I'm feeling a bit deflated, to be honest. I'm sure we'll get the conversation up and rolling again in no time, but given the events today, it feels very discombobulating.

Hello people - just caught up on the thread in the Other Place, but haven't read the JTS one yet, off to do that now.

Basically, our mere presence talking about this contentious issue on a tiny segregated corner of another talkboard, made everyone else feel unsafe...

Well, we were members of a talkboard discussing women and girls' sex-based rights on a thread for some time. The topic in general was considered to be hateful so we were corralled there in the name of free speech. Today the site owner decided that discussing the topic at all on the site was so disagreeable to him that he was considering shutting the site down. There was a great deal of feedback on how hateful the topic and posters on this topic are and how valuable the site (minus us) is, so we have decamped here.

I'm here, but I'm pissed off because I was going to start a less generally named thread, so we could identify it more easily, and avoid all the 'who's this, what's it for' palaver. But whatever
