Sarah Jane Baker, on the Trans Pride stage, saying

“If you see a TERF, punch them in the fucking face!”

to a cheering crowd :)

NB to MNHQ the video shows this being said. It is not just an allegation being shared.

If this person is out on license, is a threat of violence not breaking that license? Should we be making the probation service aware of this person’s behaviour?

Thelnebriati · 09/07/2023 19:11

Yes - thats what I thought people were doing!

ACatCalledPushka · 09/07/2023 19:11

Apologies - didn’t realise the amazing @DennisNoelKavanaghOffTwitter had already posted on this thread.

SunnyEgg · 09/07/2023 19:12

So TRAs get to live out their male violence fantasies and women and girls should just be kind and take it

And not anger them by saying no

HOW is this ok?

CurseYouPerryThePlatypus · 09/07/2023 19:20

A little off topic but as I’ve been away from these boards for a while I hadn’t really heard of SJB until today. And I don’t get how it’s even entertained that he’s running for MP or whatever, or have I misunderstood something? When a family member ran for local council recently the forms had space to declare any convictions etc. Am I being totally naïve? Is there no crime bad enough that triggers a “haha no you aren’t running for office mate you’re only out on licence”? Or is it different because it’s an independent candidacy?

FFS does he not realise what sort of individual he is defending?

This rhetoric is just appalling.

Clearly he cannot bring himself to just condemn an adult male making a speech about harming women whose ideas you don’t like.

So we get proper apologist bullshit about ‘fault on both sides’.

Dreadful.

This has been posted further down thread but I urge anyone who hasn't come across Baker before to read it (and the links): the-lies-they-tell.org/2023/05/20/profile-of-trans-activist-sarah-jane-baker/

Having a prison record doesn't preclude you from standing as an MP

This sort of rhetoric spreads as well.

Violent rhetoric (and occasional violence) seems to be the norm for TRAs.

They try to claim gender critical feminists are the same, but struggle to find examples. The best they can find is some American conservative woman calling for men to 'eradicate the deviants'. For every one like her, there's probably a hundred TRAs waving baseball bats or guns, or offering to punch women.

Yes I think you’re right. https://terfisaslur.com/

My male boss (following criticism from female colleagues of a work women’s network that encouraged TIMs to join) asked why women don’t speak up more. I sent him that link.

Has this been linked yet? The 'both sides as bad as each other' bullshite has started -

Totally beyond belief.

SunnyEgg · 09/07/2023 19:49

‘Labour MP Clive Lewis shared people's anger over the comment and wrote: 'Advocating violence against others is wrong & this is no exception. But as you'll be aware violent language and actions are not unique to one side on this issue.’

Is he serious??

jfc

JFC indeed. His use of “but” = blatant attempt to deflect from “fucking punch a TERF” / minimise the seriousness of this threatening language.

He also fails to give any examples / evidence whatsoever of what exactly “the other side” have done.

Shame on him 🤬

ArabeIIaScott · 09/07/2023 19:59

I can 100% guarantee no women working for women's rights have cut their own balls off while in prison for torturing a hostage.

'both sides' my arse.

ArabeIIaScott · 09/07/2023 20:00

Also 'toxicity' is not the same, mate, as threatening violence to women.

SunnyEgg · 09/07/2023 20:00

We had the same when the 70 year old women was punched in the face in NZ

ACatCalledPushka · 09/07/2023 20:01

@SunnyEgg he also strongly supported the ‘breastfeeding mother’ in the ITV news clip.

Politicians need to remember that women have the vote now!

mrshoho · 09/07/2023 20:06

What a vile individual. The male aggression transcended amongst the crowd for all looking on to see. Awful people.

ACatCalledPushka · 09/07/2023 20:11

I didn’t know of this MP until the debate. I don’t know his politics but I like his take on this.

SunnyEgg · 09/07/2023 20:12

I dread a Labour / Lib Dem gov

We get violence, threats, punched or killed

And if it’s a male looking a certain way they’ll say well both sides are at it

Not sure I can hack that without going postal

Waitwhat23 · 09/07/2023 20:16

Everytime something like this happens and politicians become involved in some way, I think surely this is the part where they say to themselves 'what the fuck am I doing?'. When the SNP Spokesperson for Women and Equalities was caught smirking under a photo which said 'decapitate terfs', I thought surely they're going to have a wee think about how promoting violence against women isn't a sign of being 'the good guys'. For this incident, politicians should be totally, unequivocally saying that 'inciting violence against women is bad'. No qualifier. No 'but...'.

But they're not. Seriously, what the fuck.

I didn’t know of this MP until the debate. I don’t know his politics but I like his take on this.

He's Alba. I'm not totally convinced about Alba but Neale has been absolutely fantastic on this issue.
