At some point after 2pm, in the Big Room (the Chamber).

www.parliament.scot/chamber-and-committees/whats-on-and-watch-live/whats-on#wm

Will be interesting to see how the Amendments go down, if they are all struck down as the ScotGov wishes - www.holyrood.com/news/view,gender-recognition-reform-crunch-vote-after-shona-robison-warns-msps-over-amendments

'the Scottish Conservatives have warned that the debate could lead to a "travesty of democracy" because a 15 minute time limit for each proposal will "shut down" discussion.'

'huge amounts of inconsistences in law and socially how we recognise young people'

voting rights, yet not afforded same rights/repercussions

Hmm. It is a wider debate, Jamie. Save the trans-age discussion for another day.

Graham Simpson - Asking about uamendment re guidance that a young applicant must seek before obtaining a GRC.

Must have discussed with someone whose role is giving guidance and support w a young person.

So fucking vague! This could be bloody anybody!

'with the benefit of time I might have added to this' - discusisng whether this 'someone' should be a doctor.

Trying to draft amendments on a mobile phone with no time is 'not ideal' [- no shit]

Rachel Hamilton asking re gender dysphoria diagnosis - those who woudl previously be turned down on a diagnosis would now be able to apply for one.

Jamie Green - there are certain individuals who are problematic, we are going to discuss in next group (of amendments) - further safeguards around a specific cohort of people

Jackie Baillie - thanking the usual list of organisations (stonewall, etc)

Amendment 105 - safeguards to ensure 16 &17 yos significant decision

concern someone aged 15/5 can start process to obtain GRC on 16th birthday.

[wait til you hear Maggie Chapman's ideas, Jackie!]

Jeremy Balfour - in a lovely green and purple lanyard.

OP posts:

Asking if GRC confers new rights

OP posts:
ArabellaScott · 20/12/2022 16:23

Maggie Chapman. Guess what colour her lanyard is?

Extendig GRC to 16/17 yos brings into line with international law.

YP can get married, join army, and vote. We trust them to make big life decisions. I don't see why this si different.

Fucking Maggie chapman. 'Absolutely the right thing to do to allow 16 year olds to change their legal gender, brings us in line with international good practice

ArabellaScott · 20/12/2022 16:24

MC - not having a birth cert could cause problems when applying for uni

Vehement opposition to reflection periods, waiting periods

Time periods means we go against in ternational best practise

No justification for waiting times

OP posts:
BlessedKali · 20/12/2022 16:25

Keeps referring to 'international best practice'

Whereareyourshoes · 20/12/2022 16:25

Maggie Chapman pretending that she cares at all about evidence.

ArabellaScott · 20/12/2022 16:25

MC - Changing gender not something one does on a whim

Let us believe young peopel when they tell us they nknow their own minds, let's not pathologise them

OP posts:
FusilliFettler · 20/12/2022 16:25

Is that the good practice written by WPATH and Susie Green?

ArabellaScott · 20/12/2022 16:26

Alex Cole-Hamilton - 'we are 7 years behind Ireland'

ArabellaScott · 20/12/2022 16:27

ACH - parliament has grapped with age of majority since inception - we've started to see a natural coalescense of 16 as age of majority - we're on a never ending journey [feels like it]

He looks like he is acting

Zerogravity · 20/12/2022 16:29

Why the push for 16?

ArabellaScott · 20/12/2022 16:29

He's pretty waffly. 'real trauma' - 'final decision on your identity is entrusted to strangers you've never met'

I'm sorry for being a little thick here

But is today the day where this terrible bill will be passed in Parliament?

ArabellaScott · 20/12/2022 16:29

Zerogravity · 20/12/2022 16:29
