Just noticed a tweet to say Helen is on at 7.20 this morning with India - discussing Scottish GRR.

Slightly torn. After India's disgusting racist tweet recently about a black woman, I'm appalled that India is invited to speak on television. But on the other hand, India is so intellectually feeble that it makes it so much easier for Helen to wipe the floor with them. I do hope a clip is available soon.

Agree - racists get somewhat of a free pass, it seems.

But also agree with Helle .

ArabellaScott · 16/01/2023 10:12

bellini, sorry, my anger was not directed at you!

RoyalCorgi · 16/01/2023 10:12

If I were Willoughby, I would be suspicious.

I don't think Willoughby is intelligent enough to be suspicious.

bellinisurge · 16/01/2023 10:13

No problem @ArabellaScott .

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/01/2023 10:18

It is not up yet. Either on GMB catch up or twitter. A million fingers are pressing refresh.

It's up on ITVx, just watched it. India waffled on not making much sense for ages. Held up passport and had to be told to be careful about identity theft Grin Glad they let HJ finish and refute the claim that no bad people self ID, she was brilliant.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/01/2023 10:18

I went to today's programme and skipped to about 7.17, it was soon after that.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/01/2023 10:19

Also amusing that it was Ed Balls presenting.

VioletLemon · 16/01/2023 10:19

India is a he, always start there.

bellinisurge · 16/01/2023 10:20

Cheers @Ereshkigalangcleg

LaughingPriest · 16/01/2023 10:24

Held up passport and had to be told to be careful about identity theft

But no-one would pretend to be someone they aren't, so no problem, eh India?

Advicerequest · 16/01/2023 10:30

reading the comments on willoughbys twitter. India has retweeted this comment post today's interview:

" I’m yet to see a discussion on tv about trans folk that doesn’t paint them as a danger to women. The real threat to women are cis men"

and I want to shout - the real threat to women is MEN, not 'cis' men. The 'cis' bit is irrelevant. What's relevant is biological men and particularly biological men with a sexual interest in females whatever gender they choose to describe themselves.

MorvenOfMalvern · 16/01/2023 10:30

bellinisurge · 16/01/2023 09:49

Wow, if Shami Chakrabati is saying it, that sounds like they are softening people up for something.
But this "99% of women are biological women" won't work.
Labour needs to say:
There are a small number of men who are legally women but they are still properly excluded from single sex spaces. We can look at what public money should be spent on third spaces but stay the fuck out of any single sex space for women.

I want that statement on a leaflet.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/01/2023 10:32

I've just been talking about it to DP, I'm sure India expected to be given the last word, but refreshingly not the case.

Yes, the invention of the concept of a section of men who are exempt from safeguarding rules and the normal social conventions is both absurd and dangerous.

Silly women, can't expect them to correctly identify what the threat to them is, can we? Even when one of that class kills a woman twice a week, they can't possibly understand who's doing it!

Is Willoughby being deliberately brought on now to show the lack of foundations to the discussion points and the dishonesty of some of the points? Willoughby is out there on twitter telling everyone that males on oestrogen are the same as females after 2 years. And this is Willoughby who dishonestly calls themselves a 'female'.

Not only that, they have been shown to display male aggression and force people to kiss them on TV, tweets abhorrent tweets, yet is still booked to come onto media.

If I were Willoughby, I would be suspicious.

I seem to remember Willoughby saying their work had dried up. They probably need the money. And yes, they never stuck to facts, just daft hyperbole. Definitely good value to have them on tv.

Well, according to the analysis of the census, men who say they are women are more of a threat to women than men who don't, not less.

And the prison stats speak for themselves.

All these points are eminently refutable. Fortunate to have someone like Willoughby to set it all up.

MuffytheWooWooSlayer · 16/01/2023 10:51

Just catching up on this. My summary: reasoned grown-up setting out facts vs. passport waiving sophist with zero grasp of legal nuance.

Thanks, IW. You're really helping a nation of fence sitters turn GC. 👌🏻

InterestingUsernameTBC · 16/01/2023 11:03

Yes, the invention of the concept of a section of men who are exempt from safeguarding rules and the normal social conventions is both absurd and dangerous.

Don't forget as well that this section of men is self-selecting. A self-selected section of men who are exempt from safeguarding. Nope, can't see any issue with that whatsoever.

Birdsweepsin · 16/01/2023 11:06

They should have interviewed India Willoughby's cervix

DysonSpheres · 16/01/2023 11:07

Gcfemale · 16/01/2023 07:53

I'm pretty sure I heard IW saying 'no one apart from trans people know what it's like to be trans' which I accept, but I find this to be at odds with people who are not female claiming that they know what it is to be female.

Indeed. Apt observation succinctly put. Borrowing. Fibromyalgia brain and I always get tongued tied when challenged this is simple and easy to remember. Thanks.

Just caught the end of an interview with Jonathan Reynolds, Labour MP on Sky News. He said Labours position was to keep single sex spaces in line with the Equality Act. That's the clearest I've heard a Labour MP speak on this issue. He definitely said single sex rather than safe spaces.

Kier Starmer said this too a while back, but when asked if single sex spaces for women include men who have had a sex change or GRC, I believe he said “yes, because they are women” 🙄🤬

Labour are fudging their position, and I have some sympathy for that, it’s politics after all.

What I want to know, and it is literally the only thing tempting me to vote for Sunak (and I voted for Corbyn!), is: what would Starmer DO? Will he keep up the excellent steps taken by Sunak’s government on this, and follow the recommendations of the Cass report? Will he refuse to allow self-ID, and get men (particularly rapists) out of women’s prisons and sports? Will he fight the brainwashing and sexualisation of children in schools and stop “LGBTQ+ support” charities and school groups putting adult men in touch with teenage boys who they sexually pressure and exploit?

The Tories are shit and have broken Britain but that doesn’t mean I’m going to wave through someone who might be worse. Sunak is dumb but I fear Starmer may be dumber. I need him to stop fudging and show me what he believes and what issues he’s fighting for. If he doesn’t care enough about women’s rights to say so, maybe that’s my answer 😔

beastlyslumber · 16/01/2023 11:09

ArabellaScott · 16/01/2023 09:58

How about the humiliation of women having to describe and spell out the reasons why they don't want to share spaces with males?

I never wanted to describe the biological issues involved in using certain spaces, or the reasons I or others may want a single sex space. I never wanted to recount or revisit abuse, assault, trauma. Many religious women have no desire to expose themselves to racist judgement by discussing their personally held beliefs.

Why doesn't women's dignity count for fucking anything?

Quite.

bellinisurge · 16/01/2023 11:10

Watched it on ITVx . Thank the Goddess that Helen is Irish and can get in the Limerick Prison outrage whenever India W comes out with the "it never happens" bullshit.

bellinisurge · 16/01/2023 11:16

Labour think they can fudge the TWAW bit with their 99% of women are biological women line. But it's not going to work. It will be their undoing.
It doesn't mean that GC people will vote Tory, it means GC people will stay away at the next election. Labour needs to get the vote out to overturn the massive Tory majority. If people don't get out and vote Labour, they will not overturn enough seats.
