We have a scalextrik track?! Do we have a Lego room too?

Yes AND a model railway layout!

Cooooooooollll! I'm off - send a gerbil with a sandwich to the model railway room if I'm not back in six or seven hours...

lcakethereforeIam · 03/12/2024 15:19

Now we do. You're advised to put on appropriate safety shoes at the entrance.

Eta one of the model railway tracks runs through the kitchen. Write your order on a post-it, stick it on a carriage and it should be on a truck on the next circuit.

Is this international harsh on husbands day or what? The woman who was testing my eyes earlier spoke in unappreciative tones of her spouse's clever seasonal shopping. You'd think she'd have appreciated his coming home with Grinch-themed pyjamas for all the family.

Chinchillas look very charming.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 03/12/2024 15:34

@DeanElderberry It depends what she sent him out for.

A schoolfriend had chinchillas, so I googled to check if I remembered correctly that they need Fuller's Earth in a goldfish bowl for dustbaths - they do. The AI needlessly added a goldfish but hey.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 03/12/2024 15:37

The w/s I checked says 'Chinchillas bathe in lava dust, never water' which is useful since we discovered this last week. I don't know how we never noticed it before.

Can we have a Meccano room?

JanesLittleGirl · 03/12/2024 16:01

ifIwerenotanandroid · 03/12/2024 15:37

Can we have a Meccano room?

If you ask politely.

Please can we have a Meccano room?

Yes, Android, of course we can have a Meccano room.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/12/2024 16:01

Lego, Meccano, scalextrix, train ... basically all my big brothers' toys (they were nice DBs fortunately) . Plus my personal favourite in that genre, K'nex...

I'm back from Bordeaux and made some pottery yesterday. Trimmed today. Going to make a fair few of these.

Eeeexcellent!

FuzzyPuffling · 03/12/2024 16:33

I knew someone who had a chinchilla and let it roam around the house. It fell in the loo and drowned!!!
Please do not let the chinchillas anywhere near the loos.

Shock Obviously the seats in our loos are never up, but with all the little animals it's a good thing we already have advanced kit which automatically lowers the lid when you flush and raises it when a person enters the cubicle.

However we will need to add some sort of biometric gate into the spa to stop the poor things tumbling into the capybara tub.

So Peak Woo was dormant for all those years. .who knew?

Bannedontherun · 03/12/2024 16:52

With no men about surely the toilet lid is a none issue.

On games do we have giant Jenga have looked everywhere

lcakethereforeIam · 03/12/2024 17:02

I think the gerbils were using the jenga bricks to raft down the stream in the summer.

Talking of the stream, the willows have been garlands with Christmas lights that are reflected in the water. Looks absolutely breathtaking.

I thought it would be the work of a moment to get the AI to produce an image of two doors in a wall, one tall labelled 'Ladies' & one short labelled 'Gerbils' (geddit?) with a security quokka standing there.

Nope. Two AI's & umpteen tries later, the first two are the best I can come up with.

AsWithGlad · 03/12/2024 17:13

I had a chinchilla when I was younger. My dad brought it home unexpectedly: I don’t remember if I had been asking for a pet but it was the only one I ever had. He said he’d rehomed it because it pulled out its fur so wasn’t any use for the purpose its previous owner had originally acquired it (don’t think about it.)

Mine definitely had a dust bath. If I remember correctly they nip.

Perhaps the Bluestocking can just have the sort that don’t?

I've lost the will. I just input your entire post.

Came out rather nicely.
