Just noticed a tweet to say Helen is on at 7.20 this morning with India - discussing Scottish GRR.

OP posts:
rabbitwoman · 16/01/2023 07:22

Ha, Helen wipes the floor with India and India obviously hates it..... Let's see if they are treated fairly and equally.....

WarriorN · 16/01/2023 07:24

Oooh!

Saltovinegar · 16/01/2023 07:34

IW talking bollox again!

dunBle · 16/01/2023 07:39

Darn, only just seen this. Any particularly good bits I missed?

PicnicBunny · 16/01/2023 07:42

Ahh I missed it! Hopefully someone will have it up somewhere.

Ifulikepinacoladas · 16/01/2023 07:46

Inda has tweeted that Helen knows nothing about the trans issue. I don't think she liked Helens hard facts at the end about men lying their way into women's prisons.
I'm so angry about this whole subject. I can never articulate myself well enough when I try to speak about it which is frustrating. Especially to DD 🙄

PronounsBaby · 16/01/2023 07:49

Did anyone watch? How did it go? I'm blocked from iw tweets

Gcfemale · 16/01/2023 07:53

I'm pretty sure I heard IW saying 'no one apart from trans people know what it's like to be trans' which I accept, but I find this to be at odds with people who are not female claiming that they know what it is to be female.

Ifulikepinacoladas · 16/01/2023 07:55

I didn't see the whole thing but IW said there is not one single case in the whole world of men pretending to be trans to attack or abuse women.
Helen said it's irrelevant whether they are pretending. NI has 3 cases alone of men being charges with severe crimes against women and then subsequently changing their gender so they are now housed in women's prisons.

Gcfemale · 16/01/2023 07:56

Helen Joyce was great. IW claimed that no one has or would bother to change legal sex just to have access to females which could lead to negative impacts on those females and HJ refuted this and gave examples where it has been the case.

rabbitwoman · 16/01/2023 08:01

Wouldn't it just be so much better if IW et al just admitted there was a problem and tried to find solutions?

Eternally denying there are ever any examples EVER is such gaslighting.

And you know what? It's not necessary to have examples of men pretending to be trans women to harm women. It's enough to have examples of MEN harming women full stop.

And those are legion.

Cazziebo · 16/01/2023 08:03

Helen was wonderful - calm, clear, objective, evidence based. What a powerful advocate she is!

Not sure if India understood the question on single sex schools or deliberately muddled it all up....she certainly reinforced Helen's point about issues.

Absolutely perfectly put Gcfemale.
One of those common sense arguments you 'can't unsee'.

Didn't see the show, but how fantastic a producer considered and was allowed to book Helen for this. They must have known what the outcome would be.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 16/01/2023 08:06

HJ is starting to break through to the mainstream. This is excellent news

This is a good resource to refer to if you ever feel stuck for words in a discussion. Each of these cases are available for every one to look at on the public domain, as well as the national statistics for violent and sexual crimes.

Violetparis · 16/01/2023 08:20

Just caught the end of an interview with Jonathan Reynolds, Labour MP on Sky News. He said Labours position was to keep single sex spaces in line with the Equality Act. That's the clearest I've heard a Labour MP speak on this issue. He definitely said single sex rather than safe spaces.

beastlyslumber · 16/01/2023 08:24

Have to give props to India for being the only TRA willing to debate with women. India is doing us a great service.

Hope there's a clip of this segment and it's brilliant that a mainstream programme finally invited Helen on!

Ifulikepinacoladas · 16/01/2023 08:24

Jimmyneutronsforehead
Thanks, I appreciate that.

bellinisurge · 16/01/2023 08:33

Reynolds is my MP. I have written to him once or twice about this as well as local issues. He always sent back "Be Kind" type replies masquerading as thoughtful analysis. Maybe he's started to do some actual analysis.

TidyDancer · 16/01/2023 08:37

Helen was fabulous (as always). IW floundered. Helen refuted absolutely everything IW could come out with, most of which was laughable.

I did find it quite hilarious when IW tried to say only trans people could understand being trans....is it not obvious that it follows that only women could understand being women?

Hi India (since we know they stalk these boards 😂). 👋🏼

VaddaABeetch · 16/01/2023 08:41

Did India bring their cervix this time that they offered to show previously.

In a way it’s a bit cruel putting India up against Helen? The contrast intellectually?

MorvenOfMalvern · 16/01/2023 08:41

Following in hope of a clip at some point!

After listening to HJ on Triggernometry I am now a massive fan. Have bought her book and looking forward to reading it Hopefully this will lead more people to hear her eminently sensible, balanced and thoughtful discussions.

IW is so so so unpleasant on Twitter that anyone now looking to find out more by googling will be left in no doubt as to what kind of person they are.

RoyalCorgi · 16/01/2023 08:52

Slightly torn. After India's disgusting racist tweet recently about a black woman, I'm appalled that India is invited to speak on television. But on the other hand, India is so intellectually feeble that it makes it so much easier for Helen to wipe the floor with them. I do hope a clip is available soon.

Trans is a phenomenal read. It is so well researched and written, it is obvious so much work has gone into it. It was a page turner for me, but not in a good way, more I cannot actually believe this happened/is happening. The more people that read it the better, and tell their friends.

Violetparis · 16/01/2023 08:53

bellinisurge - here is a link to the Jonathan Reynolds interview. I do think Labour are moving on rhis issue.
