Guess the dicks have figured out which biological sex that makes most household shopping decisions.

Wow, I’m quite surprised by the apology

@ramonaqueenbee

@SporadicMincePieMuncher

I visited an Ocado in 2010 when I had a short visit to Croydon. I don't think we have had Ocado in Scotland ever.

@Cursula no!

Did you though?

murasaki · 18/04/2025 16:48

Croydon used to have a Waitrose, maybe she means that. It got shut down due to excessive shoplifting.

CarefulN0w · 18/04/2025 16:49

I used to have an Ocado delivery pass, which went in the 2018 skirmish. 7 years of shopping has gone elsewhere. And I won’t be returning unless they apologise for being wrong about finding the definition of woman offensive.

Peregrina · 18/04/2025 16:50

I have never used Ocado, but I would love it now if multiple cancellations came their way and they started reaping what they sowed.

Felinnefine · 18/04/2025 16:50

Moltenpink · 18/04/2025 16:43

It’s not a real apology is it. They say it wasn’t them guv, it was a contractor (🙄). Then they ‘reservedly apologise’.

They are apologising for what? They don’t say. Read it carefully. It’s nonsense.

ArchibaldBoyd · 18/04/2025 16:51

A temporary contractor that's been in post since 2018? Because that's when it started - their public misogyny - and Ocado knew then and did the sum total of fuck all about it despite being told by numerous customers in 2018.

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 18/04/2025 16:53

This is a very BS non-apology

I'm not here for it and I'm switching to waitrose...

I'm bloody sick of either nearly or actually ordering vegan chicken when i want actual chicken due to their search term wokery....

MrsGusset · 18/04/2025 16:55

Ah, I see Ocado have opted for the “Temp Wot Done It” line of defence - that old chestnut.

How daft do they think we are?

Needmoresleep · 18/04/2025 16:59

In 2018 Ocado were trying to sell their technology to supermarket delivery firms in the US, so took a pro trans approach. They did not want to be called out for transphobia and thus risk export opportunities.

It only took 7 years. Hell of a long time for a temporary contractor.

Nah. I would be very much part of their target market, but will stay loyal to Lidl.

Lark1ane · 18/04/2025 17:04

Blaming a contractor hey?
That translates as:
A big boy did it and then ran away.

They haven't had a weekly shop from me since Billboardgate.
And that's a heck of a lot of money gone elsewhere when I add it up.

I won't be back.

Allthesnowallthetime · 18/04/2025 17:07

@SporadicMincePieMuncher

I think so? Was a smallish shop with products that said Ocado on them. Remember going there particularly because we didn't have Ocado at all where I live. I bought fruit ...

That trip to Croydon stuck in my mind because I was there for an exam and have not been back there since.

Allthesnowallthetime · 18/04/2025 17:09

@murasaki maybe that was it?

I did not do any shoplifting tho.

OvaHere · 18/04/2025 17:09

Well done Ocado, it only took 7 years and a Supreme Court judgement for you to realise that women matter despite being your primary customer demographic.

titchy · 18/04/2025 17:15

Finally Ocado have realised it’s women that do the shopping and not TW…

ATowerOfGiraffes · 18/04/2025 17:15

I'm confused - Justine's post says that Ocado were looking to collab but it was the 2024 manifesto that led to their nonsensical tantrum, and yet some posts say it's been an issue for 7 years? Just want to understand better what time period they need to apologise - properly - for?

"When we included a call to clarify the definition of sex in the Equality Act in our 2024 Mumsnet Manifesto, Ocado – who had been excited about a partnership – abruptly pulled out, citing Mumsnet’s ‘hateful political views’.
Despite repeated attempts to explain our position – as a platform committed to amplifying women’s voices – they’ve refused to speak to us ever since."

Sesma · 18/04/2025 17:16

I have only used them for free delivery offers, perhaps there might be more offers in the offing, the delivery passes are overpriced

senua · 18/04/2025 17:19

I wonder if Ocado have heard of the Streisand Effect.Grin

Bruisername · 18/04/2025 17:25

I stopped using them after the billboard and also after reading about the owners morals

have used waitrose since when I get an online order and it didn’t end up costing me much more at all

I'm curious about the Ocado branded products in Croydon as I thought they only had their own products in recent years

What was the actual post by Ocado? I’ve used them for the last year I’ll stop now and write to them so they know why

Cailin66 · 18/04/2025 18:06

MrsOvertonsWindow · 18/04/2025 14:06

Ha! Been waiting for their response to my email sent after reading Justine's comments yesterday. Hopefully MNHQ will be able to share the direct fulsome apology they've received.

Which thread was that. Thanks.

If you email them there’s a “delete my account” option and a box below where you can add comments as to why, I’ve done it this morning.

notwavingbutsinking · 18/04/2025 18:59

I'm a regular Ocado custimer who somehow missed billboardgate and am now torn - cancel on the basis of past wrongs, or continue with them in recognition of their apology (notwithstanding the fact they seem confused about what they are apologising for, but it's a start)?

Are Waitrose really any better? Our local one seem to be perpetually festooned in LGBTQIA+ bunting.

anyolddinosaur · 18/04/2025 19:29

Ocado left the FTSE 100 last year - earning per share have been declining. https://www.hl.co.uk/shares/shares-search-results/o/ocado-group-plc-ordinary-2p/financial-statements-and-reports

Unfortunately difficult to find a supermarket not tainted by this.
