Idiots! Although I don't blame them for not doing anything.

When an operation went wrong years ago they used that signed form to get out of accepting any responsibility for their complete incompetence during the operation!

This time, for the same operation not only did I have to sign the form but they sent a very long letter prior to the operation spelling out all the possible complications and that it was entirely my decision to go through with it despite knowing it could result in death. It was very much a letter written by the legal department rather than the gynaecologist.

You shouldn't have had to go back to the back of the queue though as it was the hospital fault.

OMG those are scary terms and conditions - will be keeping my fingers crossed for you

The op was back at the end of August, today is the first time I actually get to talk to the main surgeon! I spoke to the second surgeon the morning after but he was only there in case something went wrong (it did, they tore my spleen) so couldn't really tell me what was what so I got a broad overview of what happened, but today I can find out exactly what happened!

Such fun!

The gerbils have done me a good breakfast to keep me going mind! Although it may be slightly to early for the pint!

BoiledBeetle it is never too early for the pint and the pint glass looks solid enough to thump your surgeon on the head with, should that prove necessary. So sorry to hear about the problems and hope that beetles heal rapidly and fully (can you also survive nuclear holocausts or is that just cockroaches? are cockroaches a type of beetle and do naice beetles talk to them? Or am I displaying my coleopterological and entomological ignorance here?)

Igmum · 12/11/2024 09:22

Yes and good luck @FuzzyPuffling too

ErrolTheDragon · 12/11/2024 09:36

I just checked wiki, cockroaches aren't beetles.

Whatever else one says about the Internet, the factual scientific pages on wiki are wonderful.

lcakethereforeIam · 12/11/2024 09:45

I've been away, there were a lot of posts to catch up on, and a new thread, so I missed that Puffling also had an appointment. Sorry, about that. All the best to you.

MarieDeGournay · 12/11/2024 09:53

Best wishes to Puffling and Boiled and anybody who ever has to exchange their Blue stockings for those while elastic ones with no toes😬

Hope you're back in the pink in the Blue very soonSmile

Boiledbeetle · 12/11/2024 11:13

God! My appointment was for 10.30 am. Just overheard the reception telling the 10.00 am patient that there is still a patient in front of them waiting to go in!

Luckily I brought snacks!

Boiledbeetle · 12/11/2024 11:34

Soooo bored! (God knows who the suitcase begins to!)

Chersfrozenface · 12/11/2024 11:51

What have you been chucking on the floor, Boily?

I just hope the time they're taking with patients means that you'll get a full explanation. Eventually.

DeanElderberry · 12/11/2024 11:53

Poor BoredBeetle, waiting around in hospitals is grim.

Playing candy crush they keep falling on the floor when I zap them!

Boiledbeetle · 12/11/2024 12:07

I'm going slightly mad!

And no I haven't snacked on the head of the patient sat next to me! Honest!

Last time I was in for an operation, my attractive stockings were a dark teal colour! With red oversocks to keep my footsies warm.

I used to make costumes. I can sew on sequins. What's the pay like?

Count me in for the sewing too!

I have two poorly mens at home today - ds3 has some sort of fluey thing, and hasn't yet emerged from his bedroom, where he is being nursed by Elsie the labrador who loves him to distraction. I'm sure a 27kg hot water bottle is just what a chap needs when he is ill. Dh was supposed to be getting up at 3am, to head for London on the 4.28, but woke up in the night feeling poorly (possibly ds3's flu thing), so has cancelled London and is working from home.

I am not glad they are ill, but glad dh didn't go to London - I know it's selfish but I hate the days when he is away from before crack of dawn until late in the evening. He needs the time away from home, and likes all the travelling (strange man) - it's good for his mental health, so I have to put up with it.

Fingers crossed for everyone having medical appointments today - I hope the news is all good.

I went for my first diabetic eye screening yesterday - the NHS website said it would take half an hour, and I'd need eye drops to dilate the pupils, which would leave my vision blurry, so dh drove me, and was prepared for a long wait. In fact I was in and out in under 5 minutes, and didn't need any eye drops. Now I just wait for the results - being the NHS, I expect it will take weeeeeeks.

Spartacus hasn't realised yet that there is a cat flap in the pub door!

<screeching noises>

OK so yes Spartacus has realised there is a cat flap! However apparently it would be beneath Spartacus to use it.

The gerbils are currently using it when they forget their swipe cards.

Spartacus is clearly related to CatBastard. CatBastard has a perfectly good cat flap in the back door, and we have even cut a hole in the back gate, so he can walk through rather than having to leap up onto the fence, to get into the back garden - but Sir would much rather that the staff let him in and out of the front door.

He is prepared to use the cat flap to screw with us, though. He will get himself let out of the front door, and then dashes round the house and back in through the cat flap, then turns up by the front door, glaring at us to let him out again. One evening he did this three times - at which point I decided to ignore him, and went to bed.

Thank you. All was well and healing as it ought. The surgeon agreed he needs to do eye 2 soon, as the eye imbalance is awkward! So eye 2 on 9th December.

Hope you're OK Boily.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 12/11/2024 13:28

That's good news, @FuzzyPuffling - and I'm glad the second eye is being done fairly promptly - a nice, early Christmas present.

By the way - did you know that PoppyScotland are doing an enamel poppy badge with a puffin, this year? I saw it and thought of you.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/11/2024 13:32

You can start dreaming of a properly white rather than yellow Christmas, puffling!

Excellent, you'll be seeing in the new year with much clearer vision than last year! 9th December is literally days away!

I'm currently in angry mode. Fucking men thinking they know best! bloody male gynecologist who also managed to make a conversation about my reproductive system about men's testicle. FFS.

He was so proud telling me he'd got rid of my pain and was rather annoyed when I informed him that actually no he hasn't because he hasn't removed the thing that's fucking hurting. There was blustering from him, raised voices from me and now I've got to have an MRI when they can get me an appointment.

Waiting for transport home now.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/11/2024 13:37

Oh beetle, how very, very unreasonable of you to injure a male doctor's pride.

Hope you're home soon and you don't have to wait too long for the MRI.Flowers

FuzzyPuffling · 12/11/2024 13:37

Oh bless you Boily that sounds enormously frustrating, especially after your long wait. I'm sorry it was such an unsatisfying appointment.

Let's hope so. I'm holding out for new specs and proper seeing for my birthday near the end of January.
