That's a shame. One day there might be a cure for heterosexuality but we're not there yet.

I'm not heterosexual.

I want absolutely no part of any 'tribe' that involves suggesting heterosexuality needs to be 'cured', though.

To be clear. You're telling a woman her sexuality needs to be 'cured'. On a feminist forum.

Nice.

@Hearach15 well I’m not heterosexual and I don’t identify as part of the “rainbow tribe”, thanks. Years ago my (female) partner and I were enthusiastic about Pride, rainbow flag etc. Now I’ve given away any rainbow items as I feel so alienated from what it’s all become - kink, men dressed up as caricatures pretending to be something they’re not, lesbians being gaslit and bullied into gender ideology, the death of serious feminism. It’s a men’s sexual rights and kink movement railroading over women and girls - plus it’s reactionary, capitalist, pro-cosmetic surgery, neo-colonialist, pro-establishment, authoritarian, individualistic, selfish and innately right wing. It masquerades as progressive whilst really being anything but.

Not my “tribe”, thanks. Tribalism is reactionary and politically atavistic.

Hear, hear.

Do these posters actually understand that they are the totalitarian ones?

That they are seeking to silence groups and individuals and retreat to their 'safe' spaces. Are these the posters who support 'blocklists'? Like the latest publishing 'blocklist' that will block any person who can be accused of wrong think?

Do you think it actually sinks in the extreme hypocrisy of their position and their actions?

Sadly, I don't think that it does.

I think that that US pollster, Frank Luntz was spot on. There is a group of young people who simply cannot tolerate an opinion that doesn't match their own and they feel they are righteous in silencing anyone who they don't agree with. We are seeing this right here on this very thread.

The LGB Alliance calling for gay venues to be shut down is VERY funny because they are not a group that advocates for gay interests.

They were set up to campaign against trans rights and occasionally like to excuse homophobia e.g. when they said it wasn't homophobic to be against gay marriage: www.pinknews.co.uk/2020/06/19/lgb-alliance-same-sex-marriage-twitter-transgender-homophobia-owen-jones-baclash/

Glad they are being shown up for who they really are.

What's even funnier is that they didn't.
But, no reason to let the facts get in your way

Going back to Malcolm's comments at the Scottish Parliament yesterday, he was talking about "when gay rights were introduced". Was he talking about the decriminalisation of homosexuality, the equalisation of the age of consent, Equality Act protections or what? Because using statistics about the change in the proportions of society who are gay and lesbian over the last 5 years doesn't refute his point about the effect of legal changes more than 40 or 20 years ago, if those are the ones he was talking about.

He did not mention a time period.

You could say gay rights were achieved in 1980 when sex between men was decriminalised in Scotland - frankly, I'm sure plenty of LGB Alliance supporters would have left it there.

Or you could say it was 2014 when marriage equality was achieved.

Either way, whether there have been big increases in the number of gay people in every generation.

"Research by Ipsos Mori found that 66 per cent of young people, aged between 16 and 22, are "exclusively heterosexual" - the lowest figure of any generation.
Among millennials, 71 per cent say they are exclusively heterosexual, as do 85 per cent of those in "Gen X", and 88 per cent of baby boomers."

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/07/05/two-thirds-generation-z-identify-exclusively-heterosexual/

Whatever way you spin this, the baby boomers grew up in a time when there were less gay rights (i.e. it was banned).

Now we have rights (I think we can all agree) and there are so many more people in Gen Z who are LGBT.

He is either badly informed or lied to the Scottish Parliament. He should be banned from giving evidence to any legislature ever again. That is the only way to tackle misinformation.

MagnoliaTaint · 01/06/2022 17:05

Oh, I see. You were making a 'joke' about 'curing' women's sexuality. Like builders do when they threaten corrective rape?

Amazing.

Helleofabore · 01/06/2022 15:00

Now what evidence do you have that the LGB Alliance represent more than a few oddballs in the community?

You really don't get it do you?

If it was 'just a few oddballs in the community', why have you expended so much effort to discredit them?

What are you scared of?

And why does it matter how many or how few people support them? And what about the international groups that are part of the umbrella? Still confident it is a 'few oddballs in the community'?

Do you seriously not understand that you have done all this because an alternative political lobby group and support group is simply by giving people a choice and you have felt so threatened by it? By alternative thoughts?

Do you seriously not understand that you actually seem to have absolutely fuck all in the way of evidence to support you own incredibly prejudiced thinking?

I enjoy debating!

That is the only way to tackle misinformation.

The supreme confidence oozing through on your own misinformation.

Keep posting stats. You continue to ignore the fact you are attempting to compare figures that cannot be compared.

That takes some doing….

Pity about all the other fails littered amongst posts on this thread.

Including joking about conversion therapy. Nice…. Right side of history, yeah?

Okay, please post stats that prove that the % of gay people has not increased since gay rights were legislated for.

If Mr Clark is right this should be easy to do.

Artichokeleaves · 01/06/2022 17:25

Bloody hell the utter intolerance and arrogance.

No, that's not bantz. That's just vile. If I mentioned other groups with these similar kind of totalitarian, dismissively dehumanising, prejudiced views towards others I'd be deleted.

The onus is always on the one making the claim. You have yet to substantiate it with valid evidence.

Mr Clark made the claim. I have provided multiple links to established media sources that prove he misspoke.

If you believe he is correct you are perfectly entitled to prove me wrong with evidence of your own.

I'm happy to wait.

I won't engage with someone that 'jokes' about curative rape. There have been women on these boards who've experienced that shit. It's not on.

How can you even talk about gay rights?? To you, two men engaged in fellatio can constitute lesbian sex. Or a married father of five, can be heterosexual yesterday, and a lesbian tomorrow.

It's risible nonsense.

I'm very proud to support trans rights as I am privileged to know some wonderful trans people!

Some of them are gay as well 🏳️‍🌈
