Yes I am serious, I anticipate a snap election and he’ll win
BJ will hammer into the unions and public sector, instigate a hysteria about strikes etc. He was the BBC cowed and a huge right wing media presence

Gove was looking very thoughtful this morning. Is he the next?

As long as he's not next PM 😒

MarshaBradyo · 05/07/2022 19:10

mrshoho · 05/07/2022 18:57

Obviously written together, too. A good start. I can’t see Johnson resigning unless, well, I can’t. He’ll have have to be sacked. Can they do that?

he can't be sacked as they have to wait a year before another vote of confidence. He must resign.

The rules can be changed by the committee

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/07/2022 19:10

If we do have an election, I really don't think they'll win

Don't be too sure; they'd certainly lose some seats, but that 80 majority won't be easy to overturn completely - especially when the opposition are hardly appealing either

Tabitha005 · 05/07/2022 19:10

I've seen her interviewed enough times to feel she spouts a good deal of utterly nonsensical stuff that just tumbles out of her mouth like so much word salad. None of it has any real meaning or value and I never get the impression she at all knowledgeable of her subject or topics.

She also said Brexit wouldn't have any impact in Ireland which is just dumb. It's like she'd never even heard of the Good Friday Agreement.

cansu · 05/07/2022 19:11

Sajid Javid would make an appalling PM. He is nothing but an opportunist.

RosaGallica · 05/07/2022 19:11

My response to Javid resigning was 'what, again'?
With Sunak going as well this is clearly internal power politics at play.
They do not care about trust and honesty etc any more than the next financiers. Don't kid yourselves that they do. They could very easily have gone before over Johnson's lies, or never joined him in the first place. There's been enough of them.

Dancingwithhyenas · 05/07/2022 19:11

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 05/07/2022 18:15

It's taken them a fucking long time to find their backbones...

Yep. Only care about ethics when they think they will win a leadership bid. Disgusting.

Good riddance to him and Rushi. Both are complicit enablers who ignore, over look and minimise the absolute disaster the govt is under BJ
presumably they hope to distance themselves and come back or try to be Party leader
I anticipate another scandal must be imminent , certainly there are rumours of SuperInjunctions
alleged affairs
alleged pregnancy
alleged intimacy with BJ and Carrie being interrupted in flagrante delicto

Is that with the alleged Russian violinist? Wonder where she and the alleged baby are? Bet they are nowhere that Putin could get hold of them. I hope.

bossyrossy · 05/07/2022 19:14

I might be tempted to vote Tory for the first time if Rory Stewart was leader of the Conservatives but I can never understand why he is a Conservative, he is far too intelligent to be a Tory.

Eeksteek · 05/07/2022 19:14

PearlClutch · 05/07/2022 19:07

Because he doesn't feel shame or embarrassment. He can't. He doesn't experience those feelings so they can't affect his behaviour.

Yes, I agree he seems to have some sociopathic traits. I wonder if they are inborn or developed? I think many/most politicians either have these traits already or develop them; perhaps as a necessity.

I think rich privileged people develop them, honestly. I mean, how could you not?

but the callousness and indifference to anyone else’s welfare of BJ is special.

he won’t resign. He’ll install some sycophants and carry on as usual. He doesn’t care enough about anyone but himself to do something he doesn’t want to do for anyone else. And he wants to be PM. If no one can stop him, then that’s what he’ll do. He has no shits to give.

Is anyone else finding this quite exciting? I really want Boris to go.

Yes me. Schadenfreude.

Provenceinthesummer · 05/07/2022 19:14

I agree Boris will call a snap election - he is sick to death of the small but vocal remoaners undermining him. Right now he still has the brexiteers in the country whom fear brexit will be taken away of all colours, loyal conservatives and those that can not imagine voting for Labour in this life time, due to a lack of policies and any direction whatsoever.

Boris stands a very good chance of winning - and he has fuck all to lose now.

achillestoes · 05/07/2022 19:17

An election would be a massive gamble, but I wouldn’t put it past him.

There's no constitutional reason as such why they have to wait a year. It would be easy enough for the 1922 Committee to change the rules, and apparently they are under pressure to do so. Even more so now as it's looking like Johnson can no longer rely on all his cabinet members to support him en masse.

Zone2NorthLondon · 05/07/2022 19:19

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria
the alleged pregnancy is not with the musician. no idea what happened to her
the alleged pregnancy is with another woman now reported to have departed the UK
The interrupted intimacy was prior to BJ and Carrie getting married

PearlClutch · 05/07/2022 19:19

A snap election ... yes, I think you're right. He'll do it for the laugh if nothing else.

PearlClutch · 05/07/2022 19:20

Mind you; given the months to come, recession, strikes, unrest, etc, possibly more covid, Russia, etc - if it was me, Boris, I'd take the lucrative after-dinner speeches on how you battled covid and fucking run for it. I can't actually imagine wanting to be PM over the next few years.

Zone2NorthLondon · 05/07/2022 19:20

I do not think Labour Party are ready , Keir lacks chutzpah and doesn’t broadly appeal to voters. He’s undoubtedly smart, articulate but never really lands a killer blow or get animated about BJ

PearlClutch · 05/07/2022 19:21

Labour party are absolutely determined to cling bravely onto the position of eternal opposition. They wouldn't know what to do with a government if it bit them.

Bloodyel · 05/07/2022 19:22

Honestly get the Scottish government to scrap their daft gender bollocks and have them run the entire country. I say that as an English person

achillestoes · 05/07/2022 19:23

@Zone2NorthLondon

It’s telling how little focus there is on Starmer. Nobody really cares what he says or doesn’t say.

Me either

I think he could easily be in stuff it more

But I do wonder if the party can take him out before if so

Well that won’t count for much if he calls a GE

No thanks - Sturgeon has become a dictator
