Emma Watson's dig at JKR

It appears she said at the BAFTAs 'I am here for all of the witches... bar one'

Disappointing but not unexpected.

she can't imagine herself in a position where she'll ever be negatively impacted by them.

Like 99% of the population tbf.

LondonWolf · 15/03/2022 19:28

@BoredZelda

She always overperforms. As Hermione she would over-elocute. I thought it was a child actor thing (Daniel Radcliffe did it too) but she never grew out of it. She overpronounces words and overexaggerates facial expressions

Yes, let’s to continue to pick her apart for her skill in doing something most people wouldn’t even know where to begin with, because we don’t like what she (didn’t say) about JKR.

Oh, I get it, we are supposed to pretend she's good?

So much of life is about pretending now isn't it? I really think we are going to see huge swathes of total mental breakdowns in the not to distant future. All those youngsters trying so desperately to deny reality - female penises for example - and not being able to be as perfect as social justice demands they should be. The mind can't support it forever without breaking down.

Fieldofgreycorn · 15/03/2022 19:32

Men are centred even within trans issues, transmen do not receive attention as they are females and still second class compared with men. Transmen...know your place (behind males).

Whenever trans men are mentioned the GC narrative immediately goes ‘trans men are not a threat to women we’re not talking about them!’ GC feminists won’t tolerate anyone talking about them!

EeeICouldRipATissue · 15/03/2022 19:38

If she wasn't trying to please anyone, she wouldn't have made such a snidey comment

She said she supports all witches in a comment directed at her.
So what?
Should she have just stayed quiet instead?

Oh right, so fuck the women in prisons, the women in refuges, the women in hospital? They don't matter no?

Also, I doubt Emma Watson will ever use a communal changing room at her local leisure centre will she?

She clearly said 'but one' or 'bar one' afterwards? Who is the 'one' she is talking about? Who could she possibly be singling out? Are you going to pretend you don't know?

It's extremely annoying.

There is no such verb or act as to "overexaggerate!"

Any road up, without JK Rowling, Emmione Whatsit would have ended up in some horrible job.

Example:

gluteustothemaximus · 15/03/2022 19:44

I thought she was a terrible actress before the comments.

Now I think she's a terrible actress and anti women.

EeeICouldRipATissue · 15/03/2022 19:45

Her name's Emma Watson.
Also this whole '' how dare you be so disrespectful to the person who made you, you little brat, you'd be nothing stuck in a crappy job without her! '' posts are a baffling take.
We're supposed to be forever indebted to our former bosses now, are we?!
Fuck that noise

BlindGirlMcSqueaky · 15/03/2022 19:47

You'd all be bum licking her if she had the same opinion as you.

If it's that or sitting watching her "acting" for 90 minutes,,, bend over Em 😑
BlindGirlMcSqueaky · 15/03/2022 19:52

Yeah, yeah. You pick and choose which women to obsess about and which to drag through the mud based on whether they buy into your personal philosophy.

That's a separate matter and unrelated to her opinions on anything.

Like I said, have the the ovaries to come out and state your positions, like her 'former boss' has (and to be fair, Emma Watson is still making money off Harry Potter and agreed to be in the reunion to raise her profile, which makes JK still her boss really) rather than hide behind cryptic 'what does she actually mean' remarks.
Fieldofgreycorn · 15/03/2022 19:56

Of course they matter. I bet 99% of women in prison or hospital etc have never come across a trans woman there. Recently a woman incorrectly thought there was a TW in a hospital ward and it wasn’t even a TW.

The irony! The entire Internet is obsessed with dragging JK Rowling through the mud!
EeeICouldRipATissue · 15/03/2022 19:57

She said she stands for all women.
She's made herself perfectly clear there.
Not sure exactly what people still aren't getting?

Not crappy soundbites like 'I'm here for all the witches'.

Explain why she thinks its OK for any man to be able to self identify as a woman?

Explain why she thinks its OK for children to be injected with powerful drugs which will, at best, affect their brain development and the growth of their bones.

Explain why she thinks that male rapists should be housed in female prisons if that's where they feel like they want to go.

That kind of thing.

Well The Evening Standard thinks it was a dig at JK Rowling.

Ugh, I remember that thread.

ImAvingOops · 15/03/2022 20:03

There are plenty of actresses I think are really fucking annoying on a personal level and whose opinions I disagree with, but I still acknowledge that they are excellent at their job (Meryl Streep, Emma Thompson for ex). So I don't entirely buy into the opinion that EW would be getting her arse licked if she agreed with JKR. Posters would acknowledge her bravery in being willing to swim against the tide even though it would cost her. EW may genuinely believe what she says, but it's easy to express an opinion that will get you acceptance and insulate you from criticism - there's no bravery there.

KimikosNightmare · 15/03/2022 20:04

The Independent, The Daily Mail, The Mirror and Pink News are all reporting it as a snub to JKR.

BoredZelda · 15/03/2022 20:05

Oh, I get it, we are supposed to pretend she's good?

No, we’re supposed to be adult enough to be able to separate our opinion on a person’s abilities from our views about a subject that has nothing to do with what they do for a living.

You'd all be bum licking her if she had the same opinion as you.

Exactly.
