Tunnocks Thread 2

Boiledbeetle · 16/08/2023 16:13

The question asked in Thread 1 has still not been answered satisfactorily, and so the quest continues to discover which side of the fence Tunnocks are on or whether they are in fact sat atop the fence throwing Snowballls and Tea cakes at both sides.

I have no idea where the link below will send you. hopefully to the original thread and at the start, but it could be a completely different thread half way through. I'm too full of sugar to concentrate properly!

There's a thread in chat about how Tunnocks don't taste the same. They e either changed the recipe or there's a faulty batch perhaps.

Found it. It was started in May and about the caramel wafers. Consensus was that they have changed for the worse. I haven’t noticed other than one a few weeks ago that was soft. I will finish the ones we have this evening to check them. It was my teacakes that seem wrong, but I tested all the box so can’t continue testing those.

@Boiledbeetle please do complain about the consultant, there is no excuse for his behaviour. But I get it’s sometimes one thing too many to deal with.

My current lot of tea cakes are really odd. I'm only half way through but the five I've eaten so far have been really gritty in the biscuit base and the chocolate tastes wrong. It's not stopped me eating them mind!

I've just checked an old box against a new box and the ingredients whilst changing layout on the box are still reading as the same ingredients in the same order and%s

But the wafers aren't tasting right either.

I'm wondering if whilst using the same ingredients they've changed supplier of one of the ingredients.

That or my taste buds are wonky.

I will phone about leg man at some point this week! I promise! The more i think about the whole appointment the more my brain goes you know that wasn't right!

And I have just discovered a poem that I've got as written in 2024!!

You're doing a grand job BB!

I'll work the extra page cost into my Christmas budget🎄 I might have to forgo caramel wafers to raise the funds. How much do you think the books will be? Just do I know how many caramel wafers I'll be missing 😁

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 23/10/2023 20:25

Gritty is the problem with mine too. Hopefully a bad batch we both got.
I can’t wait for volume 2, I’ll get the Tunnocks in ready ( several times over as I will keep eating them)

Reward yourself with hopefully non-gritty teacakes when you’ve done it. I hope the next scan gives you answers to your pain.

Boiledbeetle · 23/10/2023 21:25

Costs....

So if I'd done it in two books of 80 poems like the first book then I'd have had to sell each book for £8 (printing costs have increased since the first book came out) to get £2.50 profit on each. But it's one book so to get £5 profit for For Women Scotland the lowest I can sell it at is £13.50.

So technically you could look at it as a bargain as it's better than £16!

It's less than 8 and a half pence a poem!

Gritty tea cakes had better be a bad batch and not the new normal!

And shit I keep forgetting about the next scan, It's because it's on next month's calendar page!

My calendar has an events view that only shows the days when something is happening. It only shows about 6 weeks atm but sometimes reaches out to 2 months.

Boiledbeetle

Regarding proof reading, the more you do it, the better you'll get, like most things.

Good luck having Dr. Creepy Baldy-Legs dealt with.

CervixSampler · 23/10/2023 22:14

I've now updated my Christmas gift manager app to the correct. My mum will not understand a lot of what's in the book but I feel she should have her own copy seeing as her daughter and granddaughter are to be "published political poets" and she can maybe have a little boast at Pilates about it. She probably won't but nevermind. It's a shame she's no longer in touch with her elevenerife friend because I'm pretty sure this is the one thing her daughter or granddaughter won't have done. My siblings will turn their noses up. The wankerchief won't know whether to be outraged and call social services or be privately proud that he's had poems written about him. It would both feed into his narcissism yet be a savage attack on the nice guy he thinks he is. How delicious is that!

TLDR: I can't wait!

My calendar is on the wall in the kitchen! It's lucky if the page gets turned to the correct month before halfway through the actual month I'm in!

And Sinner you may be right! But i don't want to have to get good at it!!!

I found about 40 errors last night. Tonight 8!!! I'm hoping that's because there isn't anymore to find!!

A lot of them have been Word changing things to what it thought i wanted!!

I've just realised at some point someone on here is going to be sitting in a hospital appointment and when the consultant starts showing you his smooth legs you'll go "so this is where Boiled lives!"

I have sorted the what the fuck is this poem about issue this time! That's what's taken so bloody long. Some of the explanations have been longer than the poem! But it does mean in 100 years time some poor university student doesn't have to spend months deciphering the meaning of some random poem!

And your ex is going to hate you!! Your epic he's an Arsehole poem is on four pages!!

