En franglais, in English .... open to all women for company, fun and fabulous artworks. Leave unwanted reality in the porch and come along in.

I'm sure we've all seen this - Japanese crows using pedestrian crossings for food preparation.

I went to a very interesting Darwin Day lecture about intelligence in jays a few years ago - here's a piece describing some of the work

I'd not seen that before I don't think. Clever little things aren't they!

It feels like an urban legend, but I have seen London pigeons using the Tube to get around. Hop on, stand by the door patiently and hop off again at the next stop.

That's stunning!

But think how many times the gerbils had to try to get their routine perfect! They must be exhausted!

I'm currently imagining the acts on the next series of gerbils got talent

That looks like a couple of acts from the stunning 'Cirque du Gerbeil'Smile

The first attempt was more of an avant-garde dance troupe...

And here they are in action.

Gerbils proving that their creative talents are many and varied by dancing the can can. The first attempt put them in frilly skirts with tweed waistcoats and bow ties, which was a more non-binary approach than I was expecting...

They are really rather good , even the one with three legs! I'd pay to watch them!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 29/09/2024 12:36

Mealtimes at the Bluestocking are different somehow, since the gerbils discovered modern dance.

The gerbils are clearly quite wasted in their food delivery role, and were probably driven to drink by artistic frustration. I can see the cabaret bar being a massive success, but where will the new culinary specialists be recruited from?

I think Errol has already answered this one. Japanese crows!

Oh no! Can't see it, though one has a paw on its knee & another has a tail end coming off its paw. These are very minor things compared to the beauty of their dance.

All the animals of the world are dancing. Even the fishrabbits.

Boiledbeetle · 29/09/2024 13:07

Did @EdithStourton actually get her fry up?

Ah I see @Magpiecomplex has stepped into the kitchen.

DeanElderberry · 29/09/2024 13:08

Edith was okay, a few of the less dissipated gerbils got up and did their duty by 11.07.

Magpiecomplex · 29/09/2024 13:09

@Boiledbeetle supervisory only, I'm interviewing the Japanese crows for the role.

I presumed you were the one taking the photo. Nice to see you are multi tasking supervising and interviewing. And on a Sunday as well! There's no rest for the wicked!

Magpiecomplex · 29/09/2024 13:14

I had an interview a bit like that once. They'd set me an Excel test to work through, but kept asking me questions while I was doing it. Neither task got my full attention!

MarieDeGournay · 29/09/2024 13:18

The wasted gerbils falling asleep on the fried egg - the Corps de Ballet [the junior dancers at the Opéra in Paris were called 'les rats' - I'm sure they meant les gerbilles] - the astonished faces at the Magic Show - I'm wiping the tears away I'm laughing so much.
What a bunch of sheer geniuses you all are, the 'thanks' button is totally inadequate to show my appreciationSmile

And Magpie - a bit of sartorial determinism there, you were born for the limelight in that plumage!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 29/09/2024 13:23

Yes, the open-mouthed gerbils were so cute.

Of mine, I particularly liked the gerbil doing the old, "You're my best mate, you are," to the fried egg. I didn't ask for that!

On the other hand, I tried to do a 'Cirque du Gerbeil' scene for you, but for once the AI insisted on spelling it properly & would not be swayed.
