Guess the dicks have figured out which biological sex that makes most household shopping decisions.

It’s not in line with @JustineMumsnet recollection of events.

But, golden bridge etc. It would be graceful and meaningful for Ocado to reopen negotiations about a partnership.

It would be fabulous if MSM were to interview Justine so she could list all the pusillanimous businesses that need to return to the MN fold.

WandaSiri · 18/04/2025 13:49

Just shows how powerful the SC judgement is. Thank you again, FWS.

I hope Ocado follow through because I get my monthly shop and Christmas shop from there and I really didn't want to have to find somewhere else.

CrocsNotDocs · 18/04/2025 13:58

Ocado wants us to believe that some rogue contractor did this. But they have a long history of targeting gender critical beliefs.

In 2018, a billboard commissioned by the group Standing for Women, displaying the dictionary definition of "woman" as "adult human female," was removed by the advertising company Primesight after accusations of transphobia. Ocado publicly supported Primesight’s decision, tweeting approval and stating they shared Primesight’s values. Here’s the thread from memory lane.

Ocado has been hating on Mumsnet for years. This wasn’t a slip up. I’m not in the UK but if I was, I would be boycotting despite their apology.

Ocado siding with misogynists and agreeing that the word "woman" and its dictionary definition is hate speech | Mumsnet

Mumsnetters in their droves are abandoning Ocado after they sided with advertising company, Primesight, for removing Standing for Women's billboard in...

Ha! Been waiting for their response to my email sent after reading Justine's comments yesterday. Hopefully MNHQ will be able to share the direct fulsome apology they've received.

milski · 18/04/2025 14:10

I'm so disappointed that Ocado decided to weigh in on this debate against their target market. I didn't realise that they had at the time and am still in two minds about cancelling, based on their obvious lie of an apology.

AzurePanda · 18/04/2025 14:13

They’ll be getting a blistering letter from me and I’m not buying their “ contractor “ bullshit.

I’ve thought for the past few years Ocado has been hijacked by ridiculous people (there was a phase where searching for milk first brought up pages of almond and oat milk and the same for chicken and plant based chicken). And I’ve been increasingly fed up at their poor inventory of ingredients that people who actually cook from scratch use. I nearly gave up when a complaint about the lack of suet in November was met with a response of “ oh how sweet, my Granny used to make a Christmas Pudding”.

But this has tipped me over the edge, after 16 years of twice weekly deliveries I’m done.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 18/04/2025 14:15

I would be more impressed if they had the courage of their convictions, such as they are.

No skin in this game, we haven’t used them since the divorce fiasco several years ago.

EasternStandard · 18/04/2025 14:17

So glad this ruling is changing business behaviour. Thank you to FWS and judges.

Testingmypatience1 · 18/04/2025 14:35

Ocado if you are going to bother with an apology at all, then it needs to at least appear genuine!

It seems to me the kind of apology you would get from a teenager that isn’t sorry at all, but doesn’t want to face a backlash nonetheless. It is lacking in remorse or any genuine understanding of the damage trans activism has caused most/all women and girls. Like it doesn’t matter - like we don’t matter.

Well I do matter Ocado, and so do my DDs. Why on earth should I spend thousands of pounds with you every month to be so disrespected? Why should we put up with your political posturing that works to support erasing our identities, our rights and our safety?

Why would I PAY to not matter Ocado?

The contempt some feel on the board of Ocado towards the voices of mumsnet/their customer base shines through loud and clear.

I certainly won’t be coming back until this is fully rectified. I’ll return back to Waitrose (even with their annoying no bag policy) and cancel with Ocado for good. I am so sick of the woke agenda filtering into every corner of my life like a poison.

NebulousDeadline · 18/04/2025 14:40

Ocado don't deliver in NI so unfortunately I can't tell them to get stuffed.
That apology needs to be followed up by actions.

CowboyHatAndBoots · 18/04/2025 14:43

There is no way that one temporary contractor made the comments and decision to not partner with mumsnet completely on their own. Utter bullshit.

Allthesnowallthetime · 18/04/2025 14:44

I have only ever been in an Ocado once in my life. I don't think I have missed out at all.

Other supermarkets are available!

Have you?

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 18/04/2025 14:49

I haven’t used them for years it’s more expensive for me to do my shopping there.

But I’m a woman so they probably wouldn’t want my money anyway so no loss to them.

Is ocado a shop? I thought it was a delivery service.

SerenaSemolena · 18/04/2025 14:54

I use ocado all the time. I will boycott them now, though.
I like they have publicly apologised but want to at least see adverts on MN before I will use them again.

CowboyHatAndBoots · 18/04/2025 14:55

@JustineMumsnet Just wondering if Ocado have apologised properly to you directly, or is this comment on X blaming it on a temporary contractor the only ‘apology’.

How have you been in an Ocado?! Bizarre.

Anyway, I an on the fence, as it is an apology.

JemimaTab · 18/04/2025 15:01

Do “temporary contractors” really make the decisions about who to advertise with? Because I’m inclined to think not.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 18/04/2025 15:03

I was here at the time and I worked out I was one of Ocado's top customers at the time. Am going to dig out the letter I sent them to which of course I got no adequate reply.

TheBonfireOfTheBinaries · 18/04/2025 15:07

“A big boy did it and ran away”.

Misspotterer · 18/04/2025 15:13

Was just about to post a link to Justine's interview.
Ocado in damage control mode trying to blame a random employee. Was the random employee also the reason they refused to engage ever since? So fed up of everyone bloody lies at the moment.

LlamaDrama20 · 18/04/2025 15:13

Can someone give me the gist of the original post from Ocado (now deleted) - I'm a bit behind on all this!

JillAndJenTheFlowerpotMen · 18/04/2025 15:14

I dunno. I think if someone apologises then taking the apology at some version of face value is the right response. Fair play to them for apologising. It’s not as if all the other major retailers weren’t doing a version of the same thing.
