For once we can do a thread about a new book where all the writers are actually on this very board!

Some of you know what I have been up to recently, when I can tear myself away from posting twaddle, gifs and sweary words in bigly letters on here, but for the rest of you…

Over Christmas and New Year after the passing of the GRR (Scotland) Bill a thread was started by TerfranosaurusVagina on the Mumsnet FWR board with a poem about Nicola Sturgeon. Eventually on that thread (and a couple of other threads) over 80 poems were written.

Ramblingnamechanger suggested we do something with them to raise funds to help the women of Scotland and whilst Dodecaheidyin was tempted to write to Poetry Please on Radio 4, and ask them to do an extended special for Hogmanay about our poems, in the end it was decided to make the thread into a book.

After much procrastination by me “Under the Duvet of Darkness: Poems written by angry women for angry women because WOMEN WON’T WHEESHT” went live on Amazon on 31st March

https://amzn.eu/d/98aEnJy

If searching on the site you need to:

Select BOOKS as the department and UNDER THE DUVET OF DARKNESS in the search box.

Currently it doesn’t show up in the main all departments search (I don’t know why or if it will, it takes a while for everything to work properly according to Amazon).

Theres also a QR code below which should take you right there (hopefully the attached works)

MONEY FROM SALES:

What is that? Bacon and....Stilton?

Boiledbeetle · 05/04/2023 15:11

It is indeed bacon and Stilton!

I've been stuck on these since my mate came for Christmas and she suggested the combination and now I can't stop!

The books? The book fairy!

The gorgeous bagel? The bagel fairy!

I just need a dishes fairy now!

I trust you have bought a copy of said book. If not I will send my cats round to purrsuade you!

Waitwhat23 · 05/04/2023 15:41

Gah. Not the combination for me. Cream cheese and pickles on a multi seed bagel on the other hand...

Cat Please GIF by Atinum

My cat is not heavy just unevenly distributed around his middle.

You should hear his meow though...it's ferocious!

Never mind @Waitwhat23 more for me!

Anyone any good at making photo montages?

All the photos of books on here with the dinosaur QR code in the middle would be nice!

It turns out it is beyond my ability! I can't even work out how!

On a plus note for the other writers

I have had an email from another published poet who said they were very much enjoying the sheer RAGE of the book!

That’s what I love about it. It is a record of a specific period of time when everything felt very bleak and the rage just feels so very tangible.

I know the bumf says over a two month period but that was just to cover the very late poem swaps at the last minute, which gave me the chance to stick a pink leggings poem in and a boss Nicola had fucked off poem, amongst other things which brought it nicely to a close. Within less than 2 months from the GET decision she was gone.

The bulk of the poems when you look are written in a very tiny time frame 28th Dec 22 to about 7th January 23

So it does show bloody angry we were that fortnight after the 22nd.

We were raging!

I can still remember you could literally feel it coming off peoples words in posts on all the threads!

Unsurprisingly given the arrest of Nicola's husband it's been a slow day. Plus there's only do many tweets i can send demanding people buy a book. It's a good day to let them just arrive.

But even so we do have 12 processed orders and that takes us to 180 processed orders and £450
