For once we can do a thread about a new book where all the writers are actually on this very board!

Some of you know what I have been up to recently, when I can tear myself away from posting twaddle, gifs and sweary words in bigly letters on here, but for the rest of you…

Over Christmas and New Year after the passing of the GRR (Scotland) Bill a thread was started by TerfranosaurusVagina on the Mumsnet FWR board with a poem about Nicola Sturgeon. Eventually on that thread (and a couple of other threads) over 80 poems were written.

Ramblingnamechanger suggested we do something with them to raise funds to help the women of Scotland and whilst Dodecaheidyin was tempted to write to Poetry Please on Radio 4, and ask them to do an extended special for Hogmanay about our poems, in the end it was decided to make the thread into a book.

After much procrastination by me “Under the Duvet of Darkness: Poems written by angry women for angry women because WOMEN WON’T WHEESHT” went live on Amazon on 31st March

https://amzn.eu/d/98aEnJy

If searching on the site you need to:

Select BOOKS as the department and UNDER THE DUVET OF DARKNESS in the search box.

Currently it doesn’t show up in the main all departments search (I don’t know why or if it will, it takes a while for everything to work properly according to Amazon).

Theres also a QR code below which should take you right there (hopefully the attached works)

MONEY FROM SALES:

In honour of Magdalen Berns, who co-founded the Scottish campaign group For Women Scotland, 100% of the profit from the sale of this book will be donated to For Women Scotland.*

*Please note that whilst the profit will be donated to For Women Scotland they are not involved, nor are they responsible in any way for the themes, contents or publication of this book.

Thankfully I don't have 300 copies sat in my living room which means it's the lovely people who have been buying it that are the ones to be congratulated!

Any more sales and the First Feminist will be wanting the proceeds to pay off the SNP's overdraft...

RealFeminist · 25/04/2023 20:58

ABOUT THAT

Boiledbeetle · 25/04/2023 21:10

@TheBiologyStupid I've already got it earmarked to pay off the credit card i booked my holiday on publicly stated all the money will go to FWS and in no way is it going to Nicola! (@RealFeminist I've used your other name on your ticket. The police didn't find your other passport did they?)

If only the luxury campervan hadn't been seized ,and the ferries worked, and it hadn't been for those pesky kids women, she'd have got(ten) away with it, too...

I keep waiting for someone to pull her face off to reveal the true villain trying to ruin the SNP. But I'm not sure who I'm expecting to be underneath at this point!

MY OLD MAN SAID FOLLOW THE VAN

I've hidden all the money in the camper cooking pan!

It's at the police compound behind locked gates
But we need the money now, no time to waste

Can you have a word with a Bobby you know
So whatever you need, even a blow

But we need that money by the end of the day
As I've already booked the tickets to far far away.

if you can't hide the motorhome?

Boiledbeetle · 26/04/2023 00:58

To be fair motorhomes generally are known for their appallingly bad hide and seek skills, so that's not entirely on RealFeminist or the police!

I'd have bought vintage motorbikes myself. They are much better players of hide and seek. And keep their value better.

ComradeIcakethereforeIam · 28/04/2023 14:47

Erm, I've never posted an amazon review. Does anybody know how you check what name it'll be published under and/or change it?

Boiledbeetle · 28/04/2023 15:12

Allow me to be of service Cake....

Ooh shit you aren't going to like the new mumsnet rule at all @ComradeIcakethereforeIam

So click on Amazon app

type 'public profile' into search bar

Click on first thing that comes up.

In their you can change names get rid of any previous reviews or location information and see what's seen by the public.

Glad you've got to the end of it! I'd give you cake or a nice gif but i might be reported and suspended for derailing a thread!
