@PomegranateOfPersephone I know, it's come from nowhere. I wonder how the word is getting out. I'm concerned it's LGBT, rather than the other one which was gender ideology. It lacks nuance, could be dismissed as homophobic.

That very short and unexplained petition is odd. How's it got so many signatures with barely a whisper about it? The map is almost entirely yellow (though the colours are proportionate to the signatures). If you put the link in Twitter, it's just individuals tweeting it, can't see an organisation "leading" it as such

Yes I am concerned also about the inclusion of the LGB although some teaching content aimed supposedly at the LGB is way too much like sharing inappropriate sexual content with children for example “the dice game”, or the books recommended for children which portray child abuse as if it is normal consensual sexual activity. Not surprising if some parents think that anything LGB is basically teaching children about dangerous sexual practices, kinks and fetishes, and normalisation of child abuse especially if they look at what happens at many pride celebrations now as well as the more dubious providers of LGBT+ education resources and training for schools, the family sex show, drag queen story time, child drag etc

Thanks @ResisterRex that's interesting. I've not signed it, they'll hardly miss me. I envy the engagement they've got but I think, slowly, we'll get there. Some of the TQ+ can be really.....! They do themselves no favours at all and damage everyone associated with them.

Those Birmingham , Muslim, parents had faced extreme, insensitive and inappropriate RSE teaching of their young children in school a couple of years ago.

This petition taking an unacceptably extreme line must be they have just decided they’ve had enough.

Unfortunately their own religion is at odds with the protected characteristics of sexual orientation, (as it is for some Christians) and gender reassignment but I doubt they would have been saying anything if they didn’t feel their children were being indoctrinated.

When ideologies, early sexuality, and separation from their parents are pushed on to young children instead of proportionate, strictly necessary and truly age appropriate information that will support them as they grow up, the parents will feel they have a right to rebel.

In this case I hope the Government will see the feeling behind the message and regard it as the inevitable backlash that it is, rather than take its indefensible extremism too literally and therefore dismiss it altogether out of hand.

Iirc you linked directly to the petition. Sometimes such links are tolerated if they're added in a longish thread, but if they're in the first few posts then the thread will be moved, per MN policy (not sure it's a written rule but it's what happens).
