As ever, I should've made notes as I went along. Which pairing was this?

I think this is just a glimpse into android's secret lab. I don't think we will get more details on that, but I imagine it's a modification rather than a pairing. And although she looks mild and interested, I'm sure there's an internal mwahahaha! going on

This is the best the AI would do (Marie + beetle gave her butterfly wings🙄).

Why no moose-headed woman, AI?

That first picture is disturbingly intimate

ifIwerenotanandroid · 19/11/2024 11:59

I'm sure there's an internal mwahahaha! going on - always, whatever I'm doing.

That first picture is disturbingly intimate - affectionate, I'm sure.

Eventually managed to get Marie de Gournay sitting with her moose-baby

Bluestocking: Do androids dream of electric hair?
larklane17 · 19/11/2024 12:21

That's a great picture android.
We are going to need a bigger creche....

MarieDeGournay · 19/11/2024 12:35

I had to go and do something and missed an opportunity to be pedantic AND a close encounter of a disturbing kind with a moose!

Knowing that reindeer with antlers at this time of year are female, the males having shed theirs - so yes Rudolf et al. are all wimmin - I googled 'female moose antlers' in the hopes that the moose that was getting over-familiar in Image 1 was a female. Apparently, sometimes female moose do have antlers, but it all gets very tragic very quickly -

.. in the rare cases where female moose have antlers, their testosterone levels are pretty high. The elevation in testosterone in such female moose may come from a brain tumor. It may also be a result of an ovarian defect.
Unsurprisingly, female moose that have antlers typically have deformed antlers. Do Female Moose Have Antlers? (Complete Information!) - Exploration Squared

So I was probably comforting a poor female moose with high testosterone, a brain tumour and an ovarian defect😢

I like Image 3 where I'm riding on the moose, obviously astride, but cleverly displaying a second foot so it looks like I'm riding sidesaddle 😄

And may I say, inkymoose, if I'd know my offspring would look like that, I might have given more positive consideration to the idea of motherhood😂

Ah Moomins...SnorkMaiden was my favourite.

I love the Moomins too - though Little My used to get on my nerves. I feel that Moominmama is my spirit twin.

One of my knitting friends is a massive Moomin fan, and her husband goes to Finland for business, and brings her back Moomin goodies. She has a Moominmama who is almost up to her shoulder, in height. And her lovely dh bought me back a reusable Moomin shopping bag - it holds knitting now.

I love the knitted balaclava with horns, @inkymoose - though I am not sure ds1 and his wife would be all that happy if I made one for my granddaughter - she'd be lethal with horns!

MarieDeGournay · 19/11/2024 12:49

I love the knitted balaclava with horns,
Hey, that's my baby's head, not a knitted balaclava, how dare you!

And in case you're all sitting there wincing, baby philosopher-moose's* antlers are very small at birth, and grow rapidly until they are shed around the age of 2.

*I started off with mooses' but wasn't sure - which is awkward, noblesse oblige and all that....Grin

lcakethereforeIam · 19/11/2024 12:54

I don't know why but Pete Townsend always reminds me of Snufkin.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/11/2024 13:47

I am hanging my head in shame, @MarieDeGournay.

Thanks for clarifying that the antlers are small at birth. Because I was a bit concerned about the breastfeeding malarkey.

It is entirely reasonable to order biscotti from Waitrose because I want the tin they come in, isn’t it? I’m booking a delivery for my birthday, to have a few treats, and I need a lovely enamel tin with Biscotti written on it, don’t I?

And dh is off to IKEA - he wants one of those car play at rugs for his office (‘cos he’s a grown up), and because I am equally grown up, he is going to buy me a mum and baby otter toy.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/11/2024 14:56

Hum... well it's certainly reasonable to buy that if you routinely keep biscotti in your house but if you don't already have a habit maybe you shouldn't tempt fate?

The otters are adorable, but I'm a bit baffled by what 'car play at rugs' are.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/11/2024 15:27

Oops - sorry about that typo - he wants this play mat, as a rug for his office.

And I am planning to use the biscotti tin for sewing stuff. Or something. Basically I am a sucker for a nice tin, and I must have this one.

My very best Secret Santa gift was a Moomin mug brought back from Finland by a Finnish colleague. So much better than the fishnet socks I got a couple of years before. ( Different ( and rubbish) colleagye) WTF?

Everybody does. You would be unreasonable NOT to have one, so go for it.

Apparently I also need a Monty Bojangles pink cat tin, full of chocolate truffles - but I will make sure that most of the truffles get eaten by other people.

Monty Bojangles truffles are the bees knees.
I have bought Truffle Trunks for family for Christmas. ( I already have the pink cat tin).

I'll eat the truffles for you. While sitting in the corner laughing uproariously at the lengths idiots will go to, to cover up their inadequacies. Not you, Woley, I've had an interesting day at work!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/11/2024 18:35

Have a hot chocolate and tell us all about it, @Magpiecomplex.

FuzzyPuffling · 19/11/2024 18:51

Ah, work...that thing I used to do!
What happened, Magpie?

Magpiecomplex · 19/11/2024 19:29

Can't really talk about it but it is absolutely laughable. My job would be so much easier without the students, and their parents.
