I am stunned how she isn't just screeching back at this point "so what you are saying is why did i keep asking how to tell traumatised women that they aren't 100% guaranteed to be supported by an actual woman? is that what you are saying?"

RA has admirable restraint

NecessaryScene · 18/01/2024 15:01

I must say I'm a bit perplexed about an organisation that is incredibly worried about GPDR breaches, yet apparently has people using a shared e-mail account and relies on those people deleting sensitive stuff from the "sent" folder so the wrong people don't see it!?

What's the data-protection-safe procedure for sending replies back!?!?!

Did I miss an explanation of this?

nauticant · 18/01/2024 15:02

Also, I wonder whether an ET is a place that can properly explore these much deeper issues.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/01/2024 15:03

Yes I was going to say they don't seem too hot on data protection practices as an organisation.

Boiledbeetle · 18/01/2024 15:05

Oh thank God he's apparently nearly finished!

There's an incredible sadness to the fact that a woman was turned away from a rape crisis centre in a time of need. No matter what way its spun it can never be justified.

Yes and it's in no small measure directly because of Mridul Wadhwa and their desire to impose their beliefs and will on the running of the centre. Wadhwa is an utterly contemptible specimen.

Sisterpita · 18/01/2024 15:06

There is a point where as an employee you have raised an issue a number of times and the management line remains the same; you have to decide can I live with the management line or do I need to find another job.

NecessaryScene · 18/01/2024 15:08

Wadhwa is an utterly contemptible specimen.

Which is basically self-selection. It's possible a male could do a good job of running a female rape crisis centre, but all the decent ones wouldn't dream of taking such a position.

So any male ending up in such a position will, inevitably, have to be a complete shit.

Boiledbeetle · 18/01/2024 15:11

It's safe to say I'm going to have to go and read Tribunal Tweets this evening I keep finding my mind has drifted off from his waffling.

SinnerBoy · 18/01/2024 15:11

NecessaryScene

Yes, I agree entirely.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/01/2024 15:12

What Necessary said.

Question how many of you at work introduce yourself to a client as Hi I’m Sisterpita and I’m female and this is Jane Smith who is male?

We do not declare our or other peoples sex as a matter of routine. In a work situation you will be contractually required to not disclose personal data.

RA was asking a good question she was not outing RA to the client.

I frequently say to both internal and external work people "this is my colleague, James. He will be supporting the project with X, Y and Z."

Have I just outed his sensitive personal information that he is male/a man?

Froodwithatowel · 18/01/2024 15:13

I'd imagine walking away from a job you disagree with the management may perhaps be a little harder when you know that you are leaving vulnerable service users to said management. And you've been in a line of work where you care about and are committed to the women said management are failing and in fact quite arguably adding to the problems of. And perhaps have passion for the job you do and a focus on the needs of those women as opposed to academic theory or political lobby agendas.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 18/01/2024 15:16

The fact that there is a file of "hate" is staggering in itself.

I'd love to see what is in there. I'm willing to bet a tunnocks teacake that nothing in it meets what Id see as hateful.

Boiledbeetle · 18/01/2024 15:17

He's finished, thank fuck for that

I'll raise you half a lemon drizzle that most of it mentioned sex as a reality.

The point is if you decide to stay, which many of us do, you have to understand when you are crossing a line by continually raising the same question and know at that point in time keeping your own counsel is the pragmatic option.

Froodwithatowel · 18/01/2024 15:20

I think I'd feel responsible for the service users in my care and those still yet to use the service to keep resisting the management issues I was concerned about.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/01/2024 15:21

As pp said, I think some of the issues here, both legally and ethically, are much bigger than this case.

From the TT it appears RA didn’t want to drop her point about ERCCs position on there being no men. I admire her, but there is a point where you are being told repeatedly it is a management instruction to know pausing for a while may be the pragmatic option.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/01/2024 15:32

Yes and everyone is going to draw a different line as to where that is.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 18/01/2024 15:37

"quite a lot of people observing this case"

Yip.

And there's a whole MN thread, mate. We told you, women are watching.

Karensalright · 18/01/2024 15:40

I don’t think RA was questioning that she was expected to lie she was questioning how said lie would be framed to survivors and what impact said lie would have.

Brefugee · 18/01/2024 15:40

from the tribual tweets, I'm not sure who NJ is?

NJ: Event was called 'Inclusion is beautiful but including is ugly" with MW, organised by a university network. MW talking about his work, his journey coming to work at ERCC and making it more inclusive. About his life really.

NOTE: correctly sexing MW there (or is it a different MW?)

Sisterpita · 18/01/2024 15:40

Short and sweet but I think DH may try to discredit in closing arguments.
