Please sign into CSP and look at the new iCSP discussion "Stonewall and the CSP"

A great thread beginning and agreement that stonewall are problematic and women's rights are being overlapped by male rights

Then a HUGE ESSAY by a TRA

Sad

Anonymous goes on about white supremacists but misses the point that most TRAs are white men!

Calyx72 · 26/07/2022 21:28

I completely disagree with the CSP taking sides in this political debate (including taking a stance on trans / sport)

They need to be non-political and just go back to being professional.

Miller has replied on th iCSP thread. She says, ina round about way, that Kirrin Medcalf isn’t fit for purpose.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 27/07/2022 08:20

Yes, Clayx. If they “take a stance” then the focus is not on patients.

I am able to work with both a TW who plays sport and a woman who sustained a SCI in a right match with a TW - because I am professional and able to keep my personal opinion out of it. If CSP “take a position” on TW in sport then does that compromise my professional scopr when working wirh these hypothetical patients?

This is exactly how I view this dilemma. The CSP should not 'take a stance' on trans women entering female sport categories. They should support women and trans identifying people with physiotherapy professional issues and not become polarised one way or the other.

The point is well made though.

The Kirrin Medcalf of Stonewall infamy fame?

I'm so sad that I can't see this thread.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 27/07/2022 11:25

I’ll try and do screenshots @EmbarrassingHadrosaurus . 7 subscribers to the thread, maybe those are people who are not also on this thread?

Half an hour til Allison’s judgement. I’ve got a nervy belly.

@stealtheatingtunnocks Thank you - those are eye-opening and very helpful.

Won against her employer but not against Stonewall themselves- employer guilty of discrimination using Stonewall advice so hard to see why she didn't win against Stonewall themselves

"6/ Organisations who put ‘Stonewall Law’ before Equality Law or seek to silence others from lawfully voicing their criticism of Stonewall may be acting unlawfully & will suffer the consequences, even if Stonewall does not.

#StonewallOut"

Allison on Twitter in that thread.

So here's hoping Stonewall are soon removed from CSP & NHS payrolls

like, @Calyx72 deleting a post by a member of a union/guverning body who wants to discuss the body’s relationship with an organisation which has misrepresented stuff to universities and has no expertise?

interestkng.

Calyx72 · 27/07/2022 13:42

I'm writing another post on it to that effect just now

"“Organisations who put ‘Stonewall Law’ before Equality Law or seek to silence others from lawfully voicing their criticism of Stonewall may be acting unlawfully & will suffer the consequences, even if Stonewall does not”

Allison Bailey on Twitter today following her succeeding in her case against her employer.

Silencing discussion / concerns about Stonewall’s influence is exactly what happened on the previous thread, citing ‘transphobia’ - see message in my original post.

Will the CSP now rethink and allow respectful and professional discussion on these issues even if trans or gender nonconforming individuals or groups are unhappy or hurt because gender critical people are being allowed to speak their thoughts and concerns?
Would the CSP consider NOT becoming involved with political lobbying on behalf of one marginalised group over any other? As we are supposed to be impartial, to treat everyone with equal dignity and respect, to keep our personal opinions to ourselves and so on. "

8 people watching that thread, @Calyx72

5 of them liking the posts.

None of them disliking the posts.

None of them commenting.

I wonder what the usual engagement is on iCSP?

RadFizz · 27/07/2022 18:25

That's encouraging. Though the comments on the page with the council statement disagree with the GC poster.

Rightsraptor · 27/07/2022 19:11

In the screenshot posted earlier today, the writer claims Allison Bailey is a QC (unless I misread it). I'm sure she's not. Small point in the scheme of things but details need to be correct else we'll be pilloried by certain people.

There is quite an essay from a self-proclaimed feminist man on the statement page now. Comes out with the old trope of "why don't you want trans women in changing rooms, do you want to ban lesbians too?" Which completely misses the point that lesbians don't usually harass or assault women - men do!

Calyx72 · 28/07/2022 09:43

I haven't subscribed to that one as I didn't get an email - thanks for the heads up @RadFizz will subscribe

OP posts:
RadFizz · 28/07/2022 10:48

This is SO patronising: "You refer to changing rooms, what is the concern? If you are concerned with a transwomen being present because they might make sexual advances or worse, are you also concerned that a lesbian may be in the same space too? Do you see the point? You are confusing gender identity and sexual orientation."

And naturally he ends it with "whilst I disagree with your points so far, I am a feminist and in no way want to take away from the struggles women have..."

Reminds me of this cartoon
