Well, here we are...

Welcome! BrewCake
Can I suggest you take a few moments to read the Mumsnet talk guidelines, including the part at the bottom of the page re sex and gender? We can have sensible discussions here, but it's a good idea to know the rules so you don't inadvertently break them. And also, anti-women troublemakers frequently don't adhere to the guidelines, so while we tend to be light on the Report button so they show themselves up, the most egregious can be shown the door.

crabbyoldbat · 25/11/2022 18:52

Thank you, Errol. We've been labouring under similar guidelines, although the personal attacks rule is probably more strictly applied here.

Why the secrecy?

I think none of us want to name it or the owner because it's so small and we still feel protective of it. At least that's the way I see it.

I agree - why the need to know? What difference will it make? We haven't been thown off (jumped rather than pushed, though), we chose to leave, and many of us will continue there on other topics

Welcome! I don't post on many other places so I'm not aware of this other place. The more the merrier, here. Look out for persistent thread-derailers..

It is genuinely sad that women cannot speak together as women without these horrible accusations. Discussing the impacts of society on female lives and bodies is not transphobic!

In times to come, JK Rowling will be the Oscar Wilde of this era - vilified for being true to herself despite society.

Kucinghitam · 25/11/2022 19:16

Hello all. I've actually been on MN a long time (regular on FWR and Brexit boards) but have NCed to make myself recognisable to the incoming exiles. Good to "see" you all here, and hope to see more of you in the next few days!

StephanieSuperpowers · 25/11/2022 19:20

Yeah, I'm sure once we shake off the horrible feeling from the events of this afternoon and some of the things that have been said, normal service will be resumed.

hello!

ErrolTheDragon · 25/11/2022 19:38

something else to help you settle in here:

www.mumsnet.com/i/acronyms

One acronym that's missing is 'FWR' - that's this board, in the dim and distant past it was called, more accurately 'Feminism and Women's Rights'

ExiledElsie · 25/11/2022 16:53

The thing I find most frustrating is the idea that once we've "gone for" the transgender people we'll carry on with homophobia and are anti gender non conforming people.

It's a stupid accusation because we're almost without fail left wing, I now know more lesbians than before through this issue and we're all gender non conforming.

It's classic DARVO and deflection.

Gender ideology is inherently homophobic. A lesbian is a same sex attracted female. Not a man with a 'gender identity'

It's TRA's telling non conforming teens that they must cause damage to their perfectly healthy bodies in order to 'match' their personality.

Even better than that, at least in the sense of this conversation - I suspect that a day or a week or a month from now it will feel like a relief to be posting here and not being viewed as the thread of hate.

howmanybicycles · 25/11/2022 20:03

Welcome ladies (actual ladies). There are plenty here who have not give into the pressure to see woman as nothing more than people here to serve men's desires and perversions. It's good to have more people here who are not blind to the damage that gender ideology is doing.

Plasticfreefantastic · 25/11/2022 20:09

Hello, all of you.

It’s lovely to see you here. I stopped posting elsewhere because I felt so guilty about my views being constantly being described as vile. I never posted with you as I lacked the courage. I’m sad to see what happened today but I hope you find this a comfortable new home.

BenCoopersSupportWren · 25/11/2022 20:17

Welcome to Prosecco Stormfront! I know not of the other board of which you speak, but always nice to see GC women join the fold.

As Errol says, we have some weird and wonderful rules here which can sometimes be annoyingly opaque, but fair play to MN, they allow us to hold the line on women’s rights and recent events have shown just how many canaries in the coal mine there are here.

VaginaRegina · 25/11/2022 20:22

HelenD here reporting for duty. Lovely to see so many familiar names. MN has been very much my occasional lurking ground, but I suspect that may well change now.

crabbyoldbat · 25/11/2022 20:43

Eyup, VR.

Winterborne74 · 25/11/2022 20:52

Am now really starting to feel the rage, so will have to stop posting elsewhere as it will only make things worse.

Plasticfreefantastic · 25/11/2022 20:53

Also, Kuc, your post made me feel very weepy indeed.

VestofAbsurdity · 25/11/2022 21:05

Have you all decamped here to join in the many discussions on this Board and start some or are you just using this Board to run threads for you to just chat amongst yourselves on?

I opened this thread in the expectation of it being a discussion on the title and am somewhat discombobulated by it not being so and seeming to be a kind of private club set up to discuss issues none of the rest of us are remotely aware of nor how they relate to this Board.

Would be nice to have some clarification.

StephanieSuperpowers · 25/11/2022 21:09

Well I think we're reeling a bit today so maybe just here for today, but I plan to go further too.

Hi all, Melpomene checking in, this was my previous username on GUT so used it on here a while ago.

Today has been very strange. Being told by men what we can't talk about, and how we.camt define ourselves has been , um, a bit distressing after such a long time
I remember when the guardian threw us out, that was a business decision, this feels personal.

murasaki · 25/11/2022 21:13

@VestofAbsurdity , I chat on lots of threads in different sections, i think others do too, I don't believe this is in anyway supposed to be cliquey, just a liferaft, other posters have also been on mn for a while I think.

picklemewalnuts · 25/11/2022 21:13

No reason you can't gather and find your feet here. Hopefully you'll find it a port in the storm. You can always refine your plans once you've settled in.
