I thought MPs were bound by some standards of behaviour?

Yesterday the leader of the SNP at WM called his peers 'rabid gammon', which was shocking, but what I found more disturbing was Llloyd Russell-Moyle's verbal attack on Miriam Cates (clip above).

I actually found his behaviour frightening and alarming, and can't imagine how it must feel to have that venom directed at you by a colleague - let alone the slanderous accusations made.

Is it possible to make a complaint to the Labour Party about his behaviour?

This has caused me to grind my teeth down jnto nubs, could you please give a trigger warning next time?!

Shameless twat he is.

EpicChaos · 21/01/2023 15:33

I hadn't realised he'd also moved to sit near Miriam which seems like an act of pure intimidation to me. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour!
His attitude and behaviour fall very far short of that which we expect from people in his position, at the very least, he should lose the whip but we know nothing will happen to him!
Disgusting little excuse for a man!

Boiledbeetle · 21/01/2023 15:41

So I'm no good with Twitter so maybe someone with skills can look, but Lloyd seems to have gone rather quiet on Twitter since his behaviour got vilified.

I like the way she's so clear and definite though..and interestingly, he capitulates at times and effects a very different demeanour when challenged and put on the spot by someone with a degree of control over him.

Vilified? Bullied by merciless and violent TERFs, surely?

😁

God yeah, sorry my bad. I'll just go have a word with myself. One of the benefits of a split personality is that's much easier to do!😁

Kerry1962 · 21/01/2023 17:00

What I found most disturbing was his behaviour later in that session where he first moved to the SNP bench to stare across at Miriam and then moved to a Tory side seat a few feet from her staring at her until MP Philip Bristow moved and sat next to her and positioned himself to block the intimidating stare. This was an act of male psychological violence that I'm sure others here have experienced. All the hollow apologies in the world do not excuse what he did. He needs to be disciplined/whip removed.

Abhannmor · 21/01/2023 17:48

Looking at it again , he does seem to be having a psychotic episode of some kind.

He is like a different person talking to Hartley Brewer? Calmer at any rate.

"Breaking Scandal! 3 Labour MPs shared a platform with Sarah Jane Baker, who served 30 years in prison for attempted murder & kidnap."

"Labour claim in the @DailyMailUK they didn’t hear her comments, yet our video proves they were listening with rapt attention."

Gosh, LRM is tall, unless he was standing on a woman?

Just to make sure anyone following this story is aware of the petition started by Sex Matters to update the Equality Act to make clear that ‘sex’ means biological sex,

Interesting that the policy advisor for Lloyd Russel-Moyle is Carly-May Kavanagh, the TRA who yelled at the SFW event and called a baby a fascist.

It appears neither of them can tolerate women speaking.

Aside from everything else the pair of them could do with some anger management therapy.

Anyone sufficiently unwell to shout in that way at a baby needs rather more care than that.

Workerbeep · 22/01/2023 11:24

Lloyd russell-moyles needs to be thrown out of Westminster for the intimidation shown towards Miriam Coates.

Thank you Miriam.

he can froth at the mouth, postulate and finger stab all he likes I don’t care it’s only him raising his blood pressure; but moving seats and purposely sitting right next to her and staring like that. It needs called out.

I’ve only managed to find a photo of him sitting so close to her and aggressively staring. How on Earth is this acceptable behaviour of a MP on any level?
where was security?
do you think he’d have done that to another man?

No comment and support him gently reminds us all that it is acceptable for other men to do this in public

So unsettling and demonstrates his contempt for women and those with a differing opinion.

Birds of a feather and all that.

What added to my anger, was my MP standing up, not to defend Miriam but to complain about being lumped in with the rest of her party as a bigot!

Aye, with a weaselly wee suggestion that LRM maybe should't call MC what he called her, perhaps, if he didn't mind.

Never underestimate how much some men hate women having the temerity to speak.

I and others made complaints about 2 local councillors (male) after they displayed similar intimidating, angry behaviour in a meeting. It was shocking. It was a consultation about licensing policy review, and a number of us had been invited to come in and give our time and share our views on the policy. The councillors concerned were both members of the licensing committee, and there was no reason that the issue should affect them personally in any way.

But they were so angry that spit was flying out of their mouth as they spoke. One of them turned an alarming shade of red in the face. The other threatened one of the invitees with legal action (without any justification whatsoever). And of course raised voices, and finger jabbing. Though they stood up out of their seats, at least they didn't cross the room. but it was in a fairly formal committee setting. The worst of their anger was targeted at a female youth worker in her 20s, as far as I could tell because she was female and the youngest person in the room.

At the end of the meeting, the chair of the meeting came and gave us the contact details for the council's standard officer, so we could make complaints - which we did. The outcome was the offending councillors were required to write letters of apology to all those present in the meeting. That was the only 'punishment' the council's standards officer had at their disposal. Their party couldn't give a toss.

One of them has since had his party whip removed after using the N-word repeatedly in a council meeting which was being live-streamed. Again nothing the council itself could do beyond asking for apology and recommending E&D training. The other was promoted to a cabinet post within the council.

It's done its job though. No way will I be getting involved in local politics. I am in awe of the women who do, despite the toxicity from their fellow politicians, often within their own party.

Pat McFadden saying he didn't know what LRM was doing, in crossing the floor:

LRM is not very articulate, is he ?

His “arguments” simply crumble in the sunlight. He is put to shame by the clever and informed women he despises so much.
