Tommy Robinson and Let Women Speak

I've only read about this on Twitter so there's a chance this is being taken out of context, but it looks like Let Women Speak were part of Tommy Robinson's rally in London this past weekend:

This doesn't sit right with me at all. I've been to LWS events and thought I knew what they were about. I've argued against the guilt-by-association tactics that some activists use against LWS when male intruders have turned up to the events, like the neo-Nazis in Melbourne.

But here we see the opposite, LWS deliberately attending far-right fascist marches. This seems inexcusable to me.

My sons just sent me this. He is a student at Norwich uni (UEA)

Oh, well that's it then. Conversation over!

AlisonDonut · 05/06/2024 19:25

Do Norwich UEA know that she just got a settlement from Australia for saying the same?

People with a lot more of an axe to grind have made an absolutely stonkingly lucrative sideline suing over stuff like this.

stomachamelon · 05/06/2024 19:34

I just thought it was interesting. I wasn't trying to start anything. My knowledge about this sort of stuff is pretty minimal although I am trying to educate myself.
Apologies.

TinselAngel · 05/06/2024 19:40

That isn't your view. Your view is clearly "nothing to see here" about feminists being on a Tommy Robinson march.

If you can't understand why other people might find that shocking and repellant you need some time away from the right wing Internet resetting into human society.

LOLs

Did she? They probably don’t know

mrshoho · 05/06/2024 19:53

DrSpartacular · 05/06/2024 19:05

Hmm

Blimey Cassie did you write the UEA poster? It's just like one of your posts 😆

TinselAngel · 05/06/2024 20:00

LarkLane · 05/06/2024 19:17

The three o clock scold is running on a bit for you Tinsel. You need to carry an emergency jam buttie for such occasions and keep your strength up while the list of thought crimes is read out.

It's all very Kim Jong Un.

Anyone else spotted on the infamous rally?

It's OK I've got some crisps.

PeppercornMill · 05/06/2024 20:02

I know from my time at UEA that there were a few mouthy students there who forced their opinions on everyone else.

Also the student council once signed up to the wrong Fair Trade agreement. They signed up to the neo-Nazi Fair Trade agreement instead!

Hepwo · 05/06/2024 20:03

AlisonDonut · 05/06/2024 18:19

I support anyone to go to any rally they fucking want to. Because I'm not some sort of narc maniac.

Staggered at that disgusting "slunk off in shame" comment.

These are the people that will be setting the tone if Labour are elected.

EasternStandard · 05/06/2024 20:07

Hounded off by abuse more likely

Who would be proud to be part of that?

It’s next level

NecessaryScene · 05/06/2024 20:08

Who would be proud to be part of that?

Good People, obviously. What Good Person wouldn't be proud when a Bad Person slunk off?

EasternStandard · 05/06/2024 20:17

Idk you hear commentary re abuse online and how it impacts people then you see how it happens

Sazzasez · 05/06/2024 20:18

I think TR is a git & thug. He may still have made a film with some good points in (much like Matt Walsh did).

I have my own feelings about KJK who called a friend of mine a “Hamas-loving socfem” on Twitter, based as far as I can tell on her describing herself in her bio as a “socialist feminist” (certainly not a Hamas supporter in any way: but she had disagreed with KJK). This is irresponsible at the minimum.

But I’m going to the Norwich LWS (health permitting) & hear what women have to say, & will say hi to Aja if she’s there.

If people can’t tolerate them, then, by all means, don’t go.

But will you tolerate me?

I’m not going to vote for TR, or for POW either, BTW.

Exactly. Burn the witch.

This is historically incorrect. The Institute of Sexual Science in the Weimar Republic was opened in 1919 by Jew, Magnus Hirschfeld. It was closed down by the Nazi party in 1933 and all its materials burned for being immoral.

I think banning books is worse censorship than being against far fight fascist rallies, yes.

I'm very surprised you don't....sunlight and all that.

Ensuring children have access to age appropriate material is not 'banning books' (In the same way as restricting the same of alcohol to over 18s is not 'banning alcohol').

Attending a pride rally in fetish gear is not equivalent to simply attending a different flavour of gathering. It's the fetish gear in public that some here take issue with.

More exaggeration / false equivalence.

If these posts were an essay, they'd be 'D - must try harder'.

I'd be concerned with grade inflation by marking that a D. More like scraping through an E for effort but lacking any substance.

Aye,free country and all that.

Despite the best efforts of some.

AlisonDonut · 05/06/2024 21:11

It really does fascinate me how authoritarian and controlling the supposed progressives are. They really just cannot abide anyone having any deviation from their mindset. It is frightening.

SinnerBoy · 05/06/2024 21:14

CassieMaddox · Today 13:04

Plus the irony of bringing up "free speech" when KJK leaflets are being used to shut down free speech in schools and censor reading materials because of "the cult".

Dear oh me, what free speech is being shut down in schools, because of KJK leaflets? The free speech to lie and indoctrinate children into thinking that transw are on top of the victimhood pyramid, to be grovelled to above all others? That TW are women? That children should keep secrets from their parents and talk to outsiders from dodgy organisations?

Another example of the great right left switcheroo.

CassieMaddox · 05/06/2024 21:32

Datun · 05/06/2024 19:13

This is not a "ooh the evil soc fems hate KJK and her friends" issue.

of course it bloody is. Who else would know who Aja was if she wasn't connected to KJK???

It's your only issue, Cassie. You know nothing about anyone else unless they're connected to KJK.

I said earlier I used to follow DJ Lippy on twitter. I'm not in there any more. I know her from then.

I had no clue who Aja was before this. And I only know about this because of the tweets linked upthread.

I hate the far right, I hate the fact they have infiltrated GC feminism as you well know because I've posted about it before. And been told of course GC feminists aren't far right, of course they aren't racists, it's a TRA smear, or me being tribal.

Hmm. Turns out it was gaslighting bollocks from those posters.

And BTW not everything is about fucking KJK. I can think she's unpleasant and also dislike people who go on racist far right rallies.

It really does fascinate me how far right racists think their views are mainstream and that anyone who dislikes them must be far left. They just can't countenance that most people don't think like that.

I have a problem with fascism in public. And racism in public. So yes, it is equivalent to me.

One could argue that bondage gear is "just another flavour of clothing". If one wanted to minimise something most people find repugnant and ethically indefensible.
