Yes this is the feminism board. Paul Embery clipped it but I wonder if anyone saw it in full? He says the piece was about the impact of soaring water bills on an everyday mother. The voiceover calls the person a customer but the customer calls themself a mum. On the Twitter thread someone points out that the customer works for the TUC and is an economist who has been published in the Guardian. I think it’s fair to say the customer is neither a mother nor an ‘everyday’ one.

Yeah. For whose benefit is that baby swallowing male breast secretions?

ArabeIIaScott · 02/07/2023 19:52

I had thought men claiming to breastfeed was an extreme outlier occurrence, the kind of story you struggle to believe is true and that people claim you are inventing. Surely no rational person would claim that a male full of hormones would attempt this; there cant be any research into the possible effects or impacts?

This is absurdity. Insanity. It has to stop now.

The fact this man is high up in the TUC explains a lot.

Personally, I was scared to take antibiotics when I had mastitis and I avoided all alcohol when BFing, I was so scared of passing anything on to DD through my milk. I can't imagine taking a cocktail of hormones to induce lactation.

BorgQueen · 02/07/2023 20:14

Has anyone noticed where he said the breastpump in shot on itv was his ‘housemate’s’ who has a young baby?
That begs the question : where is the Mother of His child?

Very strange if they all live together, also very strange if he doesn’t live with his child’s Mum.
He isn’t ‘feeding’ that baby anything on his repulsive photo, the baby doesn’t look latched on at all.

I'm guessing this is the protocol he's talking about https://www.canadianbreastfeedingfoundation.org/induced/regular_protocol.shtml

I have no idea if it's recommended in the UK or whether there have been any studies into the nutritional content (and toxicity) of what a trans identified man can produce in this way.

I am an adopter in the UK, breastfeeding isn’t even discussed. We are well aware it would not benefit the baby. I am really fucking upset that adopters are again being used as a justification. See my post a page or so ago, I mentioned that we are used as props for this reason too.

I'm fairly sure as well that had you prior to the adoption made a big song and dance about how you must breastfeed and that you planned on taking drugs to stimulate your milk social services would have been having emergency meetings to decide what you were still fit/eligible to adopt.

They wouldn’t even have had a meeting, they’d have just deemed us weird or unfit - due to putting our needs above the child’s. I’m so upset that people may think that this is the case. Adoption comes with so much sadness and loss as it is and yet people are using us as justification for fetishes. I’ve tried to amplify the tweet as misinformation, but there’s no real category, if anyone would like to retweet I’d be grateful. https://twitter.com/mollybugle/status/1675580119820140544?s=46&t=g7UjjEa2S2y82o-tbjyL_g

I just have, turns out I'm already following you as well!

It's infuriating to me that they misrepresent adopters and I'm not one, (but one of my best friends is adopted) so it must drive you absolutely potty.

The rules on adopting in the UK have always seemed to be rather stricter than a lot of places so why people fall for the crap I'll never know.

MrsJamin · 02/07/2023 21:13

This is clearly a fetish, how can it be allowed by social services?

Helleofabore · 02/07/2023 21:16

Whatthechicken · 01/07/2023 19:43

@MrsOvertonsWindow thank you and the other women who said this.

I am an adoptive mum and I was so bloody furious when I read the comparisons being made. I am well aware of my biology believe me, and yes we have gone through complex legal procedures to become our children’s parents. Adopted children and their parents are always dragged into this argument; whether that be surrogacy (most adopters understand and live with the damage that is done when children are taken away from their biological mum), breastfeeding males (adopters in the UK would not breastfeed, because we understand that would not be to the benefit of the child), or being compared to transwomen. Just leave us alone, we have enough to deal with, we are not gotchas and anyone capitalising on the pain and loss caused by adoption for the sake of argument should be ashamed of themselves.

Also, the word Mother is taken.

💐 For you.

Third attempt, without the word that Mumsnet seems to have blacklisted.

The man promoted by ITV has tweeted a thread. It has few likes relative to the number of views. I believe that's called getting ratioed

Feministwoman · 02/07/2023 22:10

🤬🤢

Tulipblank · 02/07/2023 22:15

This is fucking hideous. That poor baby. In what reality is putting a baby on a man's chest and getting it to ingest whatever unnatural shit that's being secreted is anything but abusive. It's a tiny baby. Who's on his/her side?

Petrarkanian · 02/07/2023 22:56

That picture made me feel nauseous, my baby was physically unable to breast feed.

MrsJamin · 02/07/2023 22:58

Where's this child's mother? This is making me so sad for the baby. This person must be investigated.

littlbrowndog · 02/07/2023 23:08

Truly disgusting. That poor baby. Where is the mum to let her baby suck on a man’s nipple and he posts the picture on Twitter for everyone to see

wtaf is going on

Please don't blame the mother.
1st rule of misogyny- women are responsible for what men do.

Boiledbeetle · 02/07/2023 23:19

For obvious reasons I've dropped the photo, but the stats make for good reading.

I'm still not that clued up On Twitter but even i know that 255 likes off 4.5 million views means its gone down like a lead balloon!