Sorry Boiled. I'm used to the computer based calendar that tells me about the 27 things that I need to do today and reminds me about the 305 things that I didn't do in the past. We have a paper calendar in the kitchen. Dh's cousin sent it as a Christmas present. Every month has a fresh picture of her rugrats. The current one shows them being amazed that leaves fall off trees in the Autumn. Each day has about 2.5 cm squared to write information in. Fucking annoying and useless piece of kit. Use the calendar on your PC or phone.

I am envious. I miss our borrowed cats a great deal. Enjoy being imprisoned by fluff.

I've just opened a new packet if car wafers and they are definitely not as good so I've emailed Tunnocks to see what they say. Hopefully it's a temporary issue.

I'm drooling. Enjoy your reward for your hard work!

JanesLittleGirl · 24/10/2023 16:55

Well done, that is wonderful news. Will you be having mushrooms and fried onions with the steak?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 24/10/2023 16:56

Well done, @Boiledbeetle - you deserve a Tunnock’s product or two, with a nice cup of tea, to get up your strength for all that steak and chipses.

I have had a couple of Caramel wafers - it is 40 years ago today that I started my nurse training, at Manchester Royal Infirmary. I didn’t stay in nursing - I left after 6 years and went to university, then went back to it when I was first married, but when I had ds3, I stopped because my take home pay would have equalled my childcare costs, with barely enough left over for a packet of Tunnock’s teacakes, but some of my set are still nursing.

They are having a reunion soon but I’m not going this time - long covid and weight related mobility issues make the travelling too much - but I will be raising a glass or several to them all.

Boiledbeetle · 24/10/2023 17:55

No Tunnocks for me tonight, I've just had a gu thing, good knows which one they all look and Taste the same!

It was just steak and chips, if someone else had been cooking it i could have happily had mushrooms and fried onions with it though!

Can you do one of those calls where you can see people , (sorry I've lost my words) with one of them whilst they are there @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius so that you can save hello to everyone? They could prop you up on a glass!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 24/10/2023 20:09

That’s a good idea, @Boiledbeetle - I’m in the WhatsApp group so I can call them.

I do like a Gu thing too - dh has to be ruthless with the empties, so we don’t end up with a cupboard full of empty ramekins.

CervixSampler · 24/10/2023 20:19

That steak gif has just put me off my wotsits sandwiches 🤢 Wankerchief used to order it purposely when I had terrible pregnancy sickness knowing that I'd spend the meal vomiting despite trying my best not to look at his plate or him and close off my nostrils. He thought I was exaggerating and doing it to control him 🙄 lovely chap! Hope you enjoy it BoiledBeetle, you have worked so hard and I know it will all be worthwhile.

I had an email back from Tunnocks today and they are sending me goodies in the post by way of an apology! Dd says she thought they did t taste as good either and agrees the teacakes are a little gritty. She had two just to make sure.

I was a nurse too @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius. I qualified in September 2004 seems so long ago now. I'm not sure I'll ever go back. Chronic illness and nursing didn't mix nor did autism and I found the wards too much due to the people I worked with. Some were amazing but generally very cliquey and backstabbing. I loved general practice and do miss that. I'd have to do a return to nursing course and at the moment I haven't the energy plus wankerchief is liable to be someone I bump into regularly.

I am off to Legoland tomorrow with Dd and ds. I am very excited! I love lego and find it very therapeutic. In fact I think I should build some suffragette coloured Lego. I'm not very creative though. Ds will create something for me if I ask and tell him to do it in suffragette colours. He's a great ally. He's 8. We had the libdems at the door last week and he joined in our hearty discussion with the scared man on the doorstep. Ds was quick to point out his long flowing locks didn't make him a girl. I'm very proud of them both.

The caramel wafers are packed and I shall make them visible in the pocket of a rucksack so any passing terfs can smile knowingly.

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 24/10/2023 20:43

I just popped in to say I have selflessly tested another box of teacakes today and they are back to usual standards. They have the same bb date but different batch number as my gritty ones. I’m tempted to complain though now I know they send freebies.

Congratulations boiled, you have worked bloody hard for us all on the next book in the series. Thank you for doing it and enjoy your evening.

Cervix, your wankerchief reminds me of my twatman ( aka the sperm doner by dd) Your poem made me cry. Escape has been amazing.

CervixSampler · 24/10/2023 22:45

I'm sorry it made you cry 💐
