Sarah Jane Baker, on the Trans Pride stage, saying

“If you see a TERF, punch them in the fucking face!”

NB to MNHQ the video shows this being said. It is not just an allegation being shared.

Fully agree, @fromorbit .

SunnyEgg · 13/07/2023 14:37

Well good luck I hope he can hear it.

They won’t get my vote but if people want to do the hassle for change route then hopefully it’ll register

YouJustDoYou · 13/07/2023 14:41

I'm just glad the police have arrested him for saying that. Led away in handcuffs, but will probably be let off, of course.

The one thing that “peaked” me most - and also my sister, who I lent it to - was Hannah Barnes’ book Time to Think. I hope all MPs have read it, it couldn’t be more devastating about the transitioning of children.

I was in a bookshop recently and was delighted to see that this was in a prominent, eye-height position, cover (not spine) facing outwards. Difficult to miss.

This is great news 👍

Froodwithatowel · 13/07/2023 14:50

Having seen him removed in handcuffs, shouting 'trans rights are human rights' to the camera....

No mate. No one has and no sane person would want the right to batter women for displeasing them.

FrancescaContini · 13/07/2023 14:59

I’ve never worked out what human rights T people think they don’t have. Or could it just be an empty slogan deliberately designed to make people think that T people DON’T have human rights? Hmmmmmm

Froodwithatowel · 13/07/2023 15:04

I don't think he knows. It's just what you say to justify anger and violence to yourself and get the cheers from your audience.

The actual human right involved is not to be battered by others. Or controlled and exposed to violence by a political movement. There is no human or civil right to bash others until they do what you tell them.

CorruptedCauldron · 13/07/2023 15:05

This individual has all the rights in the world! Coming out of prison after two attempted murders, and instead of his life being a write-off, he’s got MPs and gender ideologists fawning over him… I’d say he’s got it pretty good. The only right he doesn’t have is the right to incite violence against women.

fromorbit · 13/07/2023 16:10

Daily Mail has published a long article on the arrest:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12294651/Trans-activist-told-crowd-punch-TERFs-face-arrested-incitement-violence.html

While Baker wants to be a martyr I think they are too divisive a figure to get much support from trans quarters. I suspect Baker will be memory holed asp. Not many people trying to attack the arrest on twitter I can see. Those that are are claiming it is a political stitch up. It is of course possible the Home Sec had a word, however the big public outcry probably paid a bigger role the Met are desperate to get better PR right now with women's trust in them at an all time low.

Violence against women is something the Met want to be seen to stand against. Pulling in Baker is an easy win for them all the evidence is there. Where it goes from here is up to Probation service I think.

Trans activist who told crowd to 'punch TERFs in the face' is arrested

Sarah Jane Baker, whose spent 30 years in jail, provoked outrage over her inflammatory comments on Saturday against feminists who are critical of trans ideology.

Ramblingnamechanger · 13/07/2023 16:29

But so many cheered him on at the time…yes this guy really wants to be a martyr for the cause, but there were many who appeared to agree with him.

TheGreatATuin · 13/07/2023 16:39

Yes, as others have said, the bigger problem isn't that a violent criminal has said something threatening. Its that they were platformed knowing their history. Its that the threats got big cheers.
It's that the people in charge of the march put the video on social media, not seeing anything wrong with it. It's that politicians have ignored it because they don't want a backlash from the people cheering it on.
Violence against women has become so normalised and accepted in the trans community that the majority cheer it on and defend it automatically.

ArabeIIaScott · 13/07/2023 16:44

'A London Trans Pride spokesman said: 'Sarah and many others in our community hold a lot of rage and anger and they have the right to express that anger through their words.
'We do not condone violence, we do not back a call to arms for violence of any kind. We do condone righteous anger and the right to the free speech that was expressed yesterday. We have and will continue to march in peace.''

Classing a violent threat as 'righteous anger' is not acceptable.

Froodwithatowel · 13/07/2023 16:47

We do not condone violence and we do condone violence. We support the righteous battering of women who say no to men.

Batshit. Not one screw fully tightened.

On a slight tangent… I was doing some research into website accessibility and found a charity (?). Oh good I thought. I was looking for information for visible impairments.

So what’s the first thing I see - some pronouned person writing about how people with disabilities are disadvantaged - then a whole tirade about poor ‘hated trans’ people, and how sites must accommodate them.

wtaf? Won’t be contacting them for an audit or advice.

How does gender reassignment affect someone's ability to use a website? Do they think you use the mouse with your genitals or something?

Exactly. How DARE women aka females not want random penis in their previous safe spaces! Bigotry! Misandry!

What exactly is “righteous anger”? Surely it’s very subjective? How could it be defined, legally?

It reminds me of a religious extremist using it as an excuse to gun people down or hurt them

Or a passage from the Old Testament. It's certainly not designed to diffuse things anyway.

This. ^^

Holy anger. Justified. Basically: infidels are not human and it is not only acceptable to harm them in ways you usually wouldn't do, but it is actively worthy.

Kristallnacht and yellow stars to follow, presumably.

SunnyEgg · 13/07/2023 19:15

It’s incredible isn’t it when you think things are warped enough a new set of words crops up reminding us how little women count

I won’t accept it for me or dd, or other women and girls

Froodwithatowel · 13/07/2023 19:16

Pogrom. That was the word I was trying to think of. A mob attack, condoned or approved of by authorities, against the persons and property of a religious, cultural or national group.

MavisMcMinty · 13/07/2023 12:28

The immediate and urgent need is to get the Tories out. The UK cannot withstand another Tory government, as it is they’ve damaged us almost irrevocably, and why would anyone vote for the party that made the mess to fix the mess?

No. The immediate and urgent need is to secure women's rights. Labour have lied to, threatened and insulted us - from its leader to its MPs to its activists.

Plus Labour aren't going to do anything differently from the Tories as they've told us so many times. Worse in fact for people on benefits and with disabilities. The UK won't be any better with them either.

Just reminded me of SLJ in Pulp Fiction! But of course he was a murderer too...
