Sarah Jane Baker, on the Trans Pride stage, saying

“If you see a TERF, punch them in the fucking face!”

to a cheering crowd :)

NB to MNHQ the video shows this being said. It is not just an allegation being shared.

Everytime something like this happens and politicians become involved in some way, I think surely this is the part where they say to themselves 'what the fuck am I doing?'. When the SNP Spokesperson for Women and Equalities was caught smirking under a photo which said 'decapitate terfs', I thought surely they're going to have a wee think about how promoting violence against women isn't a sign of being 'the good guys'. For this incident, politicians should be totally, unequivocally saying that 'inciting violence against women is bad'. No qualifier. No 'but...'.

But they're not. Seriously, what the fuck.

The Kool Aid stretches a long way.
As Helen Joyce says, the cognitive dissonance and sunk costs in educated intelligent elites is too great for them to relent and reconsider.

As she says, who's going to be the first politician, or lawyer, or artist, or surgeon etc to say "I got it wrong, I shouldn't have transed my child/ I should have spoken up against medicalisation of teens and curtailing the hard fought rights of women, and not denied physical reality"?

And the second, third, fiftieth, hundredth, thousandth, the whole lot?

Thank you clymene re MP info. Wow.

Calling Barker a " female".

That jumped out at me too. That was very deliberate. A deliberate signifier of ideological position, and a power play.

PurpleGreenandWhiteAreTheNewPrimaryColours · 09/07/2023 20:33

I complained to met police about Baker and when asked for suspects gender, I couldn't say female and was too scared to put male in case they came after me for misgendering. So I had to put don't know.

ACatCalledPushka · 09/07/2023 20:33

Quite a ratio for dear Clive - over half a million views and 62 likes. The Labour Party needs to understand that we’ve had enough of this.

I do wonder how many women won’t vote Labour because of their appalling take on women’s rights. Luckily I’m in Rosie’s constituency so it’s not an issue for me personally.

An MP trying to equate women misgendering and stating unwanted reality with death, violence, rape threats, and punching people is about as insane as the Met flat out telling fairystories that a male is a female.

I could talk about personal fictions and selective facts and alternative realities, but it's time for plain speaking against this bullshit. This is a movement entirely rooted in lies, and we're reaching the point it is going to have to be faced.

PermanentTemporary · 09/07/2023 20:37

I was in Trafalgar Square that day. We'd been to an exhibition and were having an M&S sandwich perched on a bit of stone [parody of ourselves emoticon]

It was a very strange atmosphere. It was impossible to get a handle on what the gathering was or what they wanted to achieve. At least partly because the sound system was comically awful and the speakers were doing incoherent bellowing rather than speeches. Again, as young elderly types in our 50s it may have been our hearing.

The crowd was incredibly young. I wonder where it was advertised? It was good to see so many young disabled people politically engaged. I hope there are better leaders for them than the thug SJB though.

I find it incredible that legit politicians will hang out with Sarah Jane Baker. Obviously there are convicts who are released in a different mental place or who are well placed to campaign effectively. SJB is not one of them. More of a ticking time bomb.

He's Alba. I'm not totally convinced about Alba but Neale has been absolutely fantastic on this issue.

Alba broke away from the SNP and is led by Alex Salmond. The only real difference between them and the SNP is that they don't believe in 'gender identity ideology'. That was too much even for Alex lol.

You have kiwifarms and Nazis on your side.

The gender critical movement is hardly squeaky clean itself.

Nazis hate women. Hardly on our side.

They won't, because they're weak, they don't really care about women and they fear the disapproval of peers. This is how really bad things start.

This sort of rhetoric spreads as well.

They're so terribly brave on Twitter in talking about fighting off the evil terfs, but weirdly actual cases of them physically attacking people are thankfully rather rare.

Thanks for the info. From England but with Scottish ancestors (it took me years to understand why my form tutor found it hilarious that my be best friend was a Campbell).

Has anyone a link to the response from the MET police, it was on here earlier but has been removed.

He's trying to backtrack now, but still can't help being vile.

How dare that mp say that? All the violence is on one side from the trans ideologues side. Every single threat and actual violence.
The gc side only states facts and somehow get accused of genocide. Wtf? God help us if labour get in.

Well that's alright then. I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire. Purely to avoid corrupting his purity obviously.

Nazis hate women. Hardly on our side.

'Nazi' meaning nothing more than 'bad people' and a vague ongoing attempt to imply that a bunch of nutters in costume who appeared at a protest had anything to do with the women who'd gone there to talk.

The actual beliefs and purposes of the third reich are unknown and uncared about by this movement, who just hurl words about like toddlers throwing toys. In actual fact, if you do know the first thing about the Nazi movement, the similarities would be most striking with the book burning/language repressing/bank account removing/de personing/advocating violence against/ exclusion aspects of the TQ+ political movement rather than with any other modern political movement of any kind.

Do those Labour politicians realise who falls under the TERF label? Parents who object to their children being exposed to male genitals in changing rooms. Then there's women and girls who do not want to compete against biological males in sport. So having these views mean we're fair game for any violence coming our way? Completely nuts.

PatatiPatatras · 09/07/2023 22:10

Women will vote Labour. In the grand scheme of things, women usually put themselves last so women's rights will only be a footnote during the elections.

This woman sure as hell won't unless the Labour party has one hell of a come to Jesus moment before the next election.
