Please sign into CSP and look at the new iCSP discussion "Stonewall and the CSP"

A great thread beginning and agreement that stonewall are problematic and women's rights are being overlapped by male rights

Then a HUGE ESSAY by a TRA

Sad

I decided to email Elaine and got a lovely reply. Mentioned RM & said they had a big discussion last year which she felt positive about but that they haven't been in contact since. Definitely encourage you to get in touch with her. She said she had been sent a link to this thread but had deregistered so couldn't see it but suggested because MN is anonymous that it may be a way to start organising. Everything she says makes perfect sense.

RadFizz · 18/07/2023 22:35

That's interesting given RM is full on TWAW and led the pile on against JC last year.

RadFizz · 18/07/2023 22:37

I saw in the magazine the other month that DB, ever one to complain of institutional transphobia etc, received an award from
WCPT at their Congress in Dubai. Wonder how he squares going there with their treatment of LGBT people!

northender · 18/07/2023 23:18

RM used to tweet regularly about her friend Gussie Grips though and how great she was and then it all went quiet

"She said she had been sent a link to this thread but had deregistered so couldn't see it but suggested because MN is anonymous that it may be a way to start organising."

This suggests that Elaine has not tried following the link and thinks that only registered Mumsnet members can see content, ie. that she thinks it is hidden and not public.

It might be worth checking with her.

Depending on what you are thinking of organising, it might also be worth considering taking some things out the goldfish bowl that is Mumsnet on the open internet.

(I'm not a physio BTW. Retired Health Care Professional with GC physio friends - and we all obviously adore Elaine!)

I've just completed my CSP survey fwiw, there is still a week to go so still time to do it. There's a section on micro aggressions and a free text box at the end which I used.
I've probably loosely paraphrased what EM said. She was very active on here for quite a time so I'm sure is aware of MN's limitations. But as a way of making contact with other GC HCPs as we have done on this thread, it could be useful.

RadFizz · 19/07/2023 07:13

Good point @Bosky. You have to be registered to post on MN but anyone can see a thread.

Calyx72 · 19/07/2023 13:30

I'm definitely going to email Elaine Smile
It would be good to make connections off MN but would need to be anonymous still.

We were talking about this at work today. There are more of us than I realised.

CSP don't appear to have Stonewall accreditation yet. They are "affiliated" to them but they're affiliated to a LOT of organisations, like I suspect most trade unions are.

Calyx72 · 23/07/2023 23:05

Glad someone is doing some proper research. These poor misguided people.

Have you seen this CSP bite sized info document?
CAPTURED is an understatement, with multiple errors in understanding the equality act- eg a GRC does NOT exclude from ‘proportionate’ discrimination yet this document says it does.
the CSP is expanding with the introduction of EDI reps across the country and this is their source material.
Waiting to be referred to ‘ as transphobic’ by CSP reps if sex discussions / situations a arise.
Going to need to take some long deep breaths.

Transgender equality and discrimination

On this page: What does ‘transgender’ mean? Gender reassignment Are trans workers legally protected from discrimination? What counts as gender reassignment? What is a Gender Recognition Certificate? Changing gender and the workplace Checklist for stewa...

RadFizz · 06/08/2023 08:39

"In limited circumstances it may be lawful for an employer to discriminate if the action is deemed 'proportionate'. An example might be where the job involves intimate searches.
However, such exceptions do not apply where the person concerned holds a Gender Recognition Certificate."
That doesn't sound right. Nor does the following, as it assumes all those transitioning have surgery.

"At the point when someone transitions they will need time off for treatment."

I think we should email (anonymously if necessary) and tell them how wrong they've got it. And it isn't just CSP either - there's some new TUC guidance that claims gender is a protected characteristic. They really should know better!

stealtheatingtunnocks · 08/08/2023 08:47

This person is the chair of the EDB. Is he a physio? Life coach and teaching leadership?

so we know who is in the running for new CEO? Inclusion =whacky glasses

https://twitter.com/nhsleader/status/1675535450641932289?s=46

stealtheatingtunnocks · 08/08/2023 08:49

I’m not sure he has every worked as a physio, can’t find him. Why is he the best person to tell me how to be inclusive in my professional role? Sudhir has boundary issues

https://twitter.com/sudhir_daya/status/1688439581924855808?s=46

RadFizz · 08/08/2023 09:22

He used to lead the LGBT diversity network and is now on the EDB committee but not the chair. Is it too much to hope that the members who haven't added their pronouns might be GC?

https://www.csp.org.uk/about-csp/how-we-work/governance/council/council-committees/equity-diversity-belonging-committee

stealtheatingtunnocks · 08/08/2023 09:31

He is HCPC registered but not working clinically? I don’t think that is helfpul. If we have a bullying fetishist and someone without much ward experience making ideologist decisions supported by the comms chap whose not a physio then should we be surprised by the nonsense trans guidance?

Why would council vote through something that is not legally accurate? we governed by people who are all either porn addled, scared or stupid.

karen Middleton is running away from a mess she allowed, I think

Calyx72 · 09/08/2023 10:35

I agree. It's definitely a mess and no good for any physios who aren't entirely Stonewalled.

OP posts:
vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 10/08/2023 00:38

maybe council haven't seen it? I think quite a lot of the "TWAW" position on the iCSP pages were opinions of individuals who had access to the forums rather than actual policy. The problem is that once things have been printed they are taken as if they are policy. Whoever controls the passwords controls the profession.

RadFizz · 10/08/2023 01:20

I doubt council approve everything that goes on the website. Those guides look to be just guidance rather than policy so I think we should email in our complaints and see what happens.

RadFizz · 13/08/2023 07:31

Anyone seen these notes from the most recent council meeting? Lots of equality issues facing members such as racism or disablism yet a position statement on transphobia is the priority! https://www.csp.org.uk/documents/focus-points-19-july-2023-meeting

northender · 13/08/2023 08:37

Does "further work to support members will be progressed" mean we will be educating members on how to correct their transphobic thoughts?
