For once we can do a thread about a new book where all the writers are actually on this very board!

Some of you know what I have been up to recently, when I can tear myself away from posting twaddle, gifs and sweary words in bigly letters on here, but for the rest of you…

Over Christmas and New Year after the passing of the GRR (Scotland) Bill a thread was started by TerfranosaurusVagina on the Mumsnet FWR board with a poem about Nicola Sturgeon. Eventually on that thread (and a couple of other threads) over 80 poems were written.

Ramblingnamechanger suggested we do something with them to raise funds to help the women of Scotland and whilst Dodecaheidyin was tempted to write to Poetry Please on Radio 4, and ask them to do an extended special for Hogmanay about our poems, in the end it was decided to make the thread into a book.

After much procrastination by me “Under the Duvet of Darkness: Poems written by angry women for angry women because WOMEN WON’T WHEESHT” went live on Amazon on 31st March

If searching on the site you need to:

Select BOOKS as the department and UNDER THE DUVET OF DARKNESS in the search box.

Currently it doesn’t show up in the main all departments search (I don’t know why or if it will, it takes a while for everything to work properly according to Amazon).

Theres also a QR code below which should take you right there (hopefully the attached works)

I actually appear to have ordered two by mistake. What shall I do with my duplicate?

A "send one to your local MP" campaign would be a good one.

Is it there yet? Is it there yet? Is it there yet?I

My missing in action one has finally decided to get itself delivered today.

Unless it decides it would rather just stay in the van and go back to the dept again!

It's here!

I'm feeling triggered by the braggarts with two copies, mocking my inability to get one. I hope you're satisfied.

I'm leaving to sulk theatrically now.

Mine's heeerrreeee!! So excited I didn't even get it indoors before opening it Grin

That's, right. Mock me with your opposable thumb.

Sniff

Mine's too clumsy to even manage the second asterisk to make the text bold.

Boiledbeetle · 04/04/2023 15:40

gosh look at all those books, arriving whilst I go off to spend five minutes doorstepping the Conservatives , well they were doorstepping me until I discovered she was a fellow mumsnetter...
So when you come here this evening to check out the weirdo, who claims to be Boiledbeetle, who stood and swore a lot on the doorstep about men in women's spaces...And by the way would you like to buy a book written by the women of mumsnet whilst you ask for me vote...

Hello!!!!! Fellow mumsnetter...Buy the book!

There there never mind!.

Anyway enough of that.

Get back to persuading the women of your family to buy copies.

How long before you're home and able to sort out a copy?

OP posts:
Boiledbeetle · 04/04/2023 15:56

It's slower today, not surprising, but still got another 31 orders ready to go out today!

Hopefully those of you with Twitter accounts will go and tweet out your:

euphoric gender critical joy!!!!!in photo form

I'm still convinced I'm just randomly sending tweets into the ether! I have no bloody clue what I'm doing on there.

Talking of which I'm just going for my two minute immersion into the depths of hell.

I should be off on the 20th and straight on to another, on the 26th. I really need the work, but I was supposed to be home on the 15th.

HandShoe · 04/04/2023 16:02

Loving the book - only arrived this afternoon and I'm nearly finished.
Thank you wonderful angry women

@HandShoe admittedly it's not the longest of books you'll ever read, but glad you like it 😁

I was impressed by how many poems had been written -I didn't expect it to be as long a book as was tbh. Very good value - plenty of poems to the pound there 😀

Hoping its the first volume of many - I can imagine it being used as a set text for University students of the future studying 'Ladydick, Nicola and Ribbons: An Investigation into the batshit misogyny of the early 21st century and the Women who wouldn't Wheest '

Pahaha. Local MP is a great shout. Let me read it first so I can point out anything particularly relevant

Friends and family not an option sadly. It would be wasted.
