · 19/04/2025 15:50

Listening to the radio 2 news at 3pm earlier and the third story was about mumnset and Ocado!

ATowerOfGiraffes · 19/04/2025 16:03

When I messaged ocado I got exactly the same text, so it's obviously the official line that they are copying and pasting to all customers:

"These comments are not representative of us as a company, and we believe they were made by a temporary contractor who is no longer with the business. We apologise unreservedly to Mumsnet."

Waiting for a response to my follow-up email.

mcduffy · 19/04/2025 19:44

I just can’t believe they didn’t learn lessons from the 2018 billboard debacle! Memories are short (not mine 🐘)

Rachelsthorns · 19/04/2025 21:35

Two companies are named by Justine. One apologises unreservedly and the other refuses to comment.

I don't get why everyone seems determined to attack and boycott the one that apologised, and the other is barely mentioned.

AzurePanda · 21/04/2025 12:31

@Rachelsthorns speaking for myself, I have had weekly deliveries from Ocado since they started but have never banked with or had any connection to Barclays .

And as many have pointed out, Ocado’s explanation is quite obviously bullshit.
