Just seen how this is being reported (in The Independent).
Why do they report it like this? Imagine if the headlines said Bette tweets what most women are thinking but too afraid to say in public? Macy shows support for biology, fact and common sense?

Ffs. I was so happy to see the support flooding in last night and now I'm downright mad all over again.

Being a bit out of the loop, I had to search online for Bette Midler to get more of an idea who she is- and found the related news boxes just a tad encouraging, compared to what I would have expected a year or so ago- note the scare quotes around "demonizing." Hopefully lots of people will be curious enough to check out what's getting called "demonization."

I've looked in to whether bette has spoken before. Notvreally but she got into trouble for misgendering catling jenner in 2016. Some on twitter have not forgotten and didn't think her apology at the time was good enough.

She obviously stepped into it not realising that social mores had changed and some male ppl cannot be referred to as male.

iw blocked me last night about 10 minutes after I commented a supportive comment and like to Macy. iw must be fulltime 24/7 on twitter patrol. No wonder iw has no time for a real career.

If the LGBTQ+ movement followed this idea on inclusive language they wouldn’t be able to describe a group at all -

Penis havers who have sex with penis havers, vagina havers who have sex with vagina havers, people who don’t like what was put on their birth certificate, anyone who finds romantic narratives unsatisfying and anyone else who doesn’t like the mainstream or feels a bit picked on.

Jezebel has an article up saying that Bette midler is “transphobic” and has literally just quoted her tweet. So a woman saying “women unite , they are erasing our name” is a transphobe , apparently. Everything women say and so is bigoted.
