Claiming constructive dismissal for GC beliefs.

What's the betting that witness after witness, will give the defence that they didn't want to upset trans/non-binary people. Just like it was in the open university tribunal.

'We have to discriminate, otherwise someone will cry.'

LipbalmOrKnickers · 17/01/2024 14:52

She's clearly a very thoughtful and empathetic woman who has put so much work into her practice, and for prioritising the care of women who needed the service of ERCC she was punished in such a cruel way.

Mmmnotsure · 17/01/2024 14:52

RA: In the revised letter they had changed gross misconduct to misconduct and changed possible penalty to warning or written warning. But that hadn't been pointed up and I hadn't realised they had made these changes. I had spent weeks by then thinking I could lose my job.

At the meeting I raised this change and was told it was an administrative error. A panel member said sorry and they moved on. An administrative error - I think I said at the time are you joking, that something so vital to me was referred to so lightly.

Datun · 17/01/2024 14:53

Letter said had been escalated to gross misconduct and went on to say I could be dismissed without notice and pay. Potentially my career over and my reputation over.

For asking a question and trying to help a traumatised woman access the service provided for her.

Nothing more than slavish devotion to this ideology is acceptable.

HarpQuartet · 17/01/2024 14:53

Gross misconduct was down graded to misconduct, blamed on an admin error, with what sounds like the merest effort of apology

Mmmnotsure · 17/01/2024 14:54

NC: At ERCC what equalities training did you have?

RA: The only eq training was on trans. Three sessions I think. Later on we had some training about supporting an individual who had a guide dog.

Signalbox · 17/01/2024 14:56

The allegation of gross misconduct was an “admin error”. What a bunch of lying bastards

LipbalmOrKnickers · 17/01/2024 14:56

Talking about AB round-robin emailing to offer a space for people needing to rage about JK setting up Beira's Place.

IamSarah · 17/01/2024 14:56

Wait what?! They were raging about Beira's place.

Christ. I can see why so many women in the sector are reluctant to blow the whistle.

HarpQuartet · 17/01/2024 14:58

The news that Beira's place had opened was a "festive stinker".

Mmmnotsure · 17/01/2024 14:59

BC reads message from AB to others -

AB writes about this: really terrible news that has landed about JKR's new centre. Shall we have a call together to rage about this and feelings that have come up. Good luck to you all in the face of this total festive stinker.

RA: When people can write like this there is no space for dissent.

GCITC · 17/01/2024 14:59

Anyone who needs to rage about new women's services being opened should not be working anywhere near women's services.

Proof that victims and survivors are not the primary concern.

Talking about AB round-robin emailing to offer a space for people needing to rage about JK setting up Beira's Place.

WTAF!

HarpQuartet · 17/01/2024 15:00

Yes "rage" was the word used. There was an invitation for anyone who wanted to join the sender of the message in raging about Beira's Place.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 17/01/2024 15:01

They tried to put Beira's Place into a struggle session on the rape crisis slack?

Is this real?

Rightsraptor · 17/01/2024 15:01

And anybody who they noticed hadn't raged about Beira's Place would no doubt get a 'we note you haven't done this yet ...' message until they joined in.

This group think and manipulation is terrifying.

HarpQuartet · 17/01/2024 15:01

The contrast between how carefully and kindly/sensitively RA wrote to colleagues, and how others in the organisation wrote, is very marked.

IcakethereforeIam · 17/01/2024 15:02

You'd think they'd be delighted there was more help available. Except giving noncompliant women somewhere else meant the heretics weren't being punished. And women who'd had to endure now had another option.

Mmmnotsure · 17/01/2024 15:02

RA: [trying to remember] There was a reponse from Mridhul agreeing it was a terrible thing that Beira's place was open and that it was an eg of a old-fashioned white feminism, that JKR was a beneficiary of capitalism and we wouldn't be passing on info c BP to survivors cos it was unregulated and therefore ERCC couldn't be sure of the service provided.

Datun · 17/01/2024 15:04

It fills me with relief and hope that someone like Rowling is involved in this.

I bet she knew what she was getting into and she set up Beira's place. And she did it anyway.

It may even have been part of her thinking.

Thank fuck really.

Mmmnotsure · 17/01/2024 15:11

RA: She [??who] rewrote my grievance into different headings and different wording. It didn't reflect everything I had put into my original grievance.

NC: Your grievance was rejected. You appealed.

RA: The grievance decision reflected what she had regrouped my grievance under. It was very different from where my grievance had started, to how it had been reframed, and therefore difficult to follow through the logic to not upholding it.

RA: My sick pay was running out. Long delays, not of my making. The way they held some aspects while waiting for other things to be finished meant I was running out of money.

IamSarah · 17/01/2024 15:12

Imagine raging about a specialist centre opening to help trans people.

Mmmnotsure · 17/01/2024 15:14

RA c the very long delays by ERCC while she ran out of money.
:I don't think that and the stress caused should be part of the process.

HagoftheNorth · 17/01/2024 15:16

I haven’t been following this, but Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre thinks it’s terrible that there is more capacity to support women, which will also result in more capacity to support transwomen? So they are prepared to actually say OUT LOUD that it’s more important that men should have access to unconsenting women than to provide support for rape victims who need it?

Wow, they really are out in the open now aren’t they!

Mmmnotsure · 17/01/2024 15:19

RA: Appeal decision upheld some aspects - re length of time taken, and that the language referred to in the original grievance is not helpful or warranted, particularly use of transphobic. No evidence that anything transphobic occurred.

In earlier interview MW said she believed my actions were motivated by transphobia.

Appeal didn't uphold that there was bias in the process.
