There's an active petition you can sign to this effect, if you're so inclined.

I just realised that it's been over a month since it hit 10k & we don't have a government response yet... anyone got an idea if that's good or bad?
( Previous petitions that I know of didn't wait so long but maybe just got lucky previously!)

I can't remember how long it's taken on previous petitions. Maybe they don't have a stock brush-off ready.

We’ve written a briefing to explain our thinking, and Maya will explain more about the legal strategy behind our campaign to #MakeTheEqualityActClear.

When you register, you can also submit questions about the legal and policy thinking behind the petition, or about about how to campaign in person, and we will answer them in the webinar.

We will also share details of how to get hold of petition cards to give to people in person.

The Government must exercise its power under s.23 of the Gender Recognition Act to modify the operation of the Equality Act 2010 by specifying the terms sex, male, female, man & woman, in the operation of that law, mean biological sex and not "sex as modified by a Gender Recognition Certificate"
More details
The Equality Act 2010 covers nine separate protected characteristics, including “Sex” & “Gender Reassignment”. This protects people against sex discrimination and discrimination because a person is transgender.
There has been much confusion about how the Equality Act and GRA interact. This has caused uncertainty and conflict for women, transgender people, and service providers. The GRA includes a provision to amend other laws to make it clear whether a GRC changes the definition of sex for that law.

I’ve shared again to one of my hobby WhatsApp groups and five more people have signed, all positive. So many people aren’t aware of this petition.
it’s helpful if you tell people it’s to clarify the law to keep men out of womens wards and prisons and sports. That makes it easier to see the reason for signing.

I’ve got another three people to sign so eight in total from one WhatsApp message to a group, and that’s just the ones who told me they have signed. I’m thrilled at the positive feedback, it started as a conversation at a Christmas lunch so I knew my message would be well received, I’ve also forwarded Sex Matters link to a couple of people. In total I’ve got 11 others to sign the petition and not one negative comment.

Any thoughts about "the other petition" @Sidaway ?

The "clarify" one seems to be going great guns.

I'm just a bit baffled that when s.212 in the Equality Act 2010 explicitly says "“woman” means a female of any age" - and that provides zero protection for women in practice - how making it clear that sex means sex will help judges, service providers and those who need to apply the law in policymaking, to recognise that men aren't women?

The problem stems from people thinking "gender" and "sex" are synonymous, and that 'women' includes men who identify as us. In which case surely the solution is to get rid of this "gender" as a stand-alone characteristic in discrimination law?

Only way to break the circuit of conflation and deception.
