Tweets to KitchenAidUSA are very critical. Did any of you know this - I ask because Kitchen Aid in general is popular among Mumsnetters.

I'm a long time lurker and this is my first post on this board.
I'm pretty upset.

Following the derail, we had 2 dualit kettles. First one didn’t last long, but since other people had better experiences, and I liked the look, I replaced it with another. That one didn’t last long either…. Lesson learned!

IcakethereforeIam · 14/03/2023 10:27

Tbf to Dylan. I expect KitchenAid paid well for this and I wouldn't expect anyone to turn down cash for just doing their normal shtick. This is totally on KitchenAid, Olay and all the other companies happy to insult and damage women with this nonsense.

Why do you not think it’s it good faith? Surely reporting me would be the best plan if you think I’m a troll.

I didn’t say you were a troll. I felt you might have been a bit disingenuous in claiming not to understand what the real issue might be with Dylan.

And the characterisation of people’s dislike as “hate” is a distortion, imo.

TeaAndStrumpets · 14/03/2023 10:41

Hah! Try getting Kitchen Aid spares in this country. I have reverted to a vintage Magimix and binned my Kitchen Aid processor.

They look pretty but not fit for purpose. So actually getting a glam fake female is PERFECT for the brand!

Suzie Izzard is missing a trick with Kenwood though.....

Why does everyone hate Dylan so much? I’ve watched many of her videos and I actually think she’s quite sweet. Don’t get me wrong she’s clearly got some real difficulties and is far too fragile to be posting her life online but she’s not saying anything political about women in sport or prisons (that I have ever seen). She just seems like the Paris Hilton of trans social media people.

Fair enough, I was more talking about the ‘hate’ they get online. I was genuinely interested if I’d missed something more directly political.

Hate? Correctly sexing someone is not hate.

Objecting to a man playing an offensive caricature of a woman is not hate?

Being pissed off that the caricature, claiming oppression, has earned a man millions in brand deals, lead to an invitation to a women's summit and an audience with the President of the United States is my hate, it's pointing out sex based inequality and double standards.

Here's what real hate looks like.

I suppose I just think there are worse people out there and although misguided and at times frankly embarrassing I don’t think she’s a horrible person and feel sorry for the amount of hate she gets. I understand all your points though completely.

Great...
We are now in an era where most people in the limelight and those pulling the strings are utterly awful, creepy individuals, but a particular person is the best of the worst, so hey! not that bad..

Matt Walsh absolutely blasted Dylan for Dylans post saying that because Dylan is now looking the best that Dylan has ever looked, he could easily steal our husband's - but be assured Dylan 'would never' do that to us.
There was a lot of backlash and mockery for that post.

SinnerBoy · 14/03/2023 11:22

Oh dear, poor deluded Dylan. I don't think he's got much chance of stealing husbands, unless they have a fetish for people like him.

I hadn't heard of that company, as i'm in the UK. It must be a bit like us referring to Curry's, i imagine.
Anyhoo, interesting thread, so good call and welcome to the board!
Happy posting!

Eh? KitchenAid been around years and everywhere 😂 in any case I object to Dylan Mulvane in most respects and wouldn’t buy anything he was promoting.

MangoNo5 · 14/03/2023 03:57

I was going to buy each of my three daughters KitchinAid food processors for Easter, thanks for the heads up I'll now be getting them Magimix instead.

Totally off topic but….
If you are in the UK , there is a supplier of Magimix who offer very good promotions and are great for spare parts. I have just renewed my bowl and lid after 23 years of regular use, and they had a great deal on that plus some other accessories .

if you Google Magimix accessories you we find them ( second letter of the alphabet)

ArabellaScott · 14/03/2023 11:33

Basically, people don't like to be mocked. And it seems very much as if Dylan is mocking women.

Oh because a male reducing women to the worst kinds of stereotypes is pretty offensive. If you find that hard to comprehend, try to imagine a white person in black face, performing the worst kinds of stereotypes about black people and claiming that was what made them black, AND then they gets loads of sponsorship deals for products designed for black people and get invited to the White House for example, to talk about black people. Do you see why that might upset some people?

Never got their outlandish prices anyway - must be the snob factor. Bosch is so much better value.

Bosch is just better.

MrsandProud · 14/03/2023 13:19

It's the advertising agencies and influencer managers (yes, there is such a thing) who are havily captured by politics and wokeness who push most companies into taking sides like this

What I don't understand is why businesses go along with it. Can't they read the room? They seem more and more clueless!

NetballMumGrrr · 14/03/2023 13:23

I like this Dualit but bad reviews.

I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think?

Kettle

Madcats · 14/03/2023 13:26

What a bizarre image! Is it supposed to be saying "look, even somebody who looks unwell can be tempted to cook healthy(?) cakes".

On the plus side it has reminded me that I need to get a new motor for my 1970's Kenwood; it didn't cope well with my lockdown breadmaking.

For those of you wanting a Kenwood (or Le Creuset), there is usually lots for sale on eBay these days.

SidewaysOtter · 14/03/2023 13:38

Well, that's quite handy.

Because I was planning to buy a mixer when I sort out the kitchen. My head told me to buy a Kenwood - a friend's grandmother has one that's donkey's years old and still going strong - but I was always rather partial to the look of the KitchenAids.

Kenwood it is.

Kettle

I have a bad neck so need a lightweight kettle. I found the Dualit one litre one in this style, and I really like it. It is very sensibly designed to minimise scalding when refilling if it's still hot, and the handle has a very stable grip. One litre is plenty big enough to fill a large teapot or a hot water bottle, it has been excellent. I have had it a year.

THIS WITH BELLS ON

HaveTheDayOff · 14/03/2023 15:32

I couldn’t be without my Kitchen Aid. Kenwood just doesn’t cut it.

CeratopsofthePharoahs · 14/03/2023 16:09

I've got a Kenwood Chef titanium. Weighs and absolute tonne, but does just about everything you could possibly want.
Kitchens Aid mixers just look like style over substance, which explains why they've picked Mulvaney although I don't think he has much of either.

@IcakethereforeIam Yes! Now every time Mulvaney appears I'm going to think of Chris Cornell instead. Mmmmm!

Even consider a kenwood - they're very good. My parents got one as a wedding present nearly 50 years ago. I have it now and it's still going. Unfortunately for kenwood, it doesn't need to be replaced but I evangelise about their longevity and usefulness and would encourage anyone to invest in one.

ehb102 · 14/03/2023 16:21

Urgh! Brands that pretend men are better women than women disgust me. Let the men be their customers. I'll spend money elsewhere.

Kenwood all the way!
