The original premises are getting crowded, we need to expand.

Welcome all women, and well behaved animals.

I'm pleased to see the seagulls have their uses.

Steve can bring some gin, Kevin can follow at a safe interval afterwards.

I heard that Steve is missing in action. Last seen getting amorous with a refuse lorry. He is survived by his wife Sharon and three eggs.

Bannedontherun · 22/08/2024 20:44

Hi all, busy week gardening for a living. Got me thinking today in view of the flavour of the posts on FWR.

I often salvage beautiful gardens where older folks have gone into denial about what they can and cannot do, and about what is happening in their treasured place before calling me in.

It usually takes me several seasons to eliminate overgrowth and self seeding weeds, and quite a bit of replanting to stave of further decline and weed spread.

Eventually order is restored and i can reduce my visits an attention as order and balance is returned.

anyway off to the meadow as the sun has not set here yet.

Oh no, poor Steven. He will be sadly missed. I may have to start a crowdfunder benefit for Sharon and the eggs. Otherwise, who will nick sandwiches for them?

This is my ideal job, although as an older person I may be needing assistance myself soon. Not really, my garden is very small and there's not enough to do.

Kevin is busy consoling the widow and choosing a boarding school for the eggs

I do the same job as you. Giving people their gardens back is so satisfying.

Maybe we could have a tidy up of the pub garden and put some new plants in.

Bannedontherun · 23/08/2024 09:05

@Vegemiteandhoneyontoast ooo yes am off today !!!

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 23/08/2024 09:08

@Bannedontherun meh, I'm going out shortly (two gardens today) and won't be back till later, but will join you on my return.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/08/2024 09:35

We are off to see ds1, our dil and granddaughter today - having carefully avoided talking about contentious issues with my relatives. I am baffled that two intelligent people can be so blind. He thinks JKR is the devil and wishes to wish all trans people out of existence - “I know that’s not what she said, but it IS what she MEANT”.

Hey Ho - we live hundreds of miles from them, and do not socialise often. And I have granny cuddles coming, to cheer me up.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/08/2024 09:38

And Bella (the black, pointer-ish rescue) and Elsie would love to come and meet Colin - they love belly rubs, skritches behind the ears, and long walks. Elsie loves chasing balls, and will bring them back to you but then simultaneously refuses to drop them, and wants them thrown again. She hasn’t figured out it can’t be thrown if it is still in her big, daft mouth.

Yin and Yang pups.❤

We are missing them, while we are away. They have got ds3 looking after them for the moment, and then a few days in kennels until we get home on Tuesday (can’t wait).

We have done a couple of nights to see dh’s brother and wife, which was great, then my relatives - more challenging - and soon we will go and get granddaughter cuddles.

EdithStourton · 27/08/2024 16:19

quantumbutterfly · 27/08/2024 16:31

Not me, I fucking hate snow.

Have fun, all those larping as Norsemen.

Meanwhile, I've had a shit weekend, shedloads of bad news. A very large brandy, if there's anyone still serving.

Sorry you've had such a bad weekend Chersfrozenface, hope things start improving soon.
It looks like there's still somebody behind the bar, who hasn't buggered off to Greenland - so - a brandy you said?
Do you want ice with that?😆

In brandy? You what?

I don't mind ice in one inch square cubes in a spritz or a G&T.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 27/08/2024 16:57

@Chersfrozenface Have a hug with that brandy. I'm having a Crohn's flare-up but don't worry, it's not catching.

What's all this about Greenland?

Thanks! I don't think I should go (although the polar bears sound impressive) as my perimeno/meno/postmeno heatwave shows no sign of lessening, & I'd probably melt all the ice.

I suppose I could do some charitable work this winter instead, by standing near pensioners who've lost their winter fuel money. I can warm up a room in about 30 seconds.

Sorry about the ice in your drinks, everyone except Cher.
