A Mumsnet thread about a book about a Mumsnet thread “Under the Duvet of Darkness” written by the women of Mumsnet

For once we can do a thread about a new book where all the writers are actually on this very board!

Some of you know what I have been up to recently, when I can tear myself away from posting twaddle, gifs and sweary words in bigly letters on here, but for the rest of you…

Over Christmas and New Year after the passing of the GRR (Scotland) Bill a thread was started by TerfranosaurusVagina on the Mumsnet FWR board with a poem about Nicola Sturgeon. Eventually on that thread (and a couple of other threads) over 80 poems were written.

Ramblingnamechanger suggested we do something with them to raise funds to help the women of Scotland and whilst Dodecaheidyin was tempted to write to Poetry Please on Radio 4, and ask them to do an extended special for Hogmanay about our poems, in the end it was decided to make the thread into a book.

After much procrastination by me “Under the Duvet of Darkness: Poems written by angry women for angry women because WOMEN WON’T WHEESHT” went live on Amazon on 31st March

Currently it doesn’t show up in the main all departments search (I don’t know why or if it will, it takes a while for everything to work properly according to Amazon).

This will probably get deleted, but I do like to think what would happen if all women just point blank refused to share spaces with these men.

This old man,
Said he was a gal
Headed to the ladies
To play with his best pal

When he couldn't find a woman
His AGP self was so sad
Cos what's the point of jacking off
If real girls don't feel bad?

This old man,
Wanted a new dress
And to flash his twig & berries
Making young girls feel distressed

But all the ladies stayed away
And kept their children safe at home,
so he soiled some pants in M&S
Before he stropped off home.

Have just cut and pasted that last batch into my word document. I'm working at sloth pace!

They can't discuss like adults
They scream! They cry. They spit
For nothing but "misgendering"
It's frightening and shocking

They won't let women gather
They won't let us speak or watch films
For doing so they assault us
It's horrific and unfair

They are damaged by social media
They harm, they cut, they judge
For parents it's a nightmare life
It's the end of the world

I don't know if you're still looking for contribution but here's my effort if you are.

They said they were inclusive
Then pushed the women out
They denied they dealt in stereotypes
Then began to pose and pout.

They said they were the victims
Then posed with guns and bats
They ignored the deaths of women
They cared not a jot for that.

But they did care if women gathered
If they met or tried to speak
They’d shout and scream all over them.
Leading many more to peak.

A women’s voice became the
Worst thing you could hear
It might say the Emperor’s naked
And that was their biggest fear.

Their house of sticks was flimsy
The truth could blow it all
But the women, they were circling
And they knew they'd make it fall.

@Calyx72 oh you didn't have to, it's your photo! What I meant was Quantum, who brazenly used your foto, (terrible woman that Quantum! Goes round nicking stuff left right and centre if you're not watching her) was going to remove if from hers so that you could use your own photo in your own review! 😁
