The Blue Stockings Society was founded by women emphasising education and mutual cooperation. Men could attend as invited guests, but in this Women's Pub, they are only welcome to peer enviously through the windows.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Stockings_Society

All women welcome!

All tastes catered for.

All food containing calories will not increase waistlines.

All drink containing alcohol will not intoxicate beyond the mildy merry and slightly inhibited stage. Guaranteed no hangovers.

Don't mind the gerbils, hamster, capybaras, quokkas and other assorted rodents. They're all female, all staff and very accommodating...

They are excessively pink. But at that price they are only theoretical pyjamas and therefore the colour is immaterial.

The material is also immaterial .

MarieDeGournay · 09/02/2025 12:16

The pink is bad enough, but silk? can't stand the feel of it. Which is just as well cos veggies like me can't be doing with it as little creatures are boiled to get it - boiled beetles✔ boiled silkworms✖

Though I heard something about getting silk fibre without killing the worms? Don't know the details - probably allowing them to roam freely outdoors, and paying them a living wage in return for the silk?Wink
I think the hunt for the Perfect PJ, costing less than a Queen's Ransom, goes on... Of course, there's always the Marilyn Monroe option of what to wear to bed: Chanel NO. 5Grin

Britinme · 09/02/2025 12:20

In summer I'm a fan of the MM option but considerably cheaper. Deodorant will do.

DeanElderberry · 09/02/2025 12:32

I go for Dunne's mens pure cotton pjs. Sadly no pink options, but they come in nice roomy sizes, though I really should shorten the legs. Decorative contents not included, as they always say.

Wouldn't they be great if they came in a purple, white and green check instead of just blue?Smile

Thank you for the foot-warming gerbils, @MyrtleLion! Toasty warm.

I do wear slippers all day, in the winter (which, in Scotland, lasts from about the end of July to the end of June the next year) - nice, fleecy warm ones. And I don't go out very often, so bare feet in sandals aren't that much of a problem either.

My sod-the-diabetes day yesterday included a hot cross bun, Lindor truffles, spaghetti carbonara and date sponge with caramel topping - none of it spiked my blood sugar badly, and my blood sugar this morning was 6.2 which is very respectable. It makes no sense to me.

Can I ask that fingers/feelers/pedipalps etc be firmly crossed this afternoon, when Scotland meet Ireland at Murrayfield, please and thank you!

It's all go around here - we want to put a pod point on the front of the house, for charging the car, but our fuse box is slap bang in the centre of the house, in the cupboard under the stairs, and the pod point people have said that we are responsible for making sure the cable is in place, from the fuse box to the front of the house, so all they have to do is nail on the pod point and connect it all up.

Dh has been mulling this over for weeks - he has mapped out the structures under the floor, examined all the possible routes for the cable to take, and this weekend, he has taken up all the laminate and underlay in the hall, so he can see where he can cut a hatch in the floor to feed the cable through. So currently the floor is bare chipboard, with a couple of IKEA rugs on it, and his entertainment for the afternoon is cutting holes in the floor.

Still - it is keeping him out of worse mischief.

I'm afraid I shall abstain, Woley. One Scottish grandparent and one Irish grandparent here, so I'm firmly on the fence for this one.
Also not sure I can cross my claws!

Totally!

Have to say it's been a while since I used Suno, and so did my usual of typing in a few lines expecting them to just repeat endlessly and was very surprised to get a fully formed song when I pressed create!

ErrolTheDragon · 09/02/2025 14:52

I don't even know, or care, which sport is being contested. I'll guess it's a bunch of blokes playing a ball game... no interest whatever in any of those.

Britinme · 09/02/2025 14:56

Wow Boily that is fabulous! Did you write all the lyrics or did Suno do it for you from your prompt?

ErrolTheDragon · 09/02/2025 14:56

Re PJs and other nightwear, I usually get Lands End. They do good cotton and petite sizes so the arms and legs are the right length. Only in the sale or with a discount code - even a tenth of the cost of those pink ones seems a lot to me for nightwear.

Britinme · 09/02/2025 14:57

@ErrolTheDragon - oh I don't know... boys playing with their balls... it's been a while...

A friend of mine used to say [mostly to wind up her DH when he was watching footie] 'Why don't they just give each side their own ball, then there'd be no need to carry on like that?'😂

I like watching sport on telly, but only if I don't care about who is playing and who wins, so turning on the telly and seeing one bunch of people, male or female, playing some sport against another bunch of people, without knowing who they are is the ideal. I can just focus on on the athleticism and skills.

So I'll probably dip into the rugby match today to see how we ['Ireland, I-ur-land..'] are doing, but I don't want to get more involved than that..

And there's a hurling match involving two teams I have no connection with on another channel, so I can get my fill of athleticism and skills without the emotionsSmile

lcakethereforeIam · 09/02/2025 15:50

I've been out and we've just put the rugby on. I'm completely neutral. Perhaps I'd like Scotland to win because I feel sorry for their coach, I believe they've not beaten Ireland at all under his tenure. Also that guy playing the bagpipes on the roof, it's blowing a gale. Must be freezing round his nethers, he deserves something for that.

I've had a word and the hamster, she's called Chris, has been moved to clearing the tables. Suites her skill set much better.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/02/2025 17:01

It hasn’t been a stellar performance for Scotland.

Dh now has a plan to get the cable run for the pod point, and has a line run through so he can pull the cable through when it arrives. And the hall floor is still safe to walk on.
