Obviously written together, too. A good start. I can’t see Johnson resigning unless, well, I can’t. He’ll have have to be sacked. Can they do that?

he can't be sacked as they have to wait a year before another vote of confidence. He must resign.

achillestoes · 05/07/2022 18:15

If his hat isn’t in the ring I’m going to his house to get it and throw it in.

Yes! Javid as PM might possibly make me cast my first-ever vote for the Tories.

PearlClutch · 05/07/2022 18:57

wellhelloitsme · 05/07/2022 18:19

Holy shit I wonder who is next, this is huge. Potentially more to come as this was so synchronised timing wise.

Pleased people in such positions aren't blindly supporting BJ but then also scared they'll replaced by people who do...

And realistically if BJ goes, who are we going to get in his place?

I mean I swing from anyone is better to fuck, Rees-Mogg exists.

Confused
Zone2NorthLondon · 05/07/2022 18:58

Good riddance to him and Rushi. Both are complicit enablers who ignore, over look and minimise the absolute disaster the govt is under BJ
presumably they hope to distance themselves and come back or try to be Party leader
I anticipate another scandal must be imminent , certainly there are rumours of SuperInjunctions
alleged affairs
alleged pregnancy
alleged intimacy with BJ and Carrie being interrupted in flagrante delicto

Provenceinthesummer · 05/07/2022 18:58

I honestly think there is more chance of Labour losing their leader in the next 24 hours tbh

Zone2NorthLondon · 05/07/2022 19:00

BJ will not step down,I anticipate he’ll call and probably win a snap election

theotherfossilsister · 05/07/2022 19:00

Is anyone else finding this quite exciting? I really want Boris to go.

Notjustabrunette · 05/07/2022 19:01

Johnson is a bad man. He repeatedly cheated on his wife and family, thinks it’s perfectly acceptable to lie, doesn’t think rules apply to him, is self serving etc etc etc. I think your bar is set low OP if you don’t think he’s a bad man.

Porcupineintherough · 05/07/2022 19:01

GerryAtrick · 05/07/2022 18:38

Out the frying pan into the fire.

Wake up! This is the fucking fire.

GoodJanetBadJanet · 05/07/2022 19:02

Get in.
All of them next please!

Does Rory Stewart have friends in the cabinet?

He's bright, and articulate and had enough principles to leave when they voted Boris in.

I'd like to see him back on the books.

Frankly I'd like Rory to be PM after listening to The Rest Is Politics. Thoroughly decent.

Iamacatslave · 05/07/2022 19:03

@achillestoes she was at Oxford and you’re right, she’s in no way an idiot.

achillestoes · 05/07/2022 19:03

@Notjustabrunette

Maybe. My bar is set somewhere near ‘doesn’t let children elect unnecessary, irreversible and damaging surgeries’ at the moment.

@Iamacatslave

My mistake. She’s certainly not stupid. I think people just see blonde hair and lose their minds sometimes.

Dh hung out with Rory somewhere and thought he was excellent. Dh is a Lib Dem/ Labour/ occasional green voter

@user1471504747

People have their own perceptions. I don’t think Johnson is a misogynist or a racist. A lech and a lazy drunk, possibly. But anyway, let’s agree on one thing: the fat lady is singing.

I genuinely think he's a sociopath.

That's not hyperbole, I really think he is.

So until he's forced out he won't go, IMO.

Because he doesn't feel shame or embarrassment. He can't. He doesn't experience those feelings so they can't affect his behaviour.

He should be absolutely dreading PMQ tomorrow, he should be terrified it's a judgement day for him. But he won't be. He'll be confident he can bluster his way out of it.

And he's done so successfully (unfathomably to me) repeatedly, even when called out on proven lies. Maybe this time he finally won't get away with it.

3luckystars · 05/07/2022 19:05

She’s an anti abortion campaigner isn’t she? That isn’t good for women and girls.

No she isn't.

PearlClutch · 05/07/2022 19:06

The Times had a survey/poll on who was favourite for next PM a couple of days back. This'll be why, I suppose.

Artichokeleaves · 05/07/2022 18:33

Becoming more and more convinced Javid is a sensible man.

Johnson needs to go. Hopefully this will topple him.

Unfortunately I think he is too pig headed to go without force

Zone2NorthLondon · 05/07/2022 19:07

No, BJ is not sociopathic in any way. He’s opportunistic and a grifter. No ideological basis underpinning his actions just bluster. His MO is bluster and diversion and tbh it’s served him well. He is never adequate held to account and seems to get away with most things.

GoodJanetBadJanet · 05/07/2022 19:07

Seriously? If we do have an election, I really don't think they'll win.
Have seen people in RL waking up a bit after so called party gate and all his lying.

PearlClutch · 05/07/2022 19:07

Because he doesn't feel shame or embarrassment. He can't. He doesn't experience those feelings so they can't affect his behaviour.

Yes, I agree he seems to have some sociopathic traits. I wonder if they are inborn or developed? I think many/most politicians either have these traits already or develop them; perhaps as a necessity.

Agree, I'm a natural labour voter - or, I was. I can't vote for them while they refuse to see me as a woman, though.

Rory Stewart has been interesting and I suspect he didn't get elected because he is decent. If the party want to rebuild itself then they need someone with credibility - that's not Gove, JRM or Truss.

Wallace - handy if there's about to be a war. Sunak - him and his wife understand Russia and economics for sure and they are a very beautiful couple (I know it shouldn't count, but a polished and accomplished pair like that are very media friendly).

Ruth Davidson turned things around in Scotland - wonder if she'd hang up her ermine to have a go just to piss off Nicola Sturgeon?
