She did, however, mention transmen, people who do actually share anatomy with other women!

Well I think we all know what party consider themselves to be of most importance in this discussion.

Great to see it spelt out so clearly though.

Bless me holy sperm producer, for I have sinned. It has been many times since my last confession that I have seen with my own eyes and thought with my own wicked brain that a transwoman is not a woman. Yes, I believe that transwomen deserve to live their lives free of harassment and in peace and happiness and enjoy the same rights as all other people, but I cannot and will not accept the holy writ of transubstantion that renders a penis female should the penis-holder claim it to be so.

Repent. Motherfucker.

lanadelgrey · 23/08/2022 17:14

Shouldn’t that be f@cker mother ie a bit of trans placement or other it would indeed be possible trans substantiation

LaughingPriest · 23/08/2022 17:20

Can an adult human female be a transwoman?

As someone who is an AHF and more likely than not, "falls under the trans umbrella", I genuinely don't know. People who claim to know more than me refuse to unambiguously answer my questions about what the terms actually mean. So essentially everyone is talking at cross-purposes and no-one is ever quite understanding what everyone else means or engaging on the same level.

This seems to be by design, going by the utter lack of willingness to engage honestly.

These are the breaches of the Gilded Balloon code of conduct I reported.

This staff member did not foster a safe environment.
This staff member was behaving unacceptably, including making derogatory remarks about a person's body
This staff member was intimidating and threatening
This staff member's intimidation was based on race, gender, gender identity, age, and sexual orientation
This staff member did not respect boundaries
This staff member did not respect how people choose to identify
This staff member assumed sexual preference or background background

The Gilded Balloon will hold a liquor licence and an entertainment licence. You could submit a complaint to Edinburgh Council Licensing Committee.

It's not acceptable for theatre goers to be harassed by venue staff for attending an event their employer is facilitating.

DadJoke used to at least try to pretend to be a reasonable poster.

That must have been before my time and I have been here quite some time now.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/08/2022 19:52

I don't think Elaine spoke about transwomen at all in the show

How surprising, that it would be considered offensive for them not to mentioned in a show which has literally nothing to do with them. Can you really not see how that comes across, Dadjoke?

The show description:

50% of women aren't sure which is their vulva and which is their vagina. Elaine Miller, a funny, frank, factual fanny Fellow of Physiotherapy doesn't think that's OK. Learn what's in your pants, what an orgasm is, how tell a clitoris from an elbow and importantly, why on earth nobody told you this stuff before now. Elaine won the Comedy Award at Fringe World, was a vulva on CBeebies, said 'fart' on Woman's Hour, presents on women's health in parliaments and wants to change the world, one fanny at a time. Starting with yours.

Shake it Period Bro shake it.

Shaking it as much as is feasible on a Tuesday night, but not quite sure what a 'whistlin' is or how one goes about getting one.

PeriodBro · 23/08/2022 21:11

Or indeed, if I would even want one.

Literal violence!

Doing my rosary now. How many Hail Mary is that “

PeriodBro · 23/08/2022 22:53

Jesus, I just realised I misspelled transubstantiation.

I'll be right there with you doing the Hail Marys, littl. Let's do seven, one for each sex.

TheClogLady · 23/08/2022 23:14

I misread Dadjoke’s comment as ‘People with Volvos’ and for one glorious moment that was the new working definition of human female in my house.

Until we realised it included Jeremy Clarkson, Sven-Göran Eriksson and King Carl of Sweden.

Oh well. Back to the drawing board.

No one has a problem with shows about vulvas and vaginas - the headline is wrong.

The issue is that she is gender critical / transphobic.

I notice you’ve kept quiet about Jen Ives, also at Edinburgh who received transphobic abuse, and bunch of transphobes booked out the front row and sat in silence with their arms crossed.

Helleofabore · 24/08/2022 04:06

No one has a problem with shows about vulvas and vaginas - the headline is wrong.

This is not just a ‘show’.

She actively engages with providing communication about female anatomy and health issues and how those can be fixed.

Something many females will not know about or are uncomfortable discussing.

Didn’t I see that Ives was a line in their promotion ‘And how long can Jen get away with taking maternity leave from work?’ ? Like that is centring females and their needs. Do you know how many of us have been terminated from our jobs while pregnant or on maternity leave?

And Ives uses this as a throw away line for comedy?

The issue is that she is gender critical / transphobic.

You have really shown your deep and abiding prejudice here. I mean, regular readers already know this about your posts.

So being gender critical is transphobic, eh? And deserving of abuse and loss of livelihood.

I notice you’ve kept quiet about Jen Ives, also at Edinburgh who received transphobic abuse, and bunch of transphobes booked out the front row and sat in silence with their arms crossed.

What transphobic abuse has Ives received? Please link it up.

Or are you talking about the time Ives, a transitioned male complained of transphobic abuse because a neurodiverse young man noticed and was upset that Ives used the female single sex toilet at an event where it was clearly noted that toilets were for single sex use only?

And Ives used the toilets to make a fuss, intimidate females using the toilet and deliver headlines?

So, link up the evidence that this was an organised protest by feminists please.

And if it is not feminists, why is it relevant to us? Why should we be derailing a thread to discuss a transitioned male comedian who may not even be funny? Because dadjoke told us to?

yeah. Hilarious.
