A new thread - with apologies to the gerbils for leaving them out of the title.

there's something appealing about the top picture - I recognise that look that they all have, I reckon some bloke has just called out to them 'Cheer up loves, it might never happen!' and they are wondering which of them is going to say 'It just has...'
The woman on the left in the bottom middle picture looks justifiably pleased with herself because she has just invented the cup-handleGrin
I note there's a range of busts shapes/sizes, which is a step up the previous ubiquitous pertness🙄

lcakethereforeIam · 10/11/2024 17:38

Finally got the sprog to send me the picture she took of the parkin I made. I'm not one to blow my own trumpet but, for a first attempt, I thought it was very nice. It all got eaten up, everyone seemed to enjoy it, even the demon in the back of the picture. In fact, I'd go as far as saying it was unparalleled parkin!

Well parkinned, cake. That looks splendid.

I made a fruit and nut tea loaf to eat with some delicious cheese a friend sent me.

Catiette · 10/11/2024 17:46

It looks gorgeous - is making me want cake!

Re: the recent pics, I was enjoying the detail until I saw the look in Android's eyes bottom-right - she could clearly murder a cuppa!

Ah well, at least it's replaced the budgie-skein nightmares...

I'm sorry, I do feel we need a diagram.

That's a slightly slim and youthful me in the background of picture 4! I hope I'll escape before the sinister android starts to strangle everyone.

Though I suppose a rational machine could view their squeezing a pomegranate into the teapot as a hostile provocation.

That's a superlative diagram! Gold star to the AI!

Magpiecomplex · 10/11/2024 20:37

Are you sure it's not just a novelty teapot Dean?
I've only just realised I'm sporting a mohawk in one of those pictures. Not sure it's a look I approve of.

Catiette · 10/11/2024 20:53

Hadn't noticed the pomegranate or the mohawked magpie 'til you pointed them out. Marvellous!

ETA - And just learnt to spell pomegranate.

Hi all been trying to keep up with the posts, but have been a bit busy. Gosh you all make me laugh.

@inkymoose you made me think about roots in quite a different way. I moved around a lot as a child and young adult and only settled when I met my now husband, some 38 years ago.

I constantly had itchy feet which drove my hubby nuts, i did not think I belonged where I am now but having thought about what you said I think I have put down roots without realising it. So Thank you.

I hope you all don’t mind my personal stories. Having welcomed new baby banned I went to my daughters and son in laws in Cambridge as they were house hunting and needed me to babysit my three year old toddler GC.

when they returned it was a scene out of Kirsty and Phil.

shortlist pros and cons, etc looking at videos.

next day daughter working. went to son in laws fave house with him, on a lovely new development, outside of central Cambridge. No good too near A road dead noisy, got him to show me a house they had not shortlisted, same development.

much better but a shell not a show home. Talked him through

went back to sales and cut a deal that was 50k less than advertised.

soooo I guess us old ladies have some wisdom, they are super excited now after stressing about the shortlist houses and ending up with a better one.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/11/2024 21:41

Oh well done banned!

Still wrestling with the AI. Trying to get a simple scene with our friend the woman philosopher, suitably clad in boots, jeans and a jumper, sitting by the fire in the bluestocking pub beside an elegant android and a magpie. There were actually some horrific depictions of magpies. I did not ask for extra boots, East Asian thingies or legs like pipe cleaners, and when I added a boiled beetle, the android disappeared.

absolutely bloody brilliant, Banned. Also, I am really glad that you liked the allusion to your roots. And to add a small personal note, I felt quite rootless until very recently, when I realised that I was actually living in a place I feel at home.

To be honest sometimes it's hard for me and @ifIwerenotanandroid to be in the same room after our intense but oh so brief marriage. It just brings all the memories flooding back.

Sorry to hear that, Boiled. So poignant ...

meanwhile, here is a scene of the Bluestocking dreamed up by the AI, that's worthy of the one in American Werewolf in London, where the two strangers enter the Slaughtered Lamb pub on the moor, and as they enter all noise ceases and every single person in the pub stares at them.

And don't even think about laughing at the hats.

They're good swimmers, usually have somewhat webbed feet. Not something that mine would do voluntarily though!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 11/11/2024 00:00

I based this lot on Inky's description 'the woman philosopher, suitably clad in boots, jeans and a jumper, sitting by the fire in the bluestocking pub beside an elegant android and a magpie' & added a beetle. I do apologise for the android's er... intrusiveness. And the lack of magpies.

Love the parkin diagram. Very clear. Also, send leftovers south, eh? Please?

Seems to me that the AI persists in blatant stereotyping no matter how we rearrange the instructions. I note the return of the flamboyant boobage, the flirtatious leg crossing and toe-pointing and the sultry glances, none of which were indicated in the description. There is a magpie, but still no Beetle... pfff
