Tommy Robinson and Let Women Speak

I've only read about this on Twitter so there's a chance this is being taken out of context, but it looks like Let Women Speak were part of Tommy Robinson's rally in London this past weekend:

This doesn't sit right with me at all. I've been to LWS events and thought I knew what they were about. I've argued against the guilt-by-association tactics that some activists use against LWS when male intruders have turned up to the events, like the neo-Nazis in Melbourne.

But here we see the opposite, LWS deliberately attending far-right fascist marches. This seems inexcusable to me.

Obviously not every GC is homophobic, or even most, even less so a neo-nazi, but every homophobe & every neo-nazo is probably going to be GC.

this is really going to need a definition of GC

unless you are telling me that neo Nazis as a group are critical of gender stereotypes

How is clarifying the post due to vague threats reversing?

I've repeated the same point but without the level of reading comprehension required previously.

If you have an issue with the point make it.

It isnt

it was obviously sarcasm

RufustheFactualReindeer · 05/06/2024 08:15

Apologies i see that the poster changed GC to anti trans and pro single sex places

cant you be for the rights of females not to be in prison cells with males and not be anti trans 🤔

Can you imagine a forum of neo-nazis anguishing over who should be doing the cooking and what message that would send to their kids?

RufustheFactualReindeer · 05/06/2024 08:19

I can actually….its hysterical

i do have a very vivid imagination though

did anyone find out who was actually handing out the leaflets…any evidence that someone random didn’t just buy them from the website?

Jellycats4life · 05/06/2024 08:21

OK, so we’ve gone from “LWS deliberately attending far-right fascist marches”, but when it’s pointed out that LWS isn’t a membership group, it became “LWS stewards deliberately attending far right marches”. Except the two women in question are merely an occasional steward and someone who occasionally attends 🤷‍♀️

The way I see it, people are allowed to attend whatever public events they want, whether they are far right or not, merely handing out leaflets or not. Women attend LWS events from a range of political standpoints but with one common aim. Is that so hard to understand?

RufustheFactualReindeer · 05/06/2024 09:01

As little as that jelly blimey

I used to follow both of them on twitter, and I thought they were fairly involved in LWS. I would be inclined to agree with @AlisonDonut that probably they have their own reasons for going to that event that probably don't involve them or anyone they work for suddenly becoming massive racists.

Waiting for the claim that the Pope was giving out LWS leaflets alongside Tommy Robinson.
Coming soon to a thread on FWR.

Probably,it's only Wednesday.

Depends what you mean by “fairly involved”. Having attended a couple of LWS events, I understand that there is a pool of stewards that are selected to attend events depending on their availability and ability to travel (it’s entirely voluntary and they pay their own travel costs). The stewards are not all KJK’s besties and don’t have her on speed dial. Some don’t really know her or speak with her at all.

FarmerJilly · 05/06/2024 10:48

I don’t understand why Aja and DJ Lippy pulled out on the Countess because of half baked incorrect theories that local thug Andy Heasman would be there (he wasn’t of course) but then attended an actual fascist rally with Tommy Robinson??

Because they're normal individual people who might have a variety of motivations for doing things, not public figures or politicians who have to justify themselves. Given Aja has already been bullied off Twitter over this surely people can leave her alone now?

Just unhiding the thread to say it's fairly easy to see from Aja's twitter why she was at the TR event and there is no charitable explanation for it. She was there because she agrees with it. It says that in the screenshot linked upthread.

DJ Lippy is/was a fairly well known GC feminist, retweets KJK all the time.

The minimisation of this is something else. Tommy Robinson is a racist thug. Anyone who attends his rallies is not someone I'm going to take seriously, if one thinks that's a "purity spiral" one is part of the reason people like him are gaining increasing traction.

"Normal people" don't attend Tommy Robinson rallies

CassieMaddox · 05/06/2024 11:48

And I'm also personally not going to shed any tears about TR sympathisers being "driven off twitter". Good.

You’re perfectly entitled to find that abhorrent. I’m not entirely comfortable with it either.

The point I’m trying to make is this has nothing to do with KJK or LWS, so to use this as further evidence that KJK is a secret fascist and LWS events are secretly far right rallies won’t wash with me.

CassieMaddox · 05/06/2024 11:54

DJ Lippy is clearly not just "a steward". She's been round KJK and her events since the start. She was assaulted at one pf them. She retweets KJK all the time. They are obviously friends.

KJK needs to have a word. But she won't. And the fact she won't says all you need to know.

CassieMaddox · 05/06/2024 11:56

And I don't think anyone said LWS events were far right rallies.

It is very off-putting that someone high profile at LWS events in the UK has also been attending far right rallies and handing out LWS leaflets.

CassieMaddox · 05/06/2024 11:59

Plus all the branding stuff. I don't know. I've said before I've been "unpeaked" - threads like this are why. Either some posters are so down the rabbit hole they genuinely can't see that the branding screams homophobia. Or they can see and don't care. Neither are good if you are someone (like me) who is GC but very supportive of gay people and anti homophobia.

Cassie, has it never occurred to you that the people you're slagging off don't give a flying fuck what you think? That your demand for a 'charitable explanation' of her movements could not be more risible?

Not to mention the crushing irony of you telling off a black lesbian feminist because you don't like Tommy Robinson 😁

A woman you wouldn't even know of if she didn't 'retweet KJK' - the ultimate crime!

Datun · 05/06/2024 12:02

It's your obsession with Posie Parker that leads you to not just follow her, but anyone who retweets her.

Or who she retweets.

It's really not healthy.

TinselAngel · 05/06/2024 12:10

And then the left wonder why they lost the red wall Confused

illinivich · 05/06/2024 12:11

The leaflets are obviously trying to increase people's awareness of safeguarding risks.

Who would want to limit the awareness of safeguarding? Do the children on the people attending the demo not deserve to be safeguarded?
