Has there ever been an example anywhere in history of a book burning being carried out and it turned out to be the rational, correct thing to do? Mass bonfire of Mein Kampf and other propaganda after WW2 maybe?
Otherwise it seems to me the performative, protesting type of book burning automatically categorises the pyromaniacs as intolerant, ignorant bigots who cannot stand to be challenged, and their instinctive reaction is to destroy rather than engage.
