Alice Cooper has said what loads of people think but are too scared to say, and the cosmetics firm who produce his make up products have dropped him.

I’ve just been banned from an unofficial fan forum for a certain very big heavy metal band for daring say I agreed with Alice, that we needed to be careful in shutting down freedom of speech, that we can have both sympathy for those suffering body dysmorphia and be wary about the erosion of women’s rights. Quite balanced - immediate ban. Even fucking heavy metal is now overrun by censors who can’t accept people thinking differently to them. Would love to see what the men)and it is nearly all men are saying about me.

Fairly ironic as the band’s latest album included the lines

“You dance on the graves who bled for us
Do you really think they'll come for us
Knowledge and virtue taken by lust
Live on the edge of those that you trust

You think that you have all the answers for all
In your arrogant way only one way to fall
Burning a lamp that is fire in your hands
Taking you further from these lands”

The fans running the unofficial forum clearly aren’t agreeing with the lyrics of their favourite band!

Really sorry to hear this happened to you Maatandosiris. I've just had a friend share a story from the Metal Injection website mocking Alice as an anti-trans old duffer who doesn't get it and is making things up to be angry about. As far as I can see, he's got much more of a handle on things than the 'reporter' who dismissed it all as an "old man yells at cloud" problem.

Alice is spot on. It's scary the metal scene has gone the same way as everywhere else. It really doesn't make any sense.

When I compare the metal scene now to the 80s there’s such a difference. I’m not sure it’s obvious on the surface but do a bit of digging and it’s there.

its always been a place for those who were outcasts, spot someone in your favourite bands shirt and instant friend. It was somewhere generally full of roll playing, critically thinking, often shy geeks who loved horror movies, Lovecraft and Poe often with an interest in occultism. Lyrics were generally alternative mythologies, social/political commentary or generally thought provoking (often leading you down rabbit holes in the library). This I loved and led me to lots of reading, some lovely people as well as great music.

I think the woke army have been very clever in their tactics (see the Denton report which sets out their MO very well for all to see- prob why it’s quite hidden). It reflects any other example of radicalisation.

1. identify people who feel outsiders (metal fans)
2. give a sense of (false) superiority over the people they feel ostracised by. This used to be “posers” now it’s the older traditional generation. In short you’re right, they’re wrong
3. Rally the troops to understand a world view to make them feel part of something - community. This community is now Wokism where it used to be music (I think the internet has damaged the music element eg (with the possible exception of Ghost) the newer bands’fans aren’t as brought into a particular band- Did anyone like megadeth and Metallica equally? There’s no rushing out to buy kerrang devouring every word, knowing the journlists as much as the bands). Now words are cheap.
4. Make it clear, by constantly making examples of “deviants” that they will be evicted from their new “superior” group if they deviate from the mantra, thereby encouraging mob mentality.

I think as a linked endeavour there also seems to have been a similar infiltration of certain sections of the occult community (Thelema and atheistic satanism I’m looking at you) where there are many overlaps with the metal community. Trans rights caused quite a large spilt within Thelma a while ago. - whole other thread.

Its a tactic as old as time. I’ve particularly noticed radicalisation of young men in the community who are struggling to maintain any romantic relationships. Women are generally as bad ass as ever.

The mentalness of the philosophy is matched and exceeded, by watching it, as an outsider, achieve social hegemony.

So, if like me, you irreversibly pulled away from Christianity as a teen, never to contemplate following a new movement or join a new cult, find your place in a world of multiple choices and freedom to speak out against vested interests, and then view with growing horror as a new cult and "recieved wisdom" gains traction and then social saturation, especially in counter cultural movements like Metal, the concept, execution and capture complete, is like an out of body experience.

Metal...one of the artforms really proud to provide voices for many strands of thought, contrary to the groupthink of organised religion in late 60s society that it broke away from, now imposing the new stultifying groupthink.

Of course the trans and trans allies feel they're in the grand tradition of Metal's counter cultural kinship, and the naysayers like GCs are the new moralists, no different from the moralists in the 60s who said no to homosexuality, no to extramarital sex, no to anything not Christian.

Indeed, this is a big reason why so many atheists have taken to trans ideology, and why it actually is totally predictable the arts incl Metal has fallen to TRA.

The New Atheists and counter culturalists weren't really anti Christian, per se. They were anti moralist. It just so happened that the prevailing moralism until the dissolving of the churches influence was Christianity.

So, not so much anti Christian as anti Christian edicts. As Christianity fell from view, we had a couple of decades where a more egalitarian sharing of views was possible with no dominating strain. Let's call that the period of cultural diversity and free discourse of ideas and opinions.

But now a new set of post modern ideas have evolved, and because GCs oppose them, we're now conflated with Bible bashers as intolerant, inflexible, imposing one size fits all morals.

Ironic really, as the new accepted ideas demonstrate a moral force all their own.

It is appalling. Lets separate out the mods on forums from the wider scene though. We already know that mods are disproportionally likely to swallow TRA line. The fact they are kept so busy shows how weak their arguments are. I bet some other heretics got booted at the same time.

The average metal person is no more likely to be fully convinced by gender stuff than anyone else. In fact older ones I suspect are particularly sceptical because they know gender is made up because they have a long history of breaking gender rules.

Alice isn't cancelled... at all... his concerts are selling out his album is no 1 in metal charts.

Obviously commentators will try to target him... but it isn't going to work. The bigger question is will he return to topic again or avoid it?

I think he will address it, but not through interviews but through music.

I think Alice's next set of songs will be interesting to look at. Evil surgeon targeting kids song perhaps.

Being a mod of a group myself I’ve found the politics round this extremely interesting. I’ve lost count of the times someone has befriended a mod, who then suggests that it would be useful to get this person in as a mod. Then follows a slow build up to where that person tries to shape the group. It does make me think about the way mod groups are shaped, who is infiltrating them and why.

I found the way they tried to frame my eviction interesting placing them as reasonable, me as evil, it was like something out of a 16/17th century heresy trial.

There were 3comments of yay, thank god for the saviour mod group protecting right think. Everyone else was silenced afraid of being treated the same way.

Alice has always championed women, Nita being a member of his band, is a massive statement to me.

Let’s think why Alice might be an affront to to trans ideologists. He’s intelligent, he supports women as equals, he can defy gender norms without assuming he’s the opposite sex. Something GI struggle with.

oh I’m so hoping his next album addresses this point. I’m buying it and buying tickets.

I have. 12" limited edition picture disc of Alice's Feed My Frankenstein. With the line of "let me drink the wine from your fur tea cup" The days of the bush being acceptable and porn being something confined to the top shelf in the newsagents or dvds bought down dark alleyways. I got it from a friend for my 16th in 1992. Ahhh, those were great days on the music scene. That album was the theme tune to the summer of '92🥰

Yep - misogyny is rife in metal media these days it appears. Just called out some creep for posting a picture of a female metal musician in her bikini saying “mmmmm nice”. I pointed out that no one ever makes similar comments about men- it was all about their musical talent. Male admin piled in about my negativity about the group I’m supposed to represent and banned me. Obviously a group not about women in metal and how they’re great musicians, just a group for lonely men/boys to wank over women!
