@SorryAuntLydia thanks, I'll refer back to this. It's a powerful feeling to decide where to spend your money & with all this talk of "values", I won't spend my money on any company that devalues biological women or tries to dictate to me "what's ok to say"..... I'm not that innocent!

I really don't like the phrase "Go Woke, Go Broke". It's currently being levelled at Fender because they have the temerity to feature lots of women (OG variety) and black artists in their "Featured Artist" series and sponsored players. Nova Twins (black, female, British) in particular seem to have triggered a massive backlash.

Maybe I'm missing the point but that was the first time I saw the phrase used and it just seems to be a rallying call for overt racists.

Moonandstarz · 08/06/2023 16:18

@BCCoach I think it's ultimately what's going to happen though. People are sick of woke companies preaching & virtue signalling.

I don’t do twitter at the moment, have Oxfam deleted that dreadful anti women film

DeflatedAgain · 08/06/2023 16:42

featuring drag as “inclusive” when many find it offensive and a parody of women.

I'm pretty new to these threads and find it all so eye opening. I have never even thought of this before and it resonates deeply with me the more I think about it.

Thanks all for the constant conversation on this board, I am learning so much.

Moonandstarz · 08/06/2023 17:38

@DeflatedAgain me too. In general though I find mumsnet great especially regarding education & child rearing. I have learned so much. My children are so young still & I'm shocked at all the indoctrination & hidden messages. Thank God for mumsnet.

John Lewis can fuck off
Ocado surprisingly doesn't seem to be joining in so I'm still buying from them

SequinDiscoBiscuits · 08/06/2023 17:47

Ah noooo what have Adidas done? Been a customer for 30 years 😑

I really want new gazelles too.

CheeseTouch · 08/06/2023 17:53

I have given a lot of money to Oxfam over the years. No more. Disappointed to see John Lewis and Waitrose on the list. I don’t use any of the other brands.

MorrisZapp · 08/06/2023 17:59

Hope you don't like Shay and Blue perfume. They're donating to Mermaids during Pride.

thatsn0tmyname · 08/06/2023 18:02

The Green party
M&S for their changing room policy

TellingBone · 08/06/2023 18:06

I like your attitude, @DeflatedAgain, and hope to see more posts by you.

Now that's a bummer 😕

Anissue · 08/06/2023 18:28

Honestly this is so sad and petty, but carry on

Moonandstarz · 08/06/2023 18:32

@Anissue yes we will carry on deciding which companies deserve our hard earned cash & which ones we will no longer choose to support. It's a free market & consumer choice is powerful.

Why is sad and petty? Women can spend their money wherever they like for whatever reason they choose. I presume you have places you choose not to spend your money? This list highlights some companies where there are concerns about their treatment or views on women (because again, this is about being anti-women not pro-trans).

I wouldn’t boycott some on this list. I have no issue with someone like Lego, for example, who have just created some trans style Lego. I will however never spend a penny with Oxfam ever again. I think all women are able to make those judgments for themselves based on their own values and there’s nothing petty about it.

HandBall · 08/06/2023 18:54

I quite like the challenge of a boycott. Using independent etsy retailers for instance has been interesting.

There are items I can only purchase in some shops so I still use them in a limited capacity during the year.
