Yeah, the gate to keep chinchillas out was proving technically difficult so we've gone for the alternative approach of, um, a highly hydrophobic fur treatment so that rather than getting waterlogged they get repelled by water. They'll be ok in relatively weak alcohol solutions like beer but I think would get wetted by immersion in spirits so please only use vessels smaller than a chinchilla for those. (Not that a chinchilla sized gin would do any of us much good anyway )

I'm curious about how granny managed the logistics of that - guessing it was a US internal flight perhaps for thanksgiving. Though the idea of going through passport control as a dinosaur is entertaining.

Do you think if you managed to suspend a hydrophobic chinchilla above a puddle, they'd spin fast enough that you'd have created a perpetual motion machine?

On a side note, I'm glad I'm not a chinchilla. Only having dust baths sounds kinda itchy...

I literally woke up this morning thinking I had an idea for a Christmas name for @FuzzyPuffling...FuzzyPuffing! It's Christmassy because there's no L.

I should probably just have tried harder to get back to sleep.
