En franglais, in English .... open to all women for company, fun and fabulous artworks. Leave unwanted reality in the porch and come along in.

no no no

Gerbils are on cheering up duty. Busby Berkley dance numbers in glittery costumes please.

The way they're carrying on, any minute now they're going to start miming heartbreaking ballads about the emigrant experience and sleeping late on Sunday so they never get to Mass.

sob, sniff

Happy gerbils please, colourful gerbils, bright gerbils being funny, dancing.

How well would this read if 'women' was substituted for 'gerbils' throughout? Are gerbils semi-sentient support creatures that exist purely for our convenience and delight?

Did you know that one also does theatre work?

Their portrayal of Hamlet was sublime!

Is that a Gilbert O'Sullivan reference, Deano? As in :
well in that case will we please be kind enough
If not on Sunday, to go to mass on Monday
We will

It's a Ralph McTell reference - he was on the radio this morning and I'm still a bit wobbly.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/09/2024 19:29

I don't think I could bear to see the gerbil ophelia...fortunately I've not seen any evidence of the AIs having been trained on the pre-Raphaelites.

The penny has just dropped. Our gerbils are all actors and theatre folk in-between jobs, aren't they?

Although I did prefer their portrayal of Malvolio

At the Bluestocking, yes.

Magnificent cross-gartering there!

This is where I admit I once went to a Ralph McTell concert and it was bloody brilliant (and I met him afterwards)

DeanElderberry · 29/09/2024 19:33

Gerbils are creative and enterprising sentient creatures but like all artists they have to tailor their output to their audience.

We don't want them forming Trades Unions and demanding grant support, do we? Do We?

They get paid in ...well, whatever it is that gerbils would want to be paid in.

Where do you think they are when your food is taking too long to arrive?

I think you'll be all right. This is what it conjured up when asked for a Pre-Raphaelite gerbil!

Very soulful but looking as though they've picked up some long-haired cat genes somewhere along the way.

FuzzyPuffling · 29/09/2024 19:46

I Iove Ralph McTell. I want to lots of his concerts as a student and had all his albums. Oh happy days.

Now, do gerbils perform G&S ( I can imagine them in Iolanthe) ?

Or a gerbil.orchestra?

ErrolTheDragon · 29/09/2024 19:46

I note we're nearly but not quite ready to need new premises. I'm about to disappear off to watch episodes 3&4 of season 3 of Slow Horses. I don't think I can follow that and this at the same time...So please keep an eye on the post count and someone move us on.

They look a bit like fancy Guinea pigs

Who knew there was so many Ralph McTell fans on here!!!

Dumbo12 · 29/09/2024 20:14

I too went to concerts of his, back when I was a mere child! Me and my friend Sheila went to see him a couple of times when we did our o and a levels.
ETA I mean Ralph McTell.

FuzzyPuffling · 29/09/2024 20:28

My favourite album of his is "Not til tomorrow ". Oh when I was young....

Ralph is playing sort of locally soon, but it's all sold out. Boo hoo.

Love the operetta gerbils.
