The Bluestocking: where conversation should supersede cards

The Blue Stockings Society was founded by women emphasising education and mutual cooperation. Men could attend as invited guests, but in this Women's Pub, they are only welcome to peer enviously through the windows.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Stockings_Society

All women welcome!

All tastes catered for.

All food containing calories will not increase waistlines.

All drink containing alcohol will not intoxicate beyond the mildy merry and slightly inhibited stage. Guaranteed no hangovers.

Don't mind the gerbils, hamster, capybaras, quokkas and other assorted rodents. They're all female, all staff and very accommodating...

Wow Boily that is fabulous! Did you write all the lyrics or did Suno do it for you from your prompt?

I gave it what's in the the screen shot. It did the song as a man mentioning a king. I figured out how to change bits and added boiled and queen and female voice.

The rest is AI I'm very impressed!

It's described as red but it looks pretty purple to me!

Love them! I agree the red looks purple, and the PJ bottoms have pockets!!
I thought they were remarkably cheap but top and bottom are separate. Still a snip, compared with the silk ones.😨

Maybe we could all buy a pair, a sort of Bluestocking Uniform😄

MarieDeGournay · 09/02/2025 18:09

. "Enhanced with dark green modal trim, a revere collar, long sleeves, and dark green modal-covered buttons, this pyjama top offers a refined silhouette and timeless charm. The shaped bottom hem adds a flattering finish to the design, ensuring you look and feel your best as you unwind in comfort. "

'a refined silhouette and timeless charm'? - Fexsake lads, they're fecking PYJAMAS!🙄

I like that they only OFFER 'a refined silhouette and timeless charm', presumably so one can't sue them under the Trade Descriptions Act if one remains rough, dumpy and charmless, even when wearing their jimjams..

Note the use of 'one' instead of 'you' because of course no Stockinger could ever be rough, dump or charmless; we all have a refined silhouette and timeless charm, in or out of these jimjams, n'est-ce pas?Wink

Boiledbeetle · 09/02/2025 18:13

I Did actually solve my pj problem. They aren't stylish. They are very thin which assists with the middle of the night full on sweat. They are cheapish (Asda) and I bought me enough pairs to only have to do the washing once a week. It does make my kitchen look like there is a glitch in the matrix though when I've hung the washing up to dry!

Well, DH supports Liverpool.

And I playfully said yesterday that if Plymouth Argyle beat them today in the FA Cup that Plymouth would be giant killers. And he was smug enough to say that Liverpool wouldn't even play the first team as they would beat them easily.

Who is smug now???

😏 Me!

Myrtle, we can hear the match from our decking, so we watched it on the telly til the penalty and final whistle, when we ran outside to do a victory dance. Liverpool were smug to field a second team.
Well done, my little lion.

FuzzyPuffling · 09/02/2025 18:27

PS, Yes, someone got a parking ticket for plonking their car on the double yellow lines at the end of our road.

Whaaat? Plymouth beat them?😮
I've just read the reports - weakened side, so serves them right.
There's still the other cup - Carabao I think it's called now. Crikey, Myrtle, that's a shedload of smugness to relish for days? weeks? to come!!

At least Ireland/ I-ur-land won today🏉☘🙂

I am proud to live in the Smuggest City in the South West.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/02/2025 18:47

Ireland deserved that victory, @MarieDeGournay - they outplayed Scotland, hands down.

To be fair, DH is very pragmatic about the loss. He thought Liverpool played poorly and underutilised the talent they had on the bench.

And as they are on track to win the Premiership and the European Champions League, this loss means they won't have to play the extra games for the FA Cup and can focus on the important games. The Caribou Cup is of lesser status than the FA Cup but they're still in with a chance.

@Boiledbeetle I had a look at Suno but it wants me to sign up before it will let me try it out so I'll skip it. Pity about that - I had an idea for a Kate Bush style song about a witch based on a poem I wrote that wouldn't work with music the way it is but might work with the kind of adaptation the AI made with your prompt.

I don't have a timeless refined silhouette to live up to (although I am a Gracious Lady) so I think I'll stick with my extra large Dunne's PJs at less than half the price, but might buy a flannel pair. Those Asda ones are very pretty, but not so much so that I'd travel to foreign parts for them.

Very unlikely. He doesn't have access to my devices, pass codes or usernames.

Yet I know his passcode 🤣 and can access all of his, aside from his work laptop, but that's really only because I haven't tried that one

🤔

Makes passing him off as alive whilst we all dig up your patio then relay it and add some flowering boarders much easier.

MyrtleLion · 09/02/2025 20:10

And besides, he's a walrus. So no competition for a lion. Just my paw on his flipper is enough to stop him.

Exactly! Better make sure the borders flower every year. I wouldn't want anyone to find him when putting in new bedding plants...
