Are they fucking KIDDING ME??

And demanding trans women are called women is displaying impartiality?

Calling a biological male her and she is being impartial?

What the fuck is happening to this world.

senua · 29/02/2024 19:12

A listener complained that the comment [“trans women, in other words males”] amounted to Webb giving his personal view on a controversial matter in breach of the BBC’s requirements on impartiality.
Meanwhile the rest of the BBC - who parrot TWAW, call a TW "she", etc, etc - are are not showing favour to one side of a controversial matter?
Double standards!

😂
He said male instead of biologically male
😂

You can't make this shit up.
Who was that comedian who swore on TV to raise funds for a charity? I think we are headed in that direction.

TomeTome · 29/02/2024 19:15

Well they’re wrong trans women are of course male, females can’t ever be transwomen (just as men can never be transmen).

AlphariusOmegron · 29/02/2024 19:18

This will never get any better. Doublethink rules. Do not question the party.

Whatthechicken · 29/02/2024 19:36

2+2=5

He was stating a fact, how can a fact be wrong?

Although common sense seems to be returning...after so much hard work by women, we are very much in the danger zone. We still have those in government and the opposition, those in the media, those in the judiciary, and those in the police still not able to accept and report facts. No fact could be simpler, and yet they tell us we are wrong and threaten to criminalise us for stating fact.

Dystopian

I am terrified for my daughter.

IncompleteSenten · 29/02/2024 19:41

I think all this is happening because of all our hard work. Several generations of women forcing change and now it's about getting us back in the kitchen and shutting the fuck up. Getting us back under control. Globally. It's terrifying.

LizzieSiddal · 29/02/2024 19:42

Surely Maya’s judgement should mean he can say exactly what he said!

Whatthechicken · 29/02/2024 19:49

I just keep imagining future conversations with my daughter in a few years.

"Mum, there is a man in the changing room and he keeps showing me his penis"

"No darling, it's a women's changing room, there are no men"

"But he has a penis"

"Sshhh my love, it's a 'female penis'. *whispers - We must never say 'his penis', because they may arrest us for a hate crime".

I imagine this may get deleted, but that will simply prove my point.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/02/2024 19:49

LizzieSiddal · 29/02/2024 19:42

In private...I guess this is deemed similar to a presenter stating something he believes as part of his religion or political affiliation as fact rather than opinion.

But of course, what he said is a fact. 'Male' is a scientific term.

Weirdly, 'beliefs' are protected but asserting facts apparently isn't.

Melroses · 29/02/2024 19:52

BBC parting company with reality.

That must be one helluva complaint to get through the multi-layered BBC Complaints procedures 😱

Twistyripple · 29/02/2024 19:54

Time and time again I'm baffled

PermanentTemporary · 29/02/2024 20:00

I suppose that was the problem with court cases positioning GC views as 'beliefs' - he's not supposed to express his beliefs on the Beeb.

I should imagine he's subject to a relentless barrage of complaints because it's always been obvious what his views are, even though in my view he walks the line very well.

There's no allowance now for the sheer insult and mental stress of having to state lies as facts. We're not supposed to feel anything when someone states that sex is not relevant when discussing sex, or something equally shite.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 29/02/2024 20:06

I suppose the only way to suppress facts, science and accuracy is to use threats and complaints to coerce people out of speaking the truth.
Orwell had the BBC and transactivists in mind when he said:

'The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.'

AttaThat · 29/02/2024 20:07

Oh for fucks sake!

If anything, he was providing clarity. We know that a huge number of people don’t understand whether “trans women” means people who are biologically male or biologically female.

SlumberDearMaid · 29/02/2024 20:09

Doesn’t surprise me.

Clearly transwomen are male.

To this end, I have stopped using the word ‘transwoman’.

I now say ‘transgender male’, so as to remove ‘woman’ entirely, and to ensure ‘male’ is pointedly used.

Will it make any difference? 🤷🏻‍♀️ It makes me feel marginally better….

WhiteVelvet · 29/02/2024 20:09

Hi there... new to the MN feminism section but not new to the debate/fight for our rights.

I stepped out of it all for a bit because I realised my letter writing, funding numerous court cases etc wasn’t making a dent.

I’ve been waiting for the moment that galvanises the movement towards a different tack (need to be careful with words here).

Are we there yet? Is the BBC/Scarlet Blake the tipping point?

NecessaryScene · 29/02/2024 20:10

On a positive note, this opens the doors to a floodgates of complaints - calling transwomen "women" is also giving "the impression of endorsing one viewpoint in a highly controversial area".

So they now have to uphold complaints about calling transwomen "women" or "female", or their inconsistency will also give "the impression of endorsing one viewpoint in a highly controversial area".

flyingbuttress43 · 29/02/2024 20:11

Friends are surprised when I say I know longer trust the BBC. This one of the reasons why. The BBC lies with inpunity, same as the judiciary who demand a victim calls her rapist 'she' in court, same as the police who are happy to log the transgender cat killing murderer as a woman and, of course, same as any politician who parrots the delusion that transwomen are women.

Over the past 8 years I have turned from a broadly sympathetic person who thought that the few (ha ha) men who struggled with their sex were to be treated kindly to a hard-line hold-the-line person who refuses under any circumstances to submit to compelled speech out of politeness or to give an inch to the be kind brigade. This is a zero sum game now as far as I'm concerned.

That's a really good point. And given their obsession with all things trans, drag etc this fuckwittery that knowing what a man is is a biased view, opens them up to countless challenges.

Same. Although I haven’t had skin in the game for as long. Woke up in 2020.

I’ve reached the realisation that if the BBC are lying to me/the world about biological sex then they’ve probably been lying about a lot of other things since who knows when.

I no longer trust them. On anything.
