New sports club at DC’s high school only open to LGBTQ+ pupils and their allies

Are they legally allowed to exclude GC pupils? Or pupils who are not one of the special alphabet children?

This is a really great club - nothing like the school has offered before. Seems a shame to limit attendance based on sexuality/gender ideology rather than interest/ability.

We’re in Scotland if that makes a difference.

I honestly think if you genuinely cared about your son joining this mysterious ‘activity’ you’d actually go and speak to the school, instead of just posting on this little echo chamber here.
At least ask them if they’d consider running another session of the ‘ activity ‘ on another day for kids who don’t identify as LGBTQ.
So that your son can take part without having to be associated in anyway with gay kids. Up to you if you tell them he has such strong GC beliefs that he can’t even try the club, you could ask and they might well assume he doesn’t want to encroach on a club primarily aimed at children who might feel the need for some space away from everyone else.

I hope to god your son isn’t any of the LGBTQ for his sake.

How many times do you need to be told that this club isn't for gay kids?

EmpressaurusOfCats · 19/09/2023 11:19

I think we could fill the thread with that message and it still wouldn’t get through.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 19/09/2023 15:50

Absolutely empressaurus

that particular poster only sticks to their level of ignoring anyone pointing out that the club isn’t just for LGB children its for straight children as well

and obviously attacking a child….. constantly, says all we need to know really

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 19/09/2023 15:58

SirChenjins · 19/09/2023 10:53

And not only that, but directing some really offensive insults and accusations at a child who doesn't subscribe to a particular ideology. Is that generally how teaching staff behave in that poster's school, I wonder?

Edited

I hope to god that it's a untruth. She shouldn't be in a position of authority over any child.

Perhapsperhapsto · 20/09/2023 09:31

@SirChenjins taken your concerns to the school yet?

SirChenjins · 20/09/2023 15:32

And you’re back…still asking the same old question that’s been answered and still refusing to answer the many put to you. It’s like your needle has got stuck somewhere at the beginning of track one.

Are you really a teacher?

You haven't answered the question @Perhapsperhapsto asked you though about whether you've raised it with the school or not ( the see all OP is a great function) so why pretend you have?

Froodwithatowel · 21/09/2023 09:12

Because why engage in good faith with someone who can't be bothered to listen to anything said, and is mostly here to try and make people shut up about matters they'd prefer were left under carpets to rot quietly.

SuperNewMe · 21/09/2023 09:15

Well at least you're admitting OP isn't acting in good faith, that's something I suppose.

SirChenjins · 21/09/2023 09:16

The see all OP is only a great function if you actually read them all.

Oh lord are we really disappearing into playground level stuff now? Or was my post that unclear? Reading comprehension really seems to be a major issue.

SuperNewMe · 21/09/2023 09:26

I did.
You have not said whether you went to the school or not.

SirChenjins · 21/09/2023 09:29

Read them again and you’ll find my response to that poster.

‘Are you really a teacher? ‘

When did I say I was a teacher? Pretty sure I didn’t.

SuperNewMe · 21/09/2023 09:54

What part of that have I misunderstood?
It clearly says why engage in good faith so not sure where you get off with the comprehension issues comment?

I’ve also missed the school
response to OPs complaint, and the part where she names this activity that can’t be done anywhere else.

SuperNewMe · 21/09/2023 10:17

The OP said they're not going to share what the school says if they go to the school (if)
(Which I suppose is up to them)
They have not said whether they've been to the school or not though.
Heavily implies they haven't though and have just come to MN instead for a moan with that word if reappearing a bit in their posts

Perhapsperhapsto · 21/09/2023 10:11

I’ve also missed the school
response to OPs complaint, and the part where she names this activity that can’t be done anywhere else.

What difference does it make what activity it is? skating, synchronised diving, snooker, which sport is it okay to only offer to kids with a particular political belief? And can you really not see that naming it is quite outing, or do you think they're are lots of schools restricting niche sports for LGBTQ+ and allies only?

As you are so keen for posters to answer questions put to them, are you going to address the fact that multiple posters have asked you why you keep insinuating that OPs son is homophobic and saying this is a club for gay kids, when it isn't?

SirChenjins · 21/09/2023 10:22

That’s right - you’ve read the correct bit. Nothing has changed.

So @Perhapsperhapsto what do you do that brings you into contact with all these parents?

OP posts:
SuperNewMe · 21/09/2023 11:16

That’s right - you’ve read the correct bit. Nothing has changed.
So why say you've answered whether you've been to the school or not when you clearly havent answered at all?

SirChenjins · 21/09/2023 11:44

Reading comprehension really isn’t your strong point is it.

OP posts:
IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 21/09/2023 11:56

I don't see why there is an issue here. I am a GC bisexual. There are a lot of GC LGB people. The club doesn't specify which group of LGBTQ+ people you have to be an ally of. He can attend the club as an ally of GC LGB people. Job done.

LGBTQ isn't a monolith. It's fairly meaningless really. I wouldn't interpret someone attending that club as someone fully signing up to gender ideology.

SuperNewMe · 21/09/2023 11:57

I've read what you put just fine, you're not going to get anywhere trying to gaslight me.

Excellent, I’m glad the penny has finally dropped.
