Speaking for myself, you're dead right there! Marbles strictly optional in the Magpie household.

I agree - sanity is overrated.

Can opener?

Could be useful. The gerbils do struggle a bit.

The toucan could carry a lot of gerbils.
Or drink Guinness.

Slightly worried by the one that calls it "the food OR champions"...

If you think that's bad you should see the AI's first efforts...

The dangers of speedreading when catching up on an afternoon's posts:
I read this one:

I rather wish you'd opened the consulting room door so the whole waiting room could hear you & shouted, "STOP TELLING ME ABOUT YOUR TESTICLES! I'VE TOLD YOU BEFORE, I'M NOT INTERESTED!" then walked out & slammed the door. Er, how did he bring the convo round to testicles, anwyay?

and the next post that caught my eye was
Magpiecomplex
What does he do with it? I need to know more!
FuzzyPuffling
He uses it in his family business. Might be a bit outing if I say what, but it's probably not what you'd expect.
I'll pm.you

😮What? 🎶Boily's doctor has only one big...🎶??
Oh I see... it's Puffling's nephew's Routemaster that is used in his family business. Phew😂

Well it could, but they don't look very comfortable.

I want to win the euromillions and replace ALL my socks, I seem to have barely a pair without at least one hole at a toe or a heel, and apart from the discomfort it creates an atmosphere of Dickensian squalor. I suppose I could start buying a pair or two a week.

I have very long and poky big toes. The pair I put on this morning were fine until lunchtime, then my right toe broke through. Ugh. Bring on the €140,000,000.

I've been known to do that with bedsheets. Irritating, isn't it?

Catiette · 12/11/2024 19:49

I'm glad everyone, cat and humans, are hopefully recovering from recent medical adventures - but so sorry they were needed (and went far from smoothly in all cases). Best wishes to all for successful follow-ups (and second attempts) - and in foiling cats' persistent efforts to eat everything they shouldn't (and rejecting what they should).

And the description of the nook upthread was an absolute delight - total escapism in 15 or so lines.

The lethally wielded tin-openers and gerbil-carrying toucan brought me back down to earth.

I tried to get Gemini to produce a version of that with every gerbil holding a pint of Guinness, but ended up in a never ending cycle of "put the gerbils in the toucan's beak", "more gerbils" and "give every gerbil a pint of Guinness". Each time it got something right, it got something else wrong again.

Aaargh! I was messing around with an image generator, and inadvertently discovered a dark secret in the corner of the pub.

All I asked for was a pub with gerbils and seagulls. But on horrified closer examination, I discovered what may possibly be a gergull...

Ah, someone left the cellar door open again. We're not quite sure who's doing the forbidden genetic experiments down there, but we have our suspicions.

If I won lots of money the last thing I'm buying is bloody socks!

This was after I got rid of all the pairs with holes, and is only a fraction of the fuckers!
