Lovely, a chocolate cake and drink for me, and carob equivalents for the dogs.
(That serves as the seasonal public service reminder not to leave mince pies, fruit cake and chocs within snaffling distance. )

I was thinking exactly the same thing. The dog looks very ensconced on the comfy cushion.

As I understand it, at the Bluestocking we all get what we like, so lemon drizzle, fruit cake, or sponge sandwich for me please. No chocolate on or in cake.

Except eclairs of course, where there's enough cream to mitigate the chocolate.

Ugly, disreputable or ridiculous? You've just summed up every single dog there is.

It's strange how people will very often stop to speak to you if you have a dog with you, when they would never do that ordinarily.

The lovely thing about dogs is that they demonstrate that being ugly disreputable and ridiculous just makes them even more adorable. Ditto being smelly and a bit stupid. The perfect role models for us all.
